Chapter 589: Jingnian Temple
As I walked in slowly, I saw that most of the pagoda was made of large bluestone, with complex structures, nine octagonal layers, and doors on all sides. The carvings of the pagoda were extremely gorgeous. The surrounding scroll doors were filled with religious things such as dragons, tigers, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, strong men, music, and flying. They were full of spirituality and lifelike.
The pagoda brake is made of iron, with eight iron chains drawn to the octagonal corner of the tower. The lower five levels are set in the tower, starting from the fifth floor, but hovering along the outer eaves of the tower to the top floor. This kind of horror is rare in pagoda buildings.
Especially the tall and gorgeous iron sword, handsome and upright, protruding from the mountains and forests, as if piercing through the blue sky.
This temple is not in accordance with the rules everywhere, and it has its own style.
The most amazing thing is that the decoration of the building is in a magnificent and terrifying place, but it still gives people a simple and true feeling, just like a beautiful woman in full dress. Although she is dressed in gorgeous clothes, she can maintain her natural beauty due to her lack of makeup.
The stone steps have been completed, and the four words "Those who enter are destined to be" are written on the forehead above the second mountain gate. Couplets are engraved on both sides: "The drums and bells in the evening wake up the world of fame and fortune, and the sutras and Buddhist chants call back the sea of suffering and dreams of being charming."
After passing through the mountain gate, the first seven-bedroom hall stands in the square behind the door. There are many monks in the Zen temple, but they turn a blind eye to the four of them, either sweeping leaves or adding incense, with a Zen feeling on their bodies.
The few people looked like torches. At first glance, they could see that these monks had great martial arts, which showed that the creeping tiger and hidden dragon were hiding here.
The first hall was filled with cigarettes, and rose from the three-legged furnaces and cauldrons in front of the three Buddha statues enshrined at the southern end.
The one in the middle who wears a golden crown is the kind and dignified Buddha. The treasure is solemn and shining with golden light, just like pure gold.
Dozens of statues of Arhats lined up along the walls in the hall are in various shapes, none of which are similar. They support the eight pillars and pillar foundations of the hall, all of which are carefully carved and decorated with sparse and majestic painted brackets. The eaves are deep and the eaves are raised high and raised, creating the profound and solemn atmosphere of the temple, full of religious appeal.
There are seven main halls like this, Jingnian Zen Temple, each with carved beams and painted buildings and countless murals are engraved.
After passing through the seven main halls, a bronze hall stands in the center of the Zen temple.
A bronze hall with a width of three meters and a height of half a meter. The main buildings in Jingnian Zen Temple are arranged in sequence on the central axis opposite the temple gate. The bronze hall is the center of the Zen Temple, and the scale is completely uniform.
Except for the bronze hall, all buildings are covered with three-colored glazed tiles, which are as bright as new. But I don’t know whether it is because the monks in the temple are diligent in cleaning or the tiles are like this, especially the peacock blue among the three-colored ones is the most dazzling.
The glazed tiles shine like rainbow under the sunlight, like Buddha lights occasionally, making people dizzy, as if they are in a Western Buddha country.
In front of the bronze hall is a platform square with a vast and large area of 100 feet, made of white stone and surrounded by white stone railings.
A bronze statue of Manjushri Bodhisattva is enshrined in the middle of Baishi Square. It is riding on the back of a golden lion, about two meters high. There are three Buddhas such as Medicine Master, Sakyamuni and Amitabha next to the niche. Colorful gold decorations are quite bold, but it also makes people feel a bit out of ordinary temple customs.
At the four sides of the Baishi Platform, except for the entrances and exits of the four stone steps, there are five hundred arhats evenly distributed, all of which are made of gold and copper. Each of them has different expressions and postures, but whether they open their eyes and protrude their foreheads or lower their eyes to keep their eyes in their backs, they are lifelike and no different from living people.
Other buildings are as a whole with the main hall on the axis, distributed in an orderly manner in all directions, separated by forests and roads, and have a solemn and sacred atmosphere.
A large incense burner was placed in front of the Manjushri Buddha silhouette in Baishi Square. The burning sandalwood was sending out a lot of fragrance, which spread throughout the space, making people feel calm and infected with the atmosphere of birth.
There are 808 stone steps extending straight from the outside of the mountain gate to the foot of the mountain. The glazed tiles are rippling with colorful colors. The trees beside the passages inside and outside the temple cast shadows on the road, adding to the mysterious atmosphere of the Zen temple.
At this moment, the sound of scriptures flowing in the bronze hall was heard, making people feel like they were born out of the world.
To Kou Zhong and the other two, Bai Xingjian really only took them around Jingnian Zen Temple. After walking to the back of the bronze hall, he was told that the monks were resting and that it was not open to the public. He took the three of them away without saying a word, which made the three of them a little puzzled.
Didn’t he say he wanted to take them to see the consequences of Li Shimin’s success after becoming emperor? Why was there nothing?
Soon, Bai Xingjian brought the three of them to the mountains, and a small lake lay peacefully on the grassland ahead.
The green waves rippled among the trees, and the fog was swaying on the green lake in the early morning. The three of them were immediately excited.
At this time, Bai Xingjian turned around and looked at the three people and said, "Three, how about Jingnian Zen Temple?"
The three of them were unaware of it and hesitated for a while. Xu Ziling said, "It is worthy of being the holy land of martial arts that is as famous as Cihang Jingzhai. It is deep, profound, peaceful and quiet, and contains Zen and Buddha's meaning everywhere, and has the compassion of a great Bodhisattva who is compassionate to the heavens and compassionate to others."
Kou Zhong and Ba Fenghan also nodded repeatedly.
However, they knew that Bai Xingjian did not like Cihang Jingzhai, and they were worried that he would have any malice to Jingnian Zen Temple, so they looked at him with some caution.
Unexpectedly, when Bai Xingjian heard Xu Ziling’s praise for Jingnian Zen Temple, he nodded and praised the passage.
“It’s right.”
The three of them were confused immediately. Fortunately, Bai Xingjian quickly proved to them that his malice towards Jingnian Zen Temple was a real existence.
Bai Xingjian turned his words and looked at the three people and said, "Several people have felt the quietness and peace of life from Jingnian Zen Temple. Do you know that this quietness and peace is piled up under how much money and manpower?"
Upon hearing this, the three of them subconsciously thought of the magnificent bronze hall.
Bai Xingjian swept to the Jingnian Temple in the distance and said coldly:
"You all saw that the magnificent bronze hall, just that bronze hall, is enough to consume gold and silver to the taxes of the upper treasury for a year, as well as the Baishi Square a hundred feet wide, the bronze statues of five hundred arhats, and the golden body of the Buddha in the seven halls."
"Everyone in the world says that the Yang Gong Treasure House wins the world, but who knows that the wealth of the Jingnian Zen Temple is not as good as that of the ten Yang Gong Treasure Houses, and these are still what we can see on the surface."
"The three of you have seen that pagoda, too. The pagoda is usually a place used by Buddhism to store resources. Such an octagonal ninth-story pagoda has at least three or four treasure houses underground. How much wealth can be stored in it? You can imagine it."
"Again, how much manpower and material resources is required to build such a small town Buddhist temple, and it takes less time to succeed. A simple Buddhist temple is probably comparable to that of Luoyang's century-long accumulation."
"What you see and feel is based on the wealth of at least dozens of Yang Gong's treasure houses. In this way, can you still feel the so-called Zen, compassion, and the so-called monks' four elements are empty?"
