Chapter 47

The winter in Y City is particularly late this year. It’s January, and there are pedestrians wearing jackets and out on the road.

The vegetation on the roadside is lush, just like in previous years.

Chi Zhongyue drove alone and returned to Chi's house.

In just two months, this place became an abandoned house.

The iron door that was strictly guarded by the past was wide open, and a night cat lay behind the door, and its gray body almost blended with the ground.

Stepping into the iron door, my feet were covered with fallen leaves and soil.

The precious recliner fell to the ground and drenched bird poop on his hands. Chi Zhongyue walked in and found that there was a little yellow dog curled up behind the chair.

She remembered the stray dog, who used to try to sneak in, but was driven out by the ruthless person who was guarding the gate.

Now, it can finally live here with peace of mind.

Chi Zhongyue took out the key and opened the door.

This huge villa is almost empty. Except for the tables and sofas that cannot be moved, other things that can be moved, such as vases and electrical appliances, have been carried away.

Chi Zhongyue didn't know who took these things, maybe Lao Wei, Zhang Ma, Xiao Li, maybe they made an appointment to move away these valuable things.

It was obvious that the incident had only been two months, but the house seemed to have been abandoned for two years.

Chi Zhongyue went straight upstairs and entered his room.

There was nothing valuable in her room, but the table and cabinet were flipped over, but the rest of the room didn't move much.

Chi Zhongyue stood in front of the bookcase and looked at it. She had stopped studying for a long time. The books in this bookcase were all textbooks from elementary school to high school. She was too lazy to clean it up, so she kept it until now.

She walked to the bookcase, squatted down, and opened the bottom drawer.

There is her primary school homework book, the paper is yellowed and curled, and the handwriting left by the pencil is almost invisible. Only the pen handwriting reviewed by teachers and parents is still as clear as usual.

Chi Zhongyue took a random copy, walked out, and entered Ruan Lingxiang's room.

She took out a wooden box from Ruan Lingxiang's dressing table drawer, opened it and saw that there was indeed a wooden comb inside.

After packing up her things, she went downstairs and left the house that was about to be confiscated.

After going down the mountain, Chi Zhongyue drove directly to the local prison.

Today is the day when Chi Ronggui executes the injection.

Qin Weiping was waiting for Chi Zhongyue in the hall. When he saw her coming, he took her inside without saying a word.

The atmosphere in the prison was not as heavy as Chi Zhongyue imagined. The prisoners who were moving were talking and laughing, and some even joked with the prison guards. If they weren't wearing prison uniforms, no one could have seen that this was a group of prisoners.

Chi Ronggui was imprisoned in the prison on the top floor, but the building only has three floors in total and there is no elevator installed. Chi Zhongyue and Qin Weiping walked up there.

After passing through the long and bright corridor, Chi Zhongyue finally spoke.

"I heard that he often suffers from angina pectoris recently?"

Qin Weiping nodded, "I just committed it again last night."

Chi Zhongyue said oh and stopped talking.

When he reached the end of the corridor, Qin Weiping pushed open a thick iron door, and a special metal smell came to his face.

At this moment, Chi Zhongyue felt the atmosphere of prison. It turned out that what she saw just now was an illusion.

In the meeting room, the lights were very dim.

Chi Zhongyue sat on a stool, flipping through her homework book casually.

A few minutes later, the prison guard brought Chi Ronggui in through the glass room.

Chi Zhongyue didn't look up at him, but just listened to his footsteps.

Heavy, dragging, accompanied by the friction of shackles.

He must have been much older.

Although he was mentally prepared, Chi Zhongyue was still shocked when she looked up.

Chi Ronggui was so thin that he was not human. His cheekbones were protruding on his originally rich face. His cheeks were hanging loosely. His eyes were turbid and had no focal length. His eyes were not turned even after all. He was helped by the prison guard and found a stool and sat down.

He and Chi Zhongyue sat face to face, only separated by a layer of glass, but he didn't know where Chi Zhongyue was. He heard a sound on the right and his head tilted to the right.

He is only fifty years old, but he is like an old man in his 80s.

After a long time, neither of them spoke.

Finally, the prison guard coughed and said, "If you have something to say, there is a time limit, it is only ten minutes."

By this time, five minutes had passed.

Chi Ronggui said to the air on the right: "Where is your mother?"

Chi Zhongyue said: "She is very good."

The two of them held it in for five minutes, then they said these two words, and fell into silence again.

The clocks on the wall ticked and ticked, and they could only hear their breathing in conversation.

There were two minutes left, Chi Ronggui said, "Why?"

Chi Zhongyue's fingers were stuck on a page on the homework book. She looked carefully before she could tell the content from the faded pencil handwriting.

"Today, in the math exam, Liu Jiayu and I sat together for the exam. He copied my answer, but later he said I copied his answer because our answer was the same. I was very angry. The math teacher said that I must have copied it because Liu Jiayu was the squadron leader..."

Chi Zhongyue finished reading this paragraph, then turned her eyes to the blue pen handwriting, "The teacher educated her well, it is wrong, it is right, and children should reflect on it."

She raised her head and said, "Wrong is wrong, right is right. But you have not distinguished right or wrong yourself, but you want to teach me to distinguish right or wrong."

With a "drip" sound, the hour hand points to the hour point.

The prison guard stood up with Chi Ronggui and took him away.

The moment he stepped out of the door, Chi Zhongyue heard Chi Ronggui sigh heavily. As soon as the door was closed, his voice completely disappeared.

Three days later, the temperature dropped sharply.

Chi Zhongyue put on her coat, wrapped a scarf, draped her hair down, and sat in the conference hall of the Public Security Bureau.

At this moment, the Public Security Bureau is holding a commendation ceremony for the "1123 Major Drug Case".

There is no media, no journalists, let alone any news reports.

The host was Qin Weiping. He was holding a microphone and standing on the stage with relevant personnel, while Ren Qingye was standing in the center.

"Establishing the police for the public, governing for the people, and striving to be a civil servant who satisfies the people should be the unremitting pursuit of every public security officer. Establish a correct outlook on life, world outlook, strictly abide by the requirements of professional ethics, and strive to be a moral model of public security officers. An important task of our bureau this year. In the process of this "1123 Major Drug Case", a number of heroic individuals and deeds emerged. Comrade Ren Qingye and Zhong Zheng of the Drug Department are outstanding representatives of advanced individuals. After research and decision by the Party Group of the Bureau, Comrade Ren Qingye and Zhong Zheng were given a briefing and commendation and awarded first-class merits. We hope that Comrade Ren Qingye will be modest and cautious, guard against arrogance and impetuosity, carry forward achievements, and make continuous progress. All police officers in the bureau should take Comrade Ren Qingye and Zhong Zheng as role models to learn from, be down-to-earth, work hard, self-disciplined, and serve the people."

He paused, put down the manuscript, looked at the policemen sitting neatly in the audience, and said, "A great country, natural disasters have not destroyed it, the Eight-Nation Alliance did not swallow it, but it almost destroyed the country because of opium. Comrades, I hope you can always understand what the meaning of everything we do, even what we maintain with our lives."

There was silence below.

Ren Qingye turned around, placed Zhong Zheng's tomb on the table in front of him, then spread a national flag and solemnly spread it on it.

Qin Weiping cleared his throat and said, "Now, everyone stands up and lowers the flag for Comrade Zhong Zheng, and observes silence."

In the narrow conference hall, a small national flag fell down.

Chi Zhongyue lowered her head and looked at the ground with her eyes down.

After the ceremony, she raised her head and saw Ren Qingye standing in front of her.

He was wearing a uniform, upright and neat. He hung a golden medal on his chest and a red party emblem inlaid in the middle.

"It looks so good." Chi Zhongyue said, "I didn't expect you to look so good in uniform. Unfortunately, I can't see you wearing it anymore."

This is his commendation ceremony and his retirement ceremony.

Ren Qingye smiled and said, "What are you holding in your hand?"

Chi Zhongyue spread her hands out of the comb she took from Ruan Lingxiang's room.

"My mother said that when she got married, she didn't have any dowry, just this comb, and now she gives it to me."

Ren Qingye took off the medal of merit on his chest and put it in Chi Zhongyue's hand.

"I have only this one, too."

Chi Zhongyue held it, and the cold medal was heated by the palm of her hand.

"Enough."

The cold winter wind is thrilling, but the sun is not stingy at all, illuminating the darkness of this marginal city.

In the moon in the pool, Ren Qingye suddenly shines into his life.

Yu Ren Qingye, in his glory, the moon in the pond is the warmest beam.
