Chapter 52

Lian Jue called Kang Tong to the study on the second floor to talk. Chen Ting didn't wander at the door for a while, but still didn't knock on the door - he didn't know where to go in and disturb Lian Jue's education of the child.

But after all, it was the game he proposed, and he was also instigating Kang Tong to sleep late, which made Kang Tong feel really sorry for being scolded.

Chen Ting didn't stand at the door for a few kilometres. The sound insulation of the study was so good that he could not hear the movement inside.

He had just hid in the cabinet, and his stomach curled up for a while was a little uncomfortable. He pressed his sore waist, held his lower abdomen and returned to the room first, and sat down on the bed to rest.

He leaned against the head of the bed, the door was half-closed, and his mind was also affected by the situation in the study. After reading the book in his hand for a while, he still kept it on the same page.

It took him a long time before he heard a door sound from the corridor, two footsteps were heard, and a few light steps turned into a trot, and the calm footsteps followed behind.

Lian Jue's voice sounded: "Slow down."

Chen Ting did not hear Kang Tong respond softly, "I know", and his steps turned back to his feet, but it was still much more important than the previous speed.

Until Kang Tong's footsteps approached, Chen Ting closed the letter and planned to get up from the bed and take a look.

As soon as he sat up, he saw a furry little white head poking into the door of the room. Mimi was stretching her neck to get into his room.

Before it could get in, its body was picked up by a pair of small hands. Kang Tong gently held Mimi and retreated. Chen Ting didn't hear him lowering his voice and said to the kitten at the door: "Mimi, shh--"

After Chen Tingwei returned to the room, he only turned on a desk lamp in front of the bed. Most of the light was covered by the door. Kang Tong might have mistakenly thought he had rested. After saying that to Maomao, he raised his hand to help Chen Tingwei take the door.

"Tongtong?" Chen Tingwei called him.

Kang Tong stopped closing the door and turned his head and looked behind him with some scruples.

Chen Ting didn't hear Lian Jue say, "Go back to bed early."

Kang Tong nodded and said, "I understand Dad."

The door next door was closed, and Kang Tong got permission before he dared to walk into Chen Tingwei's room.

Before Chen Ting moved in, he made room for Kang Tong and patted the bed: "Come."

Kang Tong had a little hesitation on his face, but finally came over. He took off his slippers and climbed onto the bed, sat next to Chen Tingwei. Chen Tingwei pulled out the thin quilt that he pressed under him, covered him, and asked, "Has he scolded me?"

Kang Tong shook his head, his voice muffled: "No."

It was obvious that he was feeling a little depressed, and Chen Ting didn't raise his hand to help him stroke his hair to the side.

The warm fingertips brushed across his forehead, and Kang Tong's eyes drooped slightly, staring at him, and opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something.

Chen Ting didn't ask: "Are you unhappy?"

Kang Tong shook his head again, paused for a while, and whispered to him: "Hey."

Chen Tingwei was stunned for a moment, and realized that he might be still getting upset about what he was scolded by Lian Jue just now. Then he pretended to have an angry expression, gently tapped his forehead with his fingertips, and said, "Ignorance."

Kang Tong quickly shook his head and said, "No, it's Chen Tingwei's." He looked at Chen Tingwei carefully, as if he was afraid that he would be unhappy, so he lowered his eyes and explained, "I don't know what to call you, my father said he can't call you brother..."

"...ah?" Chen Tingwei was slow and said, "Okay... it doesn't matter, Tongtong can call it whatever she wants."

Kang Tong lowered his eyes and looked at the thin quilt piled up around Chen Tingwei's waist. Chen Tingwei looked at his expression and guessed what he wanted to ask, so he said, "Dad told you?"

Kang Tong nodded and said, "Dad said you have a baby in your belly, so you can't disturb you."

Chen Ting did not speak, and agreed to what Lian Jue said to him, but soon he figured out why Kang Tong suddenly became so cautious. He quickly hugged Kang Tong's shoulder and said, "I won't disturb you, Tong Tong is very obedient."

Kang Tong was still immersed in the guilt that he almost hurt Chen Tingwei. After a few seconds, he seemed to be unable to figure it out. He raised his head and couldn't help asking him: "Brother... Weiwei, aren't you a boy?"

Chen Ting didn't say: "Yes."

Kang Tong's eyes were full of confusion: "Then why did you have a baby?"

Chen Ting was not stopped by him. He thought Kang Tong could not understand his physiological structure for the time being, so this question became difficult to answer. He pursed his lips: "Well..."

After thinking for a while, he came up with an excuse to protect the innocent child as much as possible: "...Because it hurts for girls to give birth to babies, so... the uncle wants to share some of their hard work for them."

Kang Tong seemed to be unable to understand, frowned tightly, pinching the edge of the thin quilt, and asked, "But won't you feel very painful?"

Chen Tingwei smiled at him and said, "Uncle is not afraid of pain, and boys want to protect girls, right?"

Kang Tong nodded vigorously and said seriously: "We must protect people who are weaker than us...and small animals."

Chen Ting didn't think he looked so cute, and he cooperated with him to nod his head seriously and said, "Yes."

Chen Ting was not sure whether Lian Jue made it clear to Kang Tong, so he thought about it for a while and said to Kang Tong: "But this is uncle's secret. Can Tong Tong keep it secret for me?"

Kang Tong said yes without thinking, pausing and asking again: "Why? Aren't you doing good things?"

"Uh, because..." Chen Ting did not rack his brains and borrowed a reason from a movie he had watched a few days ago, "Because uncle is a superhero, if the bad guy finds out, he will be caught by the bad guy-"

Before he could finish speaking, Kang Tong quickly covered his mouth and promised him: "I won't tell anyone!"

Chen Ting didn't laugh, pulled up the quilt that had been shaken off because of his movements and covered it again on him.

Kang Tong drilled under the quilt, revealing only a pair of dark eyes, and asked him, "Then are you going to be a mother?"

Chen Tingwei touched his stomach through the quilt and said "um" lightly.

Kang Tong didn't know what he was thinking. After a long time, he whispered in a very low voice: "You are so good, he must have a lot of love."

Chen Ting was suddenly praised by him, but he didn't answer for a while. Then his thoughts gradually became complicated with Kang Tong's words. I wonder, do you love?

He thought of Lian Jue.

Judging from the care of Lian Jue for his life after marrying him, he should provide a good life for his children in the future... But he is not sure if the child can understand Lian Jue's care and consideration that is not easy to detect under his appearance - this kind of gentleness that even Kang Tong can't understand at this age.

Chen Tingwei suddenly became a little confused.

Kang Tong next to him suddenly murmured under the quilt: "I want to have a mother too."

Chen Tingwei suddenly felt a soreness in his heart. The messy thoughts in his mind were gone, leaving only a full of sorrow. He turned his head to look at him and asked softly, "Do you miss your mother?"

Kang Tong closed his eyes tightly and shook his head, but the tears from the cracks in his eyes made his eyelashes wet: "Weiwei, I want to go to bed."

Chen Ting didn't look at him, and was so soft that he sighed silently: "Do you want to stay here to sleep?"

Kang Tong still squeezed his eyes and didn't open his voice, his voice was dull: "Is that OK?"

"Of course." Chen Ting kissed him on the forehead without turning off the light, "Go to sleep."

Kang Tong sniffed and said, "Thank you."

Chen Ting smiled helplessly: "What are you grateful for?"

Kang Tong didn't say anything.

After a while, Chen Ting was speechless before he realized that Kang Tong was worried that he had a child, Lian Jue would pay attention to the newborn baby and no longer pay attention to him.

Thinking of this, Chen Ting didn't turn his head and faced Kang Tong, organized a speech in his heart and said to him: "Tongtong, even if your father has a new baby, he will still be nice to you. The babies in your uncle's belly are both father's children, so why doesn't dad love you?"

Kang Tong moved under the quilt for a moment, and suddenly said in a low voice: "...Dad doesn't like me."

Chen Ting was not silent. He didn't know how to explain Lian Jue to him. In fact, it was not what he thought. After a long time, he asked him again: "Tongtong, your father... your dear father, does he love you?"

Kang Tong was silent for a long time, and then he spoke with a sob: "Well..." He sobbed for a long time before continuing, "Every time the nurse in the hospital secretly brought milk and fruits to his father, he would quietly put it in my schoolbag... Dad said he should drink more milk to get healthier, and he was obviously sick himself..."

Chen Tingwei's eyes were a little sour, and he said softly: "...My father, although he always treats me very harshly and does not allow me to do anything that is not a good child, he really loves me...Do you know peony flowers? My grandfather's house used to have a large manor for raising seedlings and selling peony flowers. My father grew up in that manor, so the information... he always smells good peony fragrance in his body. Later, when his grandfather was old, he couldn't continue to operate and manage the manor, so my father replaced the flowers in the whole manor with jasmine... because I like jasmine."

Chen Ting has never come to this world, and he rarely lets himself take the initiative to recall what happened before. He is afraid that his emotions will collapse. But under the current circumstances, he really doesn't know how to comfort Kang Tong so that Kang Tong can understand Lian Jue more.

He took out two tissues from the paper pull box of the bedside table, handed them to Kang Tong, and took the other one and gently pressed them to his eyes.

"Tongtong, we are all very lucky people." Chen Tingwei's voice was a little hoarse and his voice was low.

He spoke very slowly, trying to make Kang Tong understand what he meant: "But you are different from your father, he..." Chen Ting did not pause for a moment, and the soreness that was overflowing from under his chest spread across his lips and teeth. He spoke with a little difficulty, "...He may have never been loved by anyone."

Kang Tong was stunned for a moment, his wide eyes filled with bright water vapor in the darkness.

Chen Ting coaxed him in a gentle voice: "So Tongtong, it's not that my father doesn't love you, but he doesn't know how to do it. You have to wait patiently, okay?"

Kang Tong nodded vigorously.

"Be good." Chen Ting didn't take the wet tissue from his hand and touched his head lovingly, "Isn't I still there? You will have a lot of love."

Tongtong's hand was carefully placed on his waist, as if he wanted to hug him, but when Shen Ting lie down again without throwing away the tissue, he changed to hugging his arm.

"Good night, Weiwei."

"Good night baby."
