Chapter 3 Hotel Madiel

Xiao Anzi stood in front of a black Buick car, looking anxiously at the watch on her wrist.

He had been waiting for more than an hour and had not seen his young master come out yet, so he couldn't help but become worried.

There was a commotion inside the train station. Military police and police surrounded the entire Songjiang Railway Station and even fired warning shots.

The military police escorted each passenger onto trucks, loaded the trucks, and took them away directly.

Xiao Anzi had an ominous premonition that something big must have happened inside the train station, otherwise there wouldn't have been a huge battle.

He locked the car and quickly walked to the phone booth next to the train station, preparing to call his home in Xinjing and exchange a message.

As soon as I picked up the phone, I heard a knock on the window of the phone booth.

Xiao Anzi looked back, with a surprise smile on his face: "Master!".

Chen Zhen got into the back seat, carefully placed the hat on his briefcase, and said to Xiao Anzi, who was sitting in the front passenger seat: "The weather in Harbin can freeze your chin off."

“No matter how much you wear it, it’s useless!”

"Find a good place tonight, have a good night's fun, and give me some time to relax!".

Xiao Anzi sat in the passenger seat and looked ahead, asking the driver to pay attention. Then he turned his head and replied loudly: "Young Master, I have already booked a room for you at the Madier Hotel."

"You're just going to have to settle down there for a couple of nights."

"The house that my wife has prepared for you has just been tidied up. It needs to be heated for two days before it can be occupied."

"The fourth young master of your Yue family and the Xi family is also purchasing leather in Harbin. When I heard that you had arrived, I also posted a message saying that I would treat you to dinner tomorrow."

"Jin Guirong also sent someone to ask you to have dinner at his house tomorrow night."

"By the way, Master Zheng is also at the Madier Hotel. I heard that you were arriving tonight, so he asked for a large private room and found a bunch of ocean horses. He said that there was a countess in there!"

"I told you to take care of yourself!"

Chen Zhen stretched his body, groaned twice, waved his hand in front of him, letting Xiao Anzi play freely, and closed his eyes to rest.

Just as I was about to leave the platform, I found that the entire train station was surrounded by the secret police and Japanese military police.

In order to avoid trouble, Chen Zhen walked to the back of the parking lot and walked for a mile through the snow before he walked around without being taken away by the military police.

He also asked him to bury the remaining firecrackers and Camel cigarettes in the briefcase in a snowdrift to destroy any trace of them.

We followed the path trodden by railway workers and left no footprints.

The ticket was also torn into pieces, leaving no trace of having been to the train station.

The car drove forward and arrived at the Madier Hotel on Central Street.

Xiao Anzi quickly got out of the car, opened the back door, and saw that his eldest young master still had his eyes closed, so he said softly: "Young master, the Madiel Hotel has arrived!".

Chen Zhen opened his sleepy eyes and looked at the brightly lit streets outside. To the right of the car window was his destination, the Madiel Hotel.

Throwing the briefcase in his hand to Xiao Anzi, Chen Zhen stepped out of the car and carefully looked at the number one hotel in Harbin in front of him.

Colored lights surround a two-meter plaque, illuminating the five characters of Hotel Madiel, making it look very majestic.

The buildings in Harbin all have a strong Eastern European style, and the Madier Hotel is no exception.

A writer from the Beijing Daily once praised it as the most beautiful and luxurious hotel in Manchukuo.

The facilities are luxurious, the service is attentive, and even the balcony is a special feature.

Like many buildings on Central Avenue, the overhanging balcony of the Madiel Hotel often doubles as an awning at the entrance.

The design of the parapet wall is even more outstanding, reflecting the beauty of the design.

It occupies the top of the four facades of the building and is shaped like a chicken's crown, a wonderfully detailed shape.

The parapet wall is mainly made of brick masonry, using soft and flexible various Art Nouveau curve shapes.

Either a sharp falling curve into the water, or a rounded elliptical scroll curve.

It is very imposing and dynamic, and the whole hotel seems to be alive and ready to fly.

A waiter in a tuxedo stood at the door, respectfully greeting passengers.

The rest of Harbin has long been dark, but Central Street is still brightly lit.

Chen Zhen took a look and clicked his tongue twice, feeling that Harbin was much more lively than Xinjing.

The foreman at the door had already noticed the car not far away.

That's the latest Buick model, and you can't buy it even if you have money.

There are many wealthy people in Harbin because it is the center of trade with Russia, and there are many country bumpkins who have made fortunes through foreign trade.

The young man wearing a trench coat in front of him has an extraordinary bearing. He looks like a member of a noble family, and he is different from those nouveau riche.

Such a master must be extra careful and serve him well.

The service was good and the tip was generous, enough to feed my family for a month.

But if things don't go your way, eating two big-ear posts is a minor offense, and being beaten up has also happened.

Waiters only rely on their eyesight to make a living. It took me two years to go from being a handyman to being the foreman at the door.

Thinking of this, the foreman carefully walked up to Chen Zhen, bent down slightly, and asked in a low voice: "Master, do you want to check in?".

Chen Zhen was still looking at the Madier Hotel and didn't say anything. Xiao Anzi, who was standing behind him, said, "Yes, I want to check in."

"I called earlier to book a suite. There is luggage in the trunk. Help me move it in!" After saying that, he bit off his deerskin glove, took out a new ten-dollar bill from his pocket, and slapped it on the foreman's hand.

The foreman glanced at the color of the banknotes in his hand, immediately smiled, trotted to the trunk of the car, and took out two large suitcases.

"Do you have any popsicles here?"

Xiao Anzi and the foreman were carrying luggage when they heard Chen Zhen's sudden inquiry.

Xiao Anzi looked confused. He had never stayed at the Madier Hotel, so he could only give the foreman next to him a wink.

The foreman put the suitcase gently on the curb and replied respectfully: "The popsicles in our hotel are the most famous in Harbin!"

"Many dignitaries from Beijing were full of praise after tasting it."

“There is a restaurant on the first floor, you can try it!”.

Chen Zhen nodded and said to little Anzi without looking back: "Anzi, you take my luggage to the room, and I'll go eat a popsicle."

"There are some clothes that I like in the luggage. Hang them up so they don't get wrinkled!" After saying that, he walked towards the Madiel Hotel.

Seeing the eldest young master walking in, Xiao Anzi shouted anxiously: "Master, Master Zheng is waiting for you at 101!".

Chen Zhen also heard it and waved his hand to show that he understood.

Walking into the Madier Hotel, Chen Zhen grew up in fine clothes and fine food, but he was also surprised by the gorgeous interior of the hotel.

The walls of the hall are either decorated with elegant murals or veneered with mirrors.

The column ends are decorated with exquisite carvings.

The brass stair railings were polished to a shiny shine, spiraling up and full of soft lines.
