Act 52. Chance

The Gracia's special cabin is very luxurious. The huge space is exclusively enjoyed by Reiner. You can also overlook the earth through the observation deck, which can be said to be a kind of enjoyment.

Unlike the expected bumps, the entire flight ship was extremely stable during its driving process, as if it was walking on flat ground. I don’t know if it was the design of the special cabin or it was like this.

It took about half a day from Toronto to Lake Wagner, where Reiner was able to enjoy a top-notch lunch. The fried beef ribs were tender and juicy, the creamy mushroom soup was rich in flavor, the bread was soft and the vegetables were fresh, which was in line with the food that the noble boy had enjoyed at home in the past.

After lunch, Reiner took a break and read the recent news. With the long whistle, the Gracia also arrived at the port of Lake Wagner.

As soon as he got off the boat, Reiner could feel the magical breath in the air. He saw that many of the pedestrians passing by the port were mages wearing mage robes. The gold edges on their cuffs represent their rank. Unlike the most seen mages in the first ring near the Crescent Academy, most of the mages here are already at the level of the third ring. Obviously, the threshold for the mercury balance to collect people is quite high.

"Are you here to try your luck?"

As soon as Reiner finished the procedures needed to get off the boat, a man in a double-breasted dress came to Reiner.

"Try your luck?"

Not knowing what the other party said, Reiner was a little confused.

"Hey, I thought you came here to seek opportunities like me."

The man smiled, but didn't care, then stretched out his hand, and the gold edge on the cuff was particularly conspicuous.

"My name is Peter, and I've just been promoted to a ring mage."

"Hello, I'm Reiner."

Reiner naturally responded to politeness for others. After thinking about it, he asked immediately.

"What's going on when you just said about taking luck?"

"Hey, I'll tell you...well, let's find a bar to sit first. After a while, when the regular ships from the Tower of Rainbow will arrive, it will be difficult to find a seat there."

Peter said cheerfully, and took Reiner into a lively bar, ordered two glasses of butterbeer, and then spoke.

"Are you a mage apprentice?"

"Yes."

Reiner has not passed the assessment and has not engraved any spell model in the heart lake, so he is indeed a mage apprentice.

"There are only two types of mages coming to Wagner Lake at this time. One is who received an invitation to attend the annual academic conference of mercury balances, and the other is who like me, who hopes to be appreciated by an adult and become a low-level mage for his students."

Peter explained patiently, and Reiner listened intently.

When graduating from a magic school, apprentices generally have two choices. One is to take the assessment and strive to become a 1-ring mage, and the other is to go home to inherit the family business. Apprentices who become a 1-ring mage need to find a teacher after getting the certificate of passing the exam.

They will use their grades to go to various famous or ordinary intermediate mages, hoping to become his students. Due to the regulations of the advanced council, intermediate mages must bear the obligation to train new people, and the resources they can obtain for cultivating a mage are also very rich, so most people are happy to recruit students.

Among them, some of their students come from the graduates of the magic school they teach, and some of them come from the graduates of other magic schools.

Peter graduated from Wellington Magic Academy, a seventh-level magic school, slightly better than Crescent Academy, but his school does not have intermediate mages, so in order to learn, he must find an intermediate mage to be guided. Usually this process lasts for months to years, but there is another shortcut, which is this annual meeting.

During this three-day annual meeting, most of the elite mages of the Mercury Balance will visit Wagner Lake, which also gives low-level mages the opportunity to get in touch with these adults.

Of course, for mediocre people, no matter how many opportunities there are, it is futile. There will be no more than five students who become intermediate mage students through this path every year, but people still enjoy it.

Similarly, for other organizations, there are similar activities. According to Peter, he is good at the alchemy and the necrotics in school. Therefore, in addition to the annual meeting of the mercury balance, he also participates in the annual meeting of the Immortal Throne of the Necrotics organization in the annual meeting of the Star Descent Moon (October).

This sounds a bit like when I was attending a job fair. Reiner thought while listening. It seems that even if you become a mage, you need to consider many issues. Most of the mages in this world are inherited from blood or master-disciple. Magic schools are just basic education, replacing the aristocratic schools and church schools in the past.

"So I thought you were here to try your luck like me. After all, the annual meeting will begin tomorrow, and all the adults should be checking in tonight."

Peter shrugged, and he also had some so-called treasure books summarized by his predecessors, such as which hotel a certain adult likes to stay in and which bar which adult would go to at night. To Reiner, this sounds a bit similar to the metaphysical guide on the earth.

"Get out of the way, I still have to drink!"

Just as the two were communicating, a bearded uncle broke his glass at the wine table next to him, looking like he was already drunk. He stood up, took two steps, then fell in front of Reiner and Peter, and began to vomit.

“It smells so smelly…”

Peter covered his nose and fled away quickly.

Reiner stood up and took a little step back, not letting the vomit dirty his clothes.

The uncle lay on the ground, looking weak, which attracted the bar owner to pick up the broom and come over.

"You want to vomit and let me go out and vomit, this damn guy, and pay!"

He acted as if he wanted to beat the man, but Reiner reached out to block the boss's broom and threw out a silver coin at the same time.

"I'll help pay for his wine."

Rainer didn't suddenly want to do charity, but didn't want to fall into boring violence.

The uncle struggled to stand up, looked at Reiner with his muddy eyes, threw him a strange-shaped coin and said in a vague tone.

"Thank you."

Then he squeezed out of the crowd and left the bar.

"There are many people like this. Wagner is also a city after all. Some people don't pursue it. After making a little money, they start to indulge in drunkenness. Especially in these few days, there will be more beggars, and you will meet them in the future."

Peter seemed to be commonplace. He smelled his clothes and confirmed that there was no strange smell. At the same time, he said to Reiner,
