Chapter 1607: Fear of Death(2/2)

The third basic fear is the fear of death.

This fear is the most obvious and destructive.

"Remember: You will die!" It is a cruel fact for everyone. Death is so unquestionable.

Augustine said: "Everything is uncertain. Only death is certain." The power of death will cancel the meaning of all living beings: every living person is dying, ready to die, and eventually enters the arms of death without exception.

Since I am destined to die, and death cannot be dominated by me, it may come to me at any time, what is the meaning of my life?

The fear of death is actually a question of the meaning of life, and it is almost the most fundamental problem that confuses all philosophers. There are too few people who expect death as a kind of happiness like Socrates, because what it requires is the courage to sacrifice one's life for the truth.

Plato's thought originated from Socrates' uncompromising death. For Socrates, a dialogue with the truth - saying "Tao" (Logos) - could make him ignore some terrible nature of death. Even when the person in charge of poisoning warned Socrates to speak as little as possible, otherwise the toxicity would occur slowly. When two to three portions were to be taken, Socrates replied, "Precautions should prepare poisoned wine, "It may be two to three portions."

Socrates defeated the fear of death, but people in this era have lost their pursuit of the "Tao". What else can he use to resist this fear? Fear means a threat, the threat of time to us, and the self-threatening brought by the defects of oneself, which is related to sin, because "the wage of sin is death."

In Genesis, after Adam ate the fruit on the tree of distinguishing good and evil, he endured God's curse: "You will die!" This shows that man's fall is falling into the constraints of time, and death means that time limits man.

The threat of time is not only that it will end our lives, but more terrifyingly, it may also perform this end in advance by using a rape method, such as disease, disaster, etc.

Everyone has a desire to achieve eternal desire (bringing children, writing books to continue their lives), which makes people hope that death will come later. In fact, people are unable to do this, and fear of death arises because it is an uninvited guest who may knock on the door at any time.

Another reason for fear of death is that people are unable to be responsible for what they do throughout their lives.

People's conscience desires justice and holiness, but there is no goodness in people. When living in sin, people suffer from a kind of pain of blaming themselves for justice. Because people cannot face death with their own holy knowledge. Fear of death is actually fear of judgment after death.

So how can we relieve fear and gain the power to control fear

I think the first thing is that people must recognize their own limitations and shortcomings, so as to maintain awe of the unknown world, rather than have hasty viewed themselves as the ultimate and think that they can take on everything.

The real situation is that a person is in a world where he cannot control himself, and can no longer break out of the cocoon of fear by relying on his own strength. He must admit that he does not live by himself. He must believe that there is a greater existence in this world than himself. Only when this greater survivor protects human survival can the meaning of human life be confirmed, and we can use this to overcome the fear of "unpersonal things", "non-existence", and "death".

This fact will become increasingly sharp, because human beings have come to an extremely fragile situation at the end of the century, and he will no longer find the confidence that he has in the past, or in other words, many cruel facts in history have proved that when human beings lose the protection of a larger being, they may become as barbaric and do whatever they want like animals.

In this situation, it is not surprising that people feel fear, but they must completely eliminate the fear and anxiety in a person's heart. Unless this person becomes a citizen of another world - a citizen of the eternal world.

This world will give him new and more valuable power, give him confidence, and give him courage. It will allow him to successfully liberate from the world of fear.

This is indeed a secret, James Reed said: "It is in this eternal world that Christ discovered the fearless secret. He knew that neither natural disasters nor human cruelty could touch the things in the eternal world in which he lived. In this eternal world, nothing will be threatened by water and fire, because the power of water and fire will never reach this realm."

Pascal seems to make it clearer in the Book of Thoughts: "Real fear comes from faith; false fear comes from doubt. Real fear comes from hope, because it comes from faith, and because people are afraid of the God they believe in. The former is afraid of losing God, and the latter is afraid of finding God."

Indeed, fear in the ultimate sense is not a simple fear, nor is it an emotion. It involves the origin of our existence. As long as people with a sense of existence, as long as people who do not want to live, as long as people who have not stopped thinking, will face this problem sooner or later, because it is so real and cannot be avoided.

It is precisely because of these fears of death that people, whether they are men or women, beggars or the richest man in the world, have the same pursuit of longevity.

Taoism regards immortality as the symbol of immortality.

During the Qin Dynasty, a alchemist Xu Fu asked Qin Shihuang for elixirs of immortality and went out to sea to find immortals on the immortal mountains of Penglai and Yingzhou. As a result, he disappeared.

There is also a school in Taoism that specializes in elixirs and taking medicine (including refining inner alchemy), and the purpose is to live forever.

Ancient West Asia-Su-Mei-Er myth, Western-Fang-Ke-Er-Irter myth, Nordic myth, Love-Er-Lan folk legends also include immortal immortals.

Not to mention humans, even animals have an extremely strong primitive desire to survive.

Immortality has always been the yearning for mankind, and for this reason, there have been long history of myths and legends of immortality on earth.

There are many myths and legends about immortality. There was once a rumor that during the Shennong period, a man named Chi Songzi took an immortal medicine called "Bingyu San". So he could enter the fire without transforming, and go to heaven and earth with the wind and rain. Later, he became the god in charge of praying for rain. Emperor Yan's youngest daughter followed him and became an immortal, and ascended to heaven together.

In Peng Zu's legend, it is said that Peng Zu lived for 800 years.

Peng Zu is a legendary figure in China. It is said that he lived in his eighty-eighty years old. His wife married more than 100 times, and she was still full of red and energetic.

His last wife wanted to know the reason. She acted coquettishly and said to Peng Zu: "Although I am young, my health is not as good as you. Please tell me the secret of longevity, so we can stay together forever."

Peng Zu looked at his beloved wife who was so beautiful that he was happy and said, "It's useless to tell you. It was the King of Hell who accidentally tore off my name from the life and death penalty and made it into a paper twist, so I lived until now."

In fact, the King of Hell had been paying attention to Peng Zu for a long time. But he could not find his name, so he sent two little ghosts to the river in the village where Peng Zu lived to wash charcoal.

It happened that Peng Zu's wife went to the river to wash clothes. When she saw two people washing charcoal, she muttered to the words: "Wash black charcoal, wash black charcoal, wash white black charcoal and sell it for money."

Peng Zu's wife said: "My husband has lived for 880 years, and I haven't heard that black charcoal can be washed white."

The two little ghosts said they didn't believe it, so Peng Zu's wife told the two little ghosts about Peng Zu's longevity. The little ghost immediately reported to the King of Hell. When the King of Hell found the paper twister, he sent a soul-grabbing ghost to hook Peng Zu away.

The people were probably very sorry for this. They spread a rumor: "Peng Zu lived 880 times and could not tell the truth to his wife."

In the Western "Saint--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

His son Sait, who was 807 years old, had children and lived to be 912 years old.

Legends are legends after all, legends are not facts, so immortality has always been just a vague and mysterious thing in the minds of ancient people.

Longevity is almost the pursuit of all ethnic groups in the world.

In Chinese history, powerful emperors such as Qin Shihuang and Emperor Wu of Han were unable to seek immortality in the world and take magic medicines to seek immortality.

Scientists from the American Academy of Sciences have discovered that elderly people over a hundred years old have a common genetic mutation, and scientists say this discovery helps find ways to slow down human aging.

Longevity means longevity. People can advance infinitely. People are very malleable and transformable.

How old does a person live long? According to ancient books, the natural life span (nate years) of human beings should be over a hundred years old. Zhang Jiebin of the Ming Dynasty's "Second Sutra Volume One, Take A Life" note: "A hundred years old is the general of the age of heaven." As the saying goes, "A hundred years later", refers to death.

In traditional Chinese culture, some interesting longevity names are little known.

Joy: At the age of 77, it is called "Seventy-seven" because the cursive script of "Xi" is similar to the vertical "Seventy-seven".

Mishou: 88 years old, because the word "mi" is separated and it happens to be the number "88".

Bai Shou: At the age of 99, he was called "王" because the word "王" is "王" and the word "王" is missing.

Tea life: 108 years old. Because the grass character "花" is the double "ten", the addition of the word "twenty", and the "people" in the middle is the "eight"; the "wood" at the bottom is the "ten" and "eight" add up to "eighteen". The middle bottom is connected to form "eight", and the "twenty" at the end of the character is the "twenty", so it is called.

The classic Chinese medicine book "Su Wen Ancient Innocence Theory" says: "I heard that ancient people lived in the spring and autumn, and their movements remained unchanged... Therefore, those who could live in the year of 100 years and their movements remained unchanged in order to achieve the complete virtues of the whole life."

"Lingshu Tiannian" says: "Huangdi said: Why does a person die after a hundred years of life?......After a hundred years of life, all the five internal organs are weak, all the spirit and energy are gone, and the body and body live alone and end up."

The chapter of "Shangshu Hong Fan" says: "Five blessings: one is longevity." The "Biography" ("Note") of Kong Anguo of the Han Dynasty said: "Hundred and twenty years."

In the Tang Dynasty, Kong Yingda and others' "Justice" ("Commentary") said: "The great period of a person is limited to a hundred years.

There is a longevity in the world that says "hundred and twenty years", so the "Biography" may not necessarily have a main text if it is the longest."

In addition, the ancients divided the length of life into three grades, upper, middle and lower levels, but the specific age statements vary.

"The Thirty-Two Years of Duke Xi of Zuo Zhuan" says: "How do you know? In the middle of your life, the wood in your tomb is arched."

In the "Justice" by Kong Yingda and others in Tang Dynasty, "The first one lives 120 years old, the second one lives 100 years old, and the second one lives 80 years old."

The "Health Preservation Sutra" says: "Huangdi said: The upper life is 120 years old, the middle life is 100 years old, and the lower life is 80 years old."

"Zhuangzi Daozhi" says: "A person lives a hundred years old, a middle-aged life of eighty years old, and a lower life of sixty years old."

"The Secret of Understanding and Relief in Taiping Sutra" says: "A mortal has three lives, which corresponds to the three qi, the sun, the Taiyin, and the middle life. The upper life is one hundred and twenty, the middle life is eighty, and the lower life is sixty."

"The Tenth Anniversary of the Lu Family Spring and Autumn Monkey King" says: "A person's life span is only a hundred years, and his middle life span is only sixty years old."

It seems that the lower limit for 60 years as the age of longevity is too low, and most people may not agree with it. Although there are those over 100 years old, it is rare. As the minimum age for longevity, 80 years old can be recognized and accepted.

There are many Chinese paintings that wish you longevity and good fortune, including Qi Baishi's "Longevity Picture", Wu Changshuo's "Pine and Crane", Zhu Xuanxian's "Longevity Life", "Longevity Peach", Lou Shibai's "Longevity Picture", etc.

Longevity is a life state that people have always pursued, and people keep researching and discovering on the road to longevity. It turns out that there are many contents that help longevity in people's life details, and doing more is very good for the body.

Longevity is a topic that people always care about. The US website "Time-Daily-Zhou-Jiu" recently published new research on longevity, pointing out more factors that affect lifespan.

A strong sense of responsibility can lead to longer life. An eight-year study shows that among all personality traits, responsibility is the most helpful for longevity. Stanford University researchers said that being cautious, careful, patient and planned, and a bit obsessive-compulsive disorder like researchers can help longevity. This type of person is conscious in doing things, and often makes the right choices in all aspects of marriage, work, and health, and is unlikely to die accidentally because of smoking, racing, not following doctors' advice.

Diet determines life and death. Researchers have found that the Mediterranean diet is a way to eat longevity, that is, eat more fruits, vegetables, nuts, and healthy oils, such as olive oil. A healthy diet can reduce the risk of heart disease in the elderly and even prevent memory loss.

Genetics has an impact. If parents live long, their children may not live long, but they will inherit some benefits from their parents. Recently, the British Journal of Medicine and Science reported that the reason why some people get less sick may be that the brain secretes more chemical substances such as serotonin and dopamine than ordinary people is due to genetics.

Education affects life span. A statistics from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that people with bachelor's degree or higher live about nine years more than those who have not graduated from high school. Smith, a health economist at Lan De, said that people with higher education are more likely to find good jobs, so as to make long-term plans for their lives and choose healthier lifestyles.

Working hard for a long life. It is often said that stress is harmful to the body, but working hard does not mean it will harm the body. New research has found that people who work hard and work (even if they are retired) enjoy it, not miserable, but happier, healthier, and have closer social interactions than peers who work negatively.

Mind Effect. A study tested people who participated in a three-month meditation meditation and found that the activity of telomerase in their cells in their bodies increased by about 30% on average than that in the control group.

Too optimistic is not conducive to health care. A cheerful personality gives people the impression that it is usually carefree and has less stress, and seems to be healthier. However, researchers point out that "loving thinking" may not necessarily lead to longevity. If a person is too optimistic, especially when facing a disease or recovery period, he is likely to ignore the risks.

Longevity cannot be separated from social interaction. Women often have a wider social network, which is one of the reasons why women live longer than men. Seeking care from friends, family, unit, and society can help reduce stress and even improve immune function.

Sitting for a long time will reduce lifespan. A study found that after 25 years of age, every extra hour of watching TV (sitting), 22 minutes will be deducted from the expected overall lifespan. (To be continued)
