Chapter 68: Experience Talk

The Mist Academy is not big. This is the first feeling when Shaoke got off the carriage. It is not even half of the manor where the military headquarters is located. The janitor is an old wizard wearing a black robe. When Shaoke saw him, he found that he was a third-level mage. After informing the old wizard about his purpose, the old wizard nodded and said, "Yes, there are these two wizards here." As he said that, he glanced at the timer in the room and frowned slightly and said, "But they are teaching the children magic knowledge now! You need to wait a while."

Shaoke nodded and followed the old magician to rest in the hut, "Dear Master, please forgive me for my ignorance. Are there many students here? Did they all go to the Mist Forest in the end?" Shaoke was silent for a while, and first started the topic because he found that the old mage was always looking at him, which made Shaoke feel very uncomfortable.

"Yes, what should I call you?" The old mage simply answered Shaoke's question. He hoped to know the name of the mage in front of him who was looking for companions.

"Dear Master, you can call me Master Xueye." Shaoke hesitated for a moment, but after carefully looking at the black robe on the old master's body, he told the other party his name.

The old mage shook his head and smiled, "Okay! Master Xueye, as you see, I am a mage directly under the military headquarters. I think you are the same!" He said that, pointing to Shao Kelu's robe and collar outside, and named that they actually have the same identity, but they have different ranks.

Shaoke nodded and admitted the old mage's opinion, "Are there many mages here?"

"What kind of mage do you mean?" The old mage asked in confusion: "There are the most mages here, and there are fewer mages like me who directly belong to the military headquarters, and there are also some low-level mages from the mage union here." The old mage paused, "Of course, I have not included the young people who are learning magic. They are not yet at the time to decide on that camp! Besides, they do not have the qualifications to be called a mage now." As he said that, the old mage raised his white head, and a sense of arrogance appeared on his face.

"Dear Master, there are many apprentices studying here!" Shaoke listened to the old master's explanation and immediately pointed out what he wanted to know clearly.

"Oh!" The arrogant expression that the old mage had just raised his face faded suddenly faded, "No, too few, the young people are no longer keen on helping the country to serve. After they left the academy, only a small number of people arrived at the place to train military mages. The rest either defected to some magic families or joined the abominable mage union." The old mage turned to an admirational tone: "There are still a few mages who have chosen to become wandering mages."

Shaoke nodded, "Dear Master, can you ask you another question?"

The old mage nodded, "I am happy to talk to a young man like you, which makes me feel a little more energetic. I remember when I was on the battlefield." The old mage was trapped in memories as he spoke, and a kind of nostalgia appeared on his wrinkled face. "I also stayed in the foggy forest, but I didn't talk to those mages there. But later I followed the orders of the military headquarters and arrived at the front line, um! It was the one with the Desas Empire.

There was a small fortress at the junction where I met many mages." As the old mage said that, he stared at Shaoke with a certain expression and said, "Of course, those mages were obedient to the orders of the military headquarters. In order to protect the poor soldiers, the civilians of the Empire made such a cruel decision. They did not think that the two mages I met in the foggy forest were all determined to join the mage union that caused trouble all day long."

Shaoke nodded and affirmed the other party's statement. Although he did not understand the specific situation, it did not prevent him from getting some useful information from the old mage.

The old mage picked up the wine jar beside him, poured a glass of fennel wine for Shaoke and handed it over, "I'm the only wine here, try it! This is better than the one in the Mist Forest, but it's much worse than the snow wine." After saying that, they both drank a little.

The old mage continued, "In that small fortress, I met many mages who can be dated. They are of very good character, so you can date them with confidence." As he said, his tone suddenly became deeper, and after drinking half a glass of wine, he said hoarsely: "It's a pity, but most of them stayed there forever without waiting for the opportunity to be promoted. There are many, many. I still remember that there was a famous female mage at that time. She fell in love with another mage. Unfortunately, when we were attending their wedding, the enemy attacked, and the poor couple was killed by a third-level mage. Alas!"

Shaoke looked at the old mage who was in a low mood for a moment and didn't know how to comfort the other party. He was silent for a while and asked: "Dear Master, can I ask you some experience on the battlefield? I think I will fight with those mages of the Desas Empire." He hoped to use this to divert the old mage's sadness.

The old mage smiled and said, "Of course, Master Xueye, you have the right to ask me about these questions. This is a right that no one can erase." As he said that, he signaled to Shaoke again to drink a little wine and began to explain it to him. Shaoke felt that the other party's explanation was very detailed.

"First of all, Master Snow Night, when you first arrive there, the mages there will always hold a cocktail party for you as soon as possible. First of all, you must learn enough elegance there, otherwise a long battlefield career will make you rude." The old master thought for a while and then said, "Again, after the cocktail party, you should ask the officers there to familiarize you with all the defense arrangements of the fortress you are in the shortest time. Of course, if it is too late, go the next day."

Shaoke smiled bitterly and said to the old mage in front of him, but he couldn't interrupt the other party rashly. Who knew what sentence he would say in?

"You should note that the battlefield is not as simple as hunting monsters in the foggy forest. I think you will be very nervous when you go to the battlefield the first time you go to the battlefield, but this is a test that every mage must go through. When you first start fighting, don't learn from those mages who have half of their bodies released spells outside, because their guards cannot find the spears or bows thrown by advanced warriors in time, so you must stay honestly behind the bunkers that are specially prepared for the mages to cast spells." The old mage suddenly strengthened his tone and said, "Remember, never leave your bunker to kill those mages or high-level warriors of the empire. Even if your companions die, they cannot, because that will bring you the same disaster."

Shaoke nodded again and asked, "Dear Master, what should I do if there are a large number of high-level warriors in the empire rushing up? After all, long-term delay in releasing spells and casting time cannot effectively kill those high-level warriors. And what should those mages do when they release spells to the city? Should they release the same spell to resist? Or should they open the protective formation on the city wall?" Shaoke said his question in one breath and hoped that the old mage could answer it seriously.

But the old mage waved his hand and said casually: "Master Xueye, I have to say that you are overly worried. As you said, your knowledge is quite lacking now. I suggest you read more books and travel in the future. Of course, this is just some of my suggestions." As he said that, he looked at the very embarrassing Shaoke explained to him: "Those mages will never release spells to the city. Unless one of the mages learned the spells that were casting a long distance, and this mage was quite bored and had enough strength. Otherwise, they would never risk the bows and arrows falling on the city wall and the stones of the stone casting tools to release spells at close range."

Shaoke was very angry at first, but when he thought that the old master was very reasonable. Although he had read many books, he could read more than the old master in front of him? No one could say that, and the other party had spent a lot of time than him after all, so he didn't care.

The old mage felt that Shaoke had just calmed down, so he continued to explain. "Those high-level warriors are at most third-level. The higher ones basically won't appear on the battlefield. The rest are first-level and second-level. Even if they rush to the city wall, there will be special mages to snipe them. Don't forget that some mages specialize in practicing single-power attack spells. What they are doing there is to snipe those high-level warriors who cannot release spells and hunt." The old mage looked at Shaoke's grateful gaze and smiled, "I almost forgot that you should never expect a magic circle to protect the city wall to appear on any border fortress, because none of them has such a magic circle."

Shaoko asked puzzledly: "Why is this happening? Is there no advanced mages there to maintain it?"

The old mage nodded and drank the last little wine, "Yes, not only because there is no maintenance of the high-level mage, but also because the military headquarters does not have enough money to buy sufficient crystals to drive the operation of those huge magic circles. After all, it is different from some large cities in the mainland, where powerful families or nobles are supporting them, alas!"
