Chapter 1142 Besieged on all sides

The German army crossed the border at dawn on Sunday, June 22, 1941, and before that, artillery had begun bombarding the Soviet headquarters and command.

The Air Force carried out violent air strikes on airports, railway hubs and seaports far away as Kronstadt near Leningrad, Izmer in Bisarabia, and Sevastopol in Krim.

In the Baltic region, the German Northern Army Group commanded by Field Marshal Li Bo was tasked with annihilation of the enemies of the Baltic countries and joining the Finnish army. The ultimate goal was Leningrad five hundred miles away.

The German Northern Army Group consisted of the 18th Army commanded by Qusirel and the 16th Army commanded by Busch. There were a total of twenty infantry divisions, one of which was the reserve force of the Army Group. Later, three security divisions were added.

The 4th armored cluster commanded by Hepner includes two armored armies, with a total of three armored divisions and three motorized infantry divisions.

The Northern Army Group also received air support from about 400 aircraft from the 1st Air Force commanded by Krell.

Leningrad was of great significance to the Soviet Union, not only the birthplace of the Soviet regime, but also the place where the October Revolution began. This was the spiritual capital of the Soviet Union.

If Leningrad is lost, it will be a big blow to the Soviet Union's military and people's hearts, so the Soviet Union cannot afford Leningrad and dare not lose.

At the same time, Leningrad was the largest industrial center in the Soviet Union, with a large number of industries, including the Soviet Kirov Arsenal, Baltic Shipyard, etc.

In particular, these two were among the few professional tank manufacturers and shipyards in the Soviet Union at that time, and could be said to be the Soviet military centers. If we lose this place, let alone the Soviet Navy.

The Kirov Armory was unable to produce heavy tank KVs, which was fatal.

More importantly, the Kronstad military port was the largest military port in the Soviet Union at that time and also a non-freeze port. Except for breaking the ice from November to April, the military port can be navigated the rest of the time.

If the port is lost, it will be almost deadly for the Soviet Union. The Germans can easily send supplies through the Baltic Sea to shorten the transportation line, not to mention that Leningrad was the Soviet Union's transportation hub, and the railway line extends across the country. In this way, the Germans can almost drive straight in.

In addition, Leningrad, as a barrier to the port cities of Murmansk and Arkhangelsk, once the Allied aid supplies are captured, these two life-saving port cities will not be able to continue to stick to it.

If that were the case, no matter how big the Soviet Union had its territory, no matter how capable it was, no matter how determined it was, it would have been, and it would have been unable to retreat. In addition to surrender, it would have been destroyed in the country and the seeds, and there would be no accident.

What made Stalin and others very upset was that Rostov in the North Caucasus region was also suffering from large-scale attacks by the German, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary Axis Alliance forces.

Türkiye's feud seems to be ready to move, and it is about to launch an attack on the South Caucasus region.

The vast Caucasus region is divided into the northern North Caucasus and the Southern Caucasus in the north. The majestic Caucasus mountains are known as the backbone of Europe and are a natural obstacle to mechanized forces.

In the North Caucasus, the oil produced by Maikop and Grozny accounts for 15% of the entire Soviet Union.

In the South Caucasus, the oil fields in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, supply almost 70% of the Soviet Union's oil.

There are also the best manganese ore in the world in Georgia, supplying more than half of the manganese in the Soviet Union.

As for food and other materials, there is also an incredible amount of food and can be said to be a huge treasure house.

The geographical location of the Caucasus is also extremely important. It is connected to the Black Sea in the west and the Caspian Sea in the east. The materials that Britain and the United States support the Soviet Union were transported to the Soviet Union through the Caucasus.

Crimea in the Caucasus region also has large Soviet air force bases, and planes taken off from it can threaten Romanian oil fields.

Therefore, the importance of the Caucasus region to the Soviet Union is self-evident.

If this place is lost and fallen, not only will another supply line be cut off, but the most important food, oil and mineral production areas will be lost, and the Black Sea Fleet will also become a turtle in a jar and will be completely destroyed.

In this case, it would inevitably be a fatal blow to the Soviet Union.

In addition, the Japanese devils also came to join in the fun. At midnight today, the Kanto Army, under the personal command of Ishihara Kanir, went out of Manchuria to launch a large-scale military attack on the Soviet Far East.

The Chita Front is having fierce fire with the Japanese army, and the entire Far East has become in danger.

"This group of despicable and shameless Japanese actually sent troops to attack the Far East Military Region at this time."

After reading the terrible information, Stalin's face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot. He really wanted to kill people. This was like a damn danger, surrounded by enemies, and everything was sliding into the abyss of hell.

As long as the situation collapses further, there is no doubt that the entire Soviet Union will completely perish, and the huge red empire will completely disappear in the long river of history. At most, a few sigh-worthy splashes will splash.

Marshal Zhukov was also frowning. He was helpless in the face of such a terrible situation. At this moment, he could only smoke a dull cigarette.

"Comrade Stalin!"

After a while, the Chief of Staff of the Soviet Army, Wasseylevski, finally broke the silence and looked at the frowning Stalin and whispered: "I have an immature suggestion."

During World War II, Huasilevsky served as the chief of the Soviet Army's General Staff, the instructor of Stalingrad's counterattack, the recapturer of Crimea and the liberator of Kaliningrad. He was the most talented general outside the three troikas of the Soviet Army. He participated in command and planned all major battles in the Soviet-German War.

Stalin frowned and said, "Comrade Vasilevsky, please say whatever you have. When is it now?"

"OK!"

Huasilevsky nodded and continued: "According to the intelligence judgment, the Japanese Kwantung Army's military operation this time was actually not approved by the Japanese government cabinet, but by the Kwantung Army's unauthorized operation.

The Japanese government is not very willing to be enemies of the Soviet Union at this stage, but wants the Germans and the Soviet Union to lose both sides as much as possible so as to achieve the greatest benefit.

So I think maybe the military operations to resolve the Japanese Kanto Army may be carried out through diplomatic channels!”

Stalin pondered for a moment and asked, "If it can be resolved through diplomatic means, it will naturally be the best result at present, but what if the Japanese government is unwilling to terminate or there is no way to stop the Kanto Army?"

Stalin knew very well what a weak country had no diplomacy. If it were the case before, the Soviet Union would not have to worry about Japan's small moves. At worst, he would beat them up and beat them up honestly.
