Act 56. Lehner's speech

A young mage apprentice!

And very handsome!!!

The mages present looked at Reiner and felt mixed feelings.

Some were amazed by the other party's young appearance, some were uneasy for the excellence of their peers, and some were open female mages who had become interested in this handsome young man at this time. After the meeting was over, they tried to invite him to spend the night together.

But before that, everyone was more concerned about another question, what did this mage apprentice discover?

The dim weather outside the window contrasts with the swaying lights in the conference hall. At the junction of the shadows, Reiner walks forward step by step.

To be honest, Reiner pretended to be calm. He didn't expect his paper to be circulated into the hands of the legendary wizard, nor did he expect the other party to pay so much attention. Reiner slowly walked to the podium, and the legendary wizard stretched out his hand to him, and Reiner gently held it back.

"Your paper on electrolysis of water is so wonderful, maybe the best paper I've seen in the past decade."

Lanchester whispered, with a kind smile.

"You have been awarded, Lord Stanien, I am just standing on the shoulders of the giants, and I am fortunate to achieve such a tiny achievement."

Reiner glanced at Cornwall standing behind Lanchester. He did not start designing an electrolytic experiment when he saw Cornwall's electrolysis paper. There was nothing wrong with this sentence.

“That’s so humble.”

Lanchester looked at Lener with admiration, then took a step back and left the huge podium to Lener.

Reiner cleared his throat and found that Lanchester had thoughtfully placed a copy of his paper on the podium. This copy was obviously used by Lanchester himself, and it was already full of comments.

"Everyone, the content of my paper is very simple, it is about two new elements discovered by electrolyzing water."

As soon as this sentence was said, all the mages present burst into breath.

Electrolyzed water!!?

If it weren't for what Langchester said before, most people would probably think that Reiner was crazy. After all, water is one of the four basic elements, and Reiner's words are undoubtedly challenging authority.

But no one raised objections. As Lanchester said, all the mages present with mercury balances at the forefront of academics. Their desire for knowledge has surpassed everything. They will not rashly stick to their own opinions. At least, they will not ask questions until Reiner's speech is over.

"I read the latest issue of Alchemy, Your Excellency Pengzans's paper on electrolysis. The paper mentioned that for elements with active properties, electrolysis can effectively separate them from compounds. So I began to think about whether some substances that were considered impossible to decompose in the past were because the properties of the elements that made up these substances were too active to decompose?"

Rainer did not rush to state his experiments, but asked questions first to explain his thinking process.

After hearing Reiner's speech, many mages fell into deep thought. Most of them had read the electrolysis paper by His Excellency Pengzans. There were many people who used the same method to try to decompose new elements, but they actually ignored the most common substance, water. For three hundred years, the theory of the four basic elements has been like a heavy cornerstone, deeply rooted in everyone's hearts, and no one wanted to shake this cornerstone.

"So, I set my sights on the water that I touch most on weekdays, designed the experiments based on the paper of Your Excellency Penzance, and electrolyzed two gas elements of special properties from the water, 'Oakles' and 'Hedra'."

Then, with the help of Lanchester, they repeated the experiment on the spot and verified the properties of the two elements as described in the paper.

During the whole process, the audience was silent, and people were observing, wondering, and thinking.

It was not until Reiner ignited the two proportionally mixed gases in the airtight container and obtained a certain mass of water that a low scream came out of the crowd.

"Based on the experimental phenomenon, I guess that the past combustion theory cannot explain this reaction. Will it have certain flaws or even fallacies in itself?"

Word by word, Reiner's words are like some kind of demonic whisper, which makes people think about it very terrifyingly.

"As a result, based on the experimental phenomena I have seen, I proposed a new theory that interprets combustion reaction. Combustion is the reaction between substances and combustion aids, and produces Oakles and similar gases. As for the fire element, it does not exist in any corner of this reaction."

Boom-

Just as Reiner finished speaking, a thunder sounded in the sky. This was the first thunder that Wagner Lake has been in summer, just like the mark that today's conference will leave in the history of magic.

The lightning reflected Reiner's side face, calm and confident, which made the mages in the front row think of a certain honor.

Assisting Reiner's explanation, Lanchester waved his hand gently, and the particles of light interweaved in the air to form two reactive projections.

2H20 (powered on)=2H2+02.

2H2+02 (combustion)=2H2O.

This is an alchemy reaction formula made by the abbreviation of the element name, which means that under the condition of electricity, every two parts of water will be decomposed into two parts of Hydera gas and one part of Oakreth gas.

In the eyes of alchemists, this formula is so concise and elegant, clear and logical, and the number of elements on both sides of the equation is equal, which has some shocking power.

"I think the reason why the mass of reactants remains unchanged before and after the alchemy reaction is the conservation of elements, so I write the alchemy reaction formula in this way. Of course, my ability is limited and I cannot verify all the current alchemy reactions, so this is just a hypothesis."

Reiner told the story. At this time, Lanchester signaled slightly and added to Reiner.

"I have repeated most of the known experiments these days, which basically conform to this rule. According to my observations, a few experiments with reduced mass should generate some new substance that we have never noticed in the past."

Reiner continued to speak while hearing Lanchester's explanation.

"So judging from the discovery of His Excellency Stanien, elemental conservation should be a basic law of alchemy reaction."

Crack-

Another lightning flashed across the sky, like a spark, flashing in everyone's minds.

If the law of conservation of elements is correct, then alchemists can not only control each alchemy reaction qualitatively and quantitatively and observe its products, but also design new experiments based on the components of the compounds. The existing alchemy system will take a big step forward.

After completely destroying the cornerstone of the modern alchemy system, Reiner immediately recasts a more stable foundation.
