1. Chapter 1 Courier

I am a veteran and joined the army at the age of 20. The conscript stayed in the army for three years after two years. For some reason, this year, when I was twenty-five, I was discharged from the army.

I thought that as a veteran, I could easily make a living in this big city. But when I really entered this city, I realized that I was thinking about finding a job too simply.

I think it’s too idle for security guards, but for other jobs, I have interviewed several times in a row, and I will always leave only one sentence, and I will go back and wait for the phone call.

In the end, I had to rent a house outside the city center and live in it first. It was relatively remote, and the rent was relatively not that high.

Here, I met Qin Dayou, who is about the same age as me, a very talkative person. When I first checked in, I took me to his house for two drinks, and I became familiar with him a lot.

Qin Dayou knew that I was worried about not being able to find a job, so he often came to me with wine to have a drink and comforted me not to make me angry. But I always felt that Qin Dayou was a little reluctant to speak.

It was already eight o'clock in the evening when I got home that day. The house I rented was several private houses. The sound of my opening door probably alarmed Qin Dayou. Qin Dayou came out and smiled at me, then turned back to the house. When he came out again, he had two more bottles of beer and a bag of cooked food in his hand.

While eating and drinking, Qin Dayou kept saying that it was difficult to find a job in the city. Although you are a veteran, it would be useless if you don’t have an education.

Although I was a little drunk, I still heard something in his words.

Most of the soldiers are straightforward and don’t like to beat around the bush. I asked straight to the point: “We have known each other for a long time. If you have anything to do, just tell me frankly and don’t mess with so many useless things.”

Qin Dayou squinted his eyes and smiled, picked up the beer bottle and poured a glass of it for me, smashed his mouth and said, "I have a job to introduce to you, can you do it?"

"What job?" I asked.

It was a good thing to introduce me to work, but looking at his reluctant but stopped, I felt unsure. Although it was difficult to find a job, it was absolutely impossible for me to do something shameful.

Qin Dayou took a sip of wine and said, "Send express delivery."

It turned out that it was a courier. Maybe he was afraid that I was a person with a high eye and low skill, so he seemed to be reluctant to speak.

"How is the salary?" Anyway, I have no money now, so as long as the salary is acceptable, I will do it. I don't like the express delivery job, but I think it's very good. When I came to the army, I still hope to do some physical work, without using my brain, and keep exercising.

Qin Dayou smiled and gestured with two fingers: "The basic salary is 2,000, and the rest is entitled. Give a courier and get two commissions. If you give 50 yuan a day, it will cost 100 yuan a month, 3,000 yuan a month, and 5,000 yuan a month."

I heard Qin Dayou say that I was stunned. It was hard to find a job of 5,000 yuan per month. As a security guard, it only costs more than 2,000 yuan per month. How can I deliver a courier? This is not a first-tier city, 5,000 yuan per month is not a low.

I thought about it carefully and guess there must be something wrong with the five thousand job this month.

"You kid is only over 2,000 yuan a month. I will introduce me to a job worth 5,000?" I asked after clinking glasses with him.

Qin Dayou smiled and picked up the wine glass, raised his head and drank it all, rubbed his hands and said hesitantly: "I do the work of inspection and collection. The people who deliver express delivery cannot compare. The salary is dead, and there is no commission. But then again, this work is really a problem..."

"What's the problem? The boss will deduct wages for no reason." Anyway, looking at him like that, there must be a problem, and my guess is that the problem must lie in this salary.

The hippie smile on Qin Dayou's face suddenly disappeared, and he mysteriously came over and said, "The salary is no problem, there is a problem in the area I gave it to."

"What do you mean, you understand it." I urged him to continue.

Qin Dayou poured a glass of wine again, and after drinking it, he said, "That area used to be a mass grave. Let's talk about it. During the war, the Japanese and the Eighth Route Army fought there, and nearly 10,000 people died. Later, people said that the land was a mass grave. After the war, it became a mass grave. In the 1970s, someone developed it and built it into a community. Now it has been many years, and most of the people living there are elderly people."

"What?" I still don't understand what Qin Dayou is talking about.

Qin Dayou grabbed a piece of pork head and stuffed it into his mouth. After chewing it and swallowing it, he continued, "The place is restless and a bit fierce..."

Recalling what he said just now, I kind of understand what he meant. It turned out that it was not a salary issue. As long as it was not a salary issue, the rest were not a problem for me.

"I tell you, don't believe it." Seeing my disdainful look on my face, Qin Dayou couldn't help but say seriously: "There is a precedent in that place, and there are many things happening."

To be honest, I really disdained what Qin Dayou said. When I joined the army to train, I was alone and stood guard at the mass grave in the middle of the night, and I had never seen anything unclean.

"There were three people who were responsible for delivering the express delivery in that area. One was an uncle in his forties, but he stopped working after working for a few days."

I asked curiously, why did I stop working after a few days?

After a moment of stunned squirming with Adam's apple, a trace of fear flashed in his eyes, and his lips shivered and said, "I can't do it anymore, I'm dead..."

"Die?" Although I didn't believe what he said, it was really dead. I was concerned. After all, maybe I would go there to be a courier.

"It was quite normal for the first few days of express delivery, but it didn't take long to get a problem. There were things in that area, so you have to pay for the goods? The express delivery person collected the money and had to hand over the money, but the uncle handed over the money when he paid the money..."

"The owner of the store thought it was the uncle who collected the wrong money, so he wanted to find an opportunity to tell him. But before he could tell him about this, the uncle... died."

Qin Dayou looked at me and said without waiting for me to ask: "I died in a car accident at the entrance of the community. When I died, I was in a miserable state. My body was knocked out more than ten meters, and... and the vehicle that caused the accident was just a small private car."

It is completely understandable that a small private car can knock people out more than ten meters away when it gets faster.

But before I could speak, Qin Dayou said, "The key is that the small private car has not reached twenty miles in full speed..."

"I knocked the person out more than ten meters before I reached twenty miles?" I looked at Qin Dayou half-believingly, feeling that his words were a bit exaggerated.

Qin Dayou nodded constantly and said, "The car accident was at the entrance of the community. The uncle's man was knocked out more than ten meters, and half of his body was lying in the community. What's even more incredible is that when the uncle died, half of his body was in the community and half outside the community. When the crowd surrounded him, the uncle had already died, but when he turned around, the uncle who was already dead on the ground actually started to move his legs. He pedaled on the ground and dragged his body forward half a meter away with force. When his feet were fully entering the community, he stretched his legs and was completely exhausted. It seemed that he would not want to leave the community even if he died."

Qin Dayou's face was full of fear when he spoke.

I didn't feel anything at all. I felt that Qin Dayou was exaggerating in his words. Why could that person move when he was dead? There was no reason for that.

I didn't care about this, so I picked up a chopstick dish and put it in my mouth, and asked while eating: "Didn't you say there are three people who delivered the express delivery? There are two more?" I just thought he was telling a ghost story.

Qin Dayou took a sip of wine and smashed his mouth and said, "The second one is a young man."

When he said this, Qin Dayou raised three fingers and gritted his teeth and said, "Three days, that young man has been working for three days."

"Stop doing it?" I thought to myself, are you dead too?

"I can't do it anymore, I'm crazy..." Qin Dayou shook his head regretfully and said, "The first day is good, no surprise. But the next day, he collected money like the uncle, and collected a stack of paper money. Similarly, this young man didn't find anything wrong. When he waited for the third day, he went crazy. Whoever caught told him that the person who received the courier was not the person. Now the young man is still in the mental hospital."

I picked up the cigarette on the table and put it in my mouth, but it didn't light it. I squinted at Qin Dayou: "I don't listen to the last one, and I don't want to listen anymore. Anyway, there is no good result."

"The boss has been crazy about recruiting people these days. All the express delivery in that area is piled up in the store. The basic salary is directly mentioned to 2,000. If I weren't timid, I would have taken care of this job."

Qin Dayou didn't plan to tell me about the third person, and he laughed and picked up the lighter and lit a cigarette for me.

"I think you were retired from the army and your physical skills must be higher than others. Now that the land is short of people, you have to feel that it is right, I will take you there tomorrow. After that, I will just go to work."

Although I don’t believe there is a ghost, I still feel a little guilty when something happened to the previous three people.

I took a deep breath of smoke and spit out the smoke. Looking at the unfinished food on the table, I reached out and touched the only 200 yuan left in my pocket.
