Chapter 79 Dharma and Consciousness

We spread the word that nine hundred years after the Buddha's death, Maitreya Bodhisattva should have the invitation of the Bodhisattva Agata. At night, he descended from Tushita to the meditation hall of Zhongayutuo Kingdom and talked about the "Yogashima".

Then the Bodhisattva Agata inherited his lectures, writing the "Mahayana Sutra", "Mahayana Sutra", and "Explanation of the Holy Teachings". The brother of the Bodhisattva Agata Vajra also published the "Explanation of the Mahayana Sutra", "Ten Stages of the Sutra", "Distinguishing the Middle Edge", "Twenty Treatises of the Consciousness Only", "Thirty Verses on Consciousness Only", etc., which further explained it.

Soon his disciple Wu Nian also wrote a commentary on the "Sutra of Mahayana". There were also ten great scholars including the Dharma protector, Dehui, Anhui, Queen Sheng, Nanda, Jingyue, Fire Breaking, Victory Friend, The Most Surpassed Son, Zhiyue, etc., who successively compiled the commentary on the "Thirty Verses of Consciousness Only" of Vasubandhu.

This is also the origin of the word "Consciousness-Only"!

It was inherited from Maitreya Buddha, and was compiled by Master Sanzang, and translated the ten great scholars including Qinsheng, Fire Breaking, Nanda, Dehui, Anhui, Jingyue, Dharma Protector, Shengyou, Shengzi, Zhiyue, and other commentary on the "Thirty Verses on Consciousness-Only" and translated a "Chengyiwei Yu", creating the first large-scale Buddhist sect in Middle Land... the Yogacara Sect!

The "Yosaka-Only School" is also known as the "Dharma-Essence School". Unlike the Zen School that focuses on Buddha nature, the Dharma-Essence School focuses on Buddhism. The so-called Dharma-Essence is the true form of Buddha!

The "Dharma" of the Dharma-Shaping School refers to the "Dharma" of Buddhism, and "Buddhist" is also called the "Dharma". The "Dharma" of the Dharma-Shaping School refers to the Dharma-Shaping School.

Master Xuanzang originally thought of going to the West to figure out the theory of consciousness-only that was entangled at that time, but by chance, he entered Buddhism by pursuing the true meaning of the theory of consciousness-only. Under the guidance of Maitreya Buddha, he achieved the perfect Buddhahood in an instant.

Afterwards, Master Xuanzang translated countless Yogacara scriptures obtained from the West after returning to the Middle Land, deepening his understanding of the Dharma-like consciousness-only nature. After he was reborn in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, his disciple Kuiji inherited and carried forward the Yogacara school's legitimate rule, achieving the first peak period of Buddhism in the Middle Land.

It’s a pity that the “Consciousness-Only Dharma Image” is too mysterious and profound. Even some monks who have attained enlightenment may not be able to understand the essence of it. Therefore, hundreds of years later, fewer and fewer disciples with wisdom roots are added to the rise of Huayan, Pure Land and Zen, which has led to the current inheritance of the Consciousness-Only Sect almost being cut off.

Fortunately, there is no habit of cherishing one's own treasure among Buddhist sects. Almost all the sects can communicate the classics, and some basic scriptures of the Yogacara school are also circulated in Zen.

The leader of the Consciousness-Only Sect, "all dharmas are only consciousness", said that everything in the universe is manifested by "consciousness". "Consciousness" is composed of the six consciousnesses of the eyes, ears, noses, tongues, body consciousness, and consciousness, and is also called the "six senses".

Only when all the six senses are opened and pure and unobstructed can we embark on the path of Buddhist practice and touch the "Manas consciousness" and "Alaya consciousness". The "eight consciousnesses" are opened, which is equivalent to condensing the foundation of the great way and entering the real gate of practice.

The "Alaya consciousness" is regarded as the fundamental consciousness, and the first seven consciousnesses are reincarnated based on the eighth consciousness. The so-called "Ten Doors of Consciousness-Only" is the process of using the eighth consciousness to understand the origin, characteristics and changes of all things in the universe. The Yogacara school calls it "Alaya origin".

Opening the "Alaya consciousness" means opening the divine treasure of wisdom and awakening the seeds of wisdom hidden in it.

The seeds are stored in the "Alaya consciousness" and can generate different potential abilities of different things.

Current action refers to the seeds stored in the Alaya consciousness appearing as different realms and consciousness. Because these realms and consciousness are the "presents" that sentient beings can perceive and "actions" that are endlessly born and destroyed, they are called "presents".

The relationship between seeds and the present is the relationship between the cause and the cause of the fruit.

The first level of the ten gates of consciousness-only "seeing each other and having consciousness-only" is to understand the "state of concentration", that is, "current action".

The second level of "recruiting the appearance and seeing the consciousness-only" is "unity of mind and state of mind", and "seed" and "current" form the foundation of this kind of power.

The third level of "Seeing the Seventh Sense and Returning to the King of Consciousness" is the time when the foundation is solid and the seeds germinate.

The white light-filled relics suddenly burst out with brilliant golden light under Ji Boyi's consciousness, and a vague phantom appeared in the golden light.

It can be seen that this is a golden body that is six feet tall, with four heads, four faces and four arms. It is wearing a king's clothes and surrounding the seven treasures, holding classics, lotus, pigs and rosary.

As soon as the golden body of Dharma images appeared, the "Qinglianhua" fell to his feet as if he had spirituality, allowing him to step on his feet.

By opening up a pure land, Ji Boyi understood the essence of "Ten Doors of Consciousness-Only". With the supreme spiritual energy of the spiritual vein and his own relics, a Dharma-like golden body was condensed and he advanced to the third level.

He slowly opened his eyes, but Ji Boyi found that he closed his eyes and sat in front of him.

In amazement, my mind power flowed and broke out and wanted to know what was going on. But I found that my originally powerful mental power had risen to a level again. Not only was the entire mountain of gold covered it, but it also roared through the air and descended to the sky above Zhenjiang, looking across the bank.

Diffusion and diffusion, until half of Zhenjiang was shrouded under his own divine consciousness, Ji Boyi felt a burst of fatigue. It seemed that he had reached the limit of the Dharma image and the golden body.

Several practitioners who were originally hiding in Zhenjiang and two small sects, all of them changed their faces when Ji Boyi was dispersed!

Ordinary people just felt a sudden burst of thunder sounding in the sky, thinking it was a call that spring should have.

However, from the perspective of practitioners, they saw that the powerful mind power that could almost crush half of Zhenjiang into powder was like a huge net, covering the void sky.

"Who is it that has such a powerful cultivation level? The land gods in the Taoist Cave Heaven are still Arhats in the Pure Land of Buddhism, or the demons in the Free Heaven......"

Xi Yizi, the head of Chaoyang Temple, and Taoist Lu Chengming from the Immortal Cave, are usually cultivators who consider themselves very high. They believe that except for the leaders of those big sects in the world, they will be them. However, they did not expect that today they would meet Ji Bayi, who condensed the "Dharma Golden Body" and made great progress in cultivation in Zhenjiang.

The vast power of thought that as long as one finger is moved, it can scatter its soul and not even have the chance to reincarnate, smashing their hearts to pieces.

Fortunately, this powerful force of thought only flashed away, and it seemed that they were "disdainful" to those of them with low cultivation.

Amid the roar, half of Zhenjiang's spiritual power was recycled like a tide and was sank into the core relics of the Dharma Image Golden Body.

"It turns out that after you have cultivated the Dharma-Eye Golden Body, the physical body is something that is optional."

After this investigation, Ji Boyi has already understood his current realm. He has condensed the Dharma-like golden body, and his spiritual and Buddhist magic power will leave his body from his body, and all integrate into this four-headed and four-armed six-four-four-armed gold body.

Buddhism believes that the physical body is just a boat that ferrys people to the other shore. After cultivating to the Arhat fruit, one can recondensate the pure glass true body in the Eight Treasures Merit Pool of Pure Land of Pure Land. In terms of quality, it is several levels higher than the physical body of a mortal.

Therefore, many Buddhist monks abandon their bodies when they are reborn in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

But Ji Boyi is really not used to abandoning his physical body like this. After all, the dependence on the physical body for several lifetimes is deeply rooted.

As the mind moves, the Dharma Image Golden Body collapses, and the vast magic power returns to the body. A crystal relic blooms with white light on the green lotus. This is the purest spiritual mind power condensed, and it is also the core essence of the Dharma Image Golden Body.

As long as the relics are still there, he can condense the golden body of Dharma images at any time with the spiritual energy accumulated in the "Qinglianhua" and his own magic power.

"However, what Buddha does my Dharma-Eye Golden Body correspond to? Four Poems and Four Arms seem to have a vague impression, and it seems that I have seen it on a Buddhist scripture."

With Ji Boyi's memory, as long as he saw something, he could remember it instantly. However, when he thought of his Dharma image golden body, he felt an invisible force erasing the traces of this existence.

This kind of power seems to be from the origin of the Great Dao, acting in the three thousand great worlds. It slowly and firmly erases all the marks of the present, past and future of the Dharma image.

"I don't know if it's a blessing or a disaster!"

The thoughts returned to the body, but instinctively aroused a sense of weakness and tenderness from the heart. It seemed that it was very uncomfortable with the "weak" power contained in the body.

Ji Boyi estimated that the greatest destructive power that his physical body could use was only about one-tenth of the random attack of the Dharma Image Golden Body.

No wonder after practicing the Dharma-Eye Golden Body, many Buddhist masters will abandon their physical bodies. Because after getting used to being strong, no one wants to become "weak" again.

"It seems that the power of the Ten Consciousness-Only Sects is even more powerful than I imagined.

It seems that we need to find more scriptures from the Yogacara school. I hope that this sect will be spread by its descendants and do not cut off such a powerful inheritance."

With a gentle shake of his head, Ji Boyi turned to look at the "Green Lotus". He saw that the original eight hundred lotus leaves quietly bloomed again after passing through the spiritual vein nourishment and the Dharma image golden body sacrifice.

Eight hundred and eighty-eight leaves are really a very auspicious number.

"I heard that before the Pure Land Sect's ancestors in all dynasties, their own 'green lotus flowers were able to bloom to 999 leaves. It seems that my current cultivation level is still not comparable to that of the predecessors. I still need to work harder to strive to get to the next level!"

Ji Boyi didn't know that his own thoughts were completely an illusion. The ancestors of Pure Land Sects of all dynasties took the sacrifice and practice of "Qinglianhua" as their mission, and almost used 90% of their cultivation to make this Pure Land holy lotus bloom.

And his "green lotus" had not had a few leaves blooming that he sacrificed. The purple gold relics of Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta directly made the lotus bloom eight hundred leaves. This time he cultivated the Dharma image of the golden body, absorbed the spiritual veins of the Jinshan Mountain, and once again triggered eighty-eight leaves. It can be said that none of them was related to his hard work of sacrifice.

If the monks of Zhenjiang who were scared by Ji Boyi's powerful mind power just now knew about his thoughts, they might have vomited blood and died.
