031 Gene's Story
Gene has to admit that he may have the legendary aphrodisiacs.
In fact, the permanent magic on the stairs reduces the weight to only one tenth, which does not mean that you cannot walk. On the contrary, as long as you master the strength appropriately, it should be very helpful for going up and downstairs.
In terms of mastering strength, Gene, who has outstanding mental power since childhood, believes that he should not be worse than anyone else!
Eddie once said that people with strong mental power will be better than ordinary people, whether they are keen eyes and ears, or their subtle control of muscles, and their overall coordination. These are the specialties of archers! It is said that the natural "elves" of archers can even stand on leaves with their toes without falling.
But Gene just dared not.
Every time he flew his feet slightly off the ground, he couldn't help but feel fear, so he couldn't control his body at all. The blank area in the middle of the stairs looked like a bloody mouth of a deep abyss, and he wanted to devour his life at any time!
After a few days, Gene felt very depressed.
Dinner is not the biggest problem. At worst, you can spend two hours moving down early every time. The biggest problem is that you feel so nervous because Gene really has nothing to do!
In the morning, he saw the magicians standing on the steps one by one, standing quietly at the scenery outside the stained glass window, like sculptures;
In the morning, he saw the magicians practicing various magic seriously, or occasionally visiting doors, discussing something with other magicians;
In the afternoon, he saw the magicians quietly reading books or writing and drawing on paper;
In the evening, he saw the magicians usher in a happy party time. They gathered in some spacious rooms according to some small groups, using magical cards or props to entertain, and there were bursting laughter from time to time!
The life in the Mage Tower is very interesting, fulfilling and rich, but unfortunately Gene is an outsider.
Master Flinda heard that he was recuperating behind closed doors... Other magicians were like rumors, mostly proud creatures, and no one was willing to communicate with him. Even Erin, one time, Gene was surprised to find that Erin and Oliver had a good relationship! He saw the two of them having a chat and laugh together in the corridor, which made Gene feel a little distance from Erin - even though Erin smiled at him as always.
Sometimes Gene even feels that he should live below the thirty floor and get along with the gray-robed servants...
[When will His Highness Glen come to pick me up…]
The red-haired boy from the mountain village hoped this way more than once.
Gene once pointed to look out of the colorful crystal windows. The green pine forest not far away made him yearn for it and he wanted to go there for some breath.
It was not that he didn't want to leave the tower, but he couldn't do it. He was already at his limit when he was terrified of going down twenty levels. He seemed to have to exhaust all his strength. He couldn't even imagine what a long and desperate journey would be like to walk the entire fifty levels down to the bottom of the Mage Tower.
The only comfort was the gray-haired girl magician Blanche who lived on the thirty-third floor.
Maybe it was because of a common topic about Delen, or maybe it was because of the last cookie explosion, the most important thing was that this gray-haired girl was originally a very dissatisfied group of magicians, so Gene could say a few words to her! This gave the red-haired boy a place to play.
He would talk about the countryside of Dore village, which made Blanche laugh.
The noble and mysterious magician should not laugh out loud. Blanche always tries to make herself serious, although she often fails.
Over time, Blanche's impression of this red-haired boy also changed a little.
"Gen, I still can't agree with you." Blanche once baked pudding in the fireplace and suddenly looked at the red-haired boy seriously, "Promise is a promise. If you make a promise to the boy named Daren, you should fulfill it."
"I don't want to discuss this..." Gene lowered his head.
"You always escape this topic." Blanche was a little angry, "Look up and look at me... I don't know what the talent of Daren's warrior is, but I know a trustworthy partner, a person who really cares about you, is much better than a powerful and profit-oriented partner! You may become stronger in the future, but you may not be able to meet people willing to be your shield again. This is not something that the mercenaries hired for money can compare with."
"When the Arrow God challenges the evil dragon, a junior warrior holding a shield is useless even if he is full of passion..." Gene muttered.
"But how do you know that he won't become a powerful warrior?" Blanche snorted, "At least, I think his strength is much stronger than his peers, and his endurance is even more amazing... Besides, even if he is not strong enough, won't you help him become stronger? He is your partner!"
"Help him become stronger..." Gene slowly repeated this sentence, and suddenly showed a gritting expression, "You don't understand! You have been pampering since childhood, so how can you know about our poor families! The weak can only become stronger by themselves and seize every opportunity to make themselves stronger, otherwise they will be bullied forever! Any help from outsiders is bullshit!"
The sound of the red-haired boy suddenly became louder scared Blanche.
"I'm an orphan." Gene clenched his fists, "I haven't told you that I've actually been a picked up orphan since I was a child. The couple who adopted me didn't pay attention to me because they had their own children shortly after adopting me... I often don't have enough food and are thin. In the village, all my peers bullied me at will..."
"Dalen may be an exception... He has been full of justice since he was a child. Once when I was beaten, he helped me. He tried hard to beat me away and warned the other party not to bully me anymore... He also gave me a fruit knife worth three copper cloth to defend himself, which was quite expensive for children... He also took me home and invited me to eat meat together, saying that it would make me stronger..."
"But do you know what happened after that day?" Gene looked at the flames in the furnace.
"What's wrong?" Blanche was attracted by his story.
"Haha, the bad boy who was beaten away ran to find Little Hans, the son of the strongest blacksmith in the village, and brought him back to find me..." Gene said softly, "They don't look for Deren, because Deren is not easy to bully. I was beaten again, heavier than before, because I dared to resist, and that time I almost got disabled. My fruit knife was also taken away by Little Hans, and he melted it in the stove, becoming part of his giant axe."
Blanche was stunned.
"Since then, I only remembered Daren's last sentence... Eat more meat and you can grow strong!" Gene's eyes gradually condensed, "My adoptive parents don't want to give me meat, so I went to Daren's house to eat and drink! I gradually became inseparable partners with Daren. We agreed to take risks together. He promised to be my shield. Gradually, everyone in the village knew about this, and no one came to bully me again..."
"Even if you bully, you will only take advantage of Deren's absence. Of course, they will be more ruthless at those times."
"Jen, you..." Blanche looked at him blankly, "You are so pitiful..."
"Don't say I'm pitiful! Those who are pitiful are weak, but I want to become a strong one!" Gene raised his head suddenly, "I don't want to be pitiful by others anymore, I want to be respected by others, so I must seize every opportunity. His Highness Glen is willing to accept me as his disciple, why do I still want Eddie to be my teacher?"
