Chapter 41 Anna(2/2)
Winters was speechless, and the two of them sat silently for a while.
The sound of the boot heel hitting the stone slab came from a distance. The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and it was obvious that someone was coming. Anna immediately put away her lazy posture, straightened her back, and sat upright on the stone bench.
Winters stood up and looked in the direction where the footsteps came, and saw a familiar figure walking out from the manicured bushes that were more than one person tall - it was Antonio.
"So you are here, and you can't hide if you don't like social occasions." Antonio said to Winters with a smile. Then he saw another figure beside the stone table, his expression began to become complicated, and a playful smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
As soon as he saw Antonio's expression, Winters immediately knew that his uncle had misunderstood. Before he could explain, Antonio had already greeted Anna first: "Miss Navare, good evening!"
Anna also politely stood up and returned to a curtsy: "You are good, General Serbiati."
"I hope this little guy Winters didn't cause you any trouble."
"How could it be? Mr. Montagne was very polite."
Then Antonio turned his head to Winters and asked Winters happily in old words: "[Old words] Have you kissed her tonight?"
The old language, known as the higher language in the northern empire, was a language with deep roots and different origins from imperial languages. In the past, this language was mainly used by the aristocratic class and clergy.
After the alliance overthrew the emperor and the nobles, it abandoned the titles of higher languages and aristocratic languages and called them the old language.
Call imperial language a common language or mainland language.
There are only a few words in the old language and the common language, but most of them have differences in pronunciation and grammar, so users of the common language may be able to understand some old language words, but they absolutely cannot understand a whole sentence.
In the imperial era, clergy and aristocratic class monopolized knowledge, so most of the books in the past were written in old languages.
In today's republics, only the intellectual class will learn old languages because they need to read past literature. Most people only know the common language, which is enough for daily production and life.
There are also ancient languages above the old language, and the original pronunciation of the ancient language has been lost.
Only researchers who need to read books from the ancient Empire era will learn ancient languages - and clergy, because the authentic scriptures recognized by the public church are written in ancient languages.
Also, because the three languages use the same set of letters, people today can use the current grammar to "hardly read" the ancient language.
The church also has a unique set of ancient pronunciations, called "church-style pronunciations". It is said that it was passed down from ancient times and is generally only clergy who will learn to use it.
The Army Officers School sets up old and old language courses, so Winters and Antonio are able to use old languages.
Antonio suddenly changed his language. Winters didn't understand it at first, but was shocked when he reacted.
Winters didn't expect his uncle to say such rude words in front of the lady, and even the gentler woman would slap him hard. He turned his head and looked at Anna, who tilted her head and looked at the two of them in confusion, without any sign of being angry.
Winters breathed a little relieved. Obviously Anna couldn't understand the old words, and he also replied to his uncle in the old words: "[Old words] Can you stop causing trouble?"
"[Old Word] Good, OK, young people have their own ideas." Antonio smiled, obviously thinking things wrongly: "[Old Word] My business is done, when do you want to leave? Come and find me again, I'm not in a hurry."
After saying it on his own, before Winters could explain, Antonio said goodbye to Anna and left here with big steps.
Watching Antonio's figure disappear behind the bushes, listening to Antonio's footsteps getting farther and farther away, Winters no longer knew what to say. Antonio had already had preconceived ideas, and it would be troublesome to explain it.
He sighed and turned around and said goodbye to Anna: "Miss Navare, we have a great time today. But I am going home, please allow me to say goodbye."
Anna said to Winters with a bright smile: "[Old words] So, do you want to kiss me?"
