Chapter 47 The Eerie Ancient Tomb

Time slipped away quietly with the sound of hammers with a very rhythmic sense of hammers. Before Kara could notice when it was dark, she was surprised to find that the sun had risen again.

A new day, a new job, the sound of jingling forging still came out of the cave without stopping, and then dissipated in the air.

"Dang...dang...dang..." Saren heard the sound of the blacksmith shop coming from a distance, rubbed his sleepy eyes and got up.

After washing up, he packed his room and went downstairs. Karen was already sitting in the hall, talking and laughing with the local residents.

"Good morning, Savos," Karen called out in surprise when he saw the young innkeeper coming downstairs, "Is there any breakfast available today?"

"Yes, of course, but you have to pay," Saren was startled when he heard Karen's voice, and soon felt relieved, showed a warm smile, and greeted the guests in the hall.

It is the off-season for hotels, and no outsiders pass through the village. During this period, only villagers will come to drink, eat, and chat, which makes Saren... Savos feel very bored.

Night soon came, and to the general eyes, it was just another very common working day for an ordinary hotel owner, Savos, but when all the residents of the town returned to their homes and the gates of the Vines Blood were closed, another story was about to begin.

The legendary hero Saren brought a chair, sat with Karen, and told another legendary story by the fire.

◇◇◇◇◇

The foundation of the castle was completed, but I was not happy at all. It seemed that our actions to build the city walls and tall buildings here angered some of the vengeful spirits in the forest. During this period, they have become more and more manic and have appeared in our sight more than once.

The first time they appeared was the week after the wall was completed. At that time, I was commanding the soldiers to move the logs into the wall, and they appeared... There were five in total, all of which were as dark blue as Old Charlie said.

I could see them as angry as human faces, and the ghost in the center looked at us, suddenly raised his head and let out a harsh roar.

I can guarantee that it was the most harshest and most uncomfortable sound I have ever heard in my life. I felt a sensation and the desire to vomit grew wildly in my heart. The other soldiers were even more unbearable. Many people covered their ears and fell to the ground in pain.

I watched the soldiers fall to the ground one after another, and hurriedly looked at the soldiers carrying the logs and they fell to the ground, and a man's legs were broken by the logs.

The attack had a very bad effect on the soldiers. The soldiers who were hit by the log rested on the bed for three months before they could barely walk. The other soldiers were panicked and their morale was floating.

I could understand their inner fear. Before that day, I guess many soldiers did not regard the undead as a real thing, even Joseph, who was quite surprised when he saw those blue figures.

"The fairy is on," I heard Joseph murmuring to himself, and my whole body kneeled on the enemy and began to pray, "They were all real..."

Scade was a little better, but he was also hit hard. The morale of the camp dropped very much. I went out to patrol that night and found that nine out of ten tents were still on, in the middle of the night.

In the next month, the ghosts appeared three more times. Fortunately, they did not roar with strange anger, but just floated in the air, continuing to watch us angrily put the main body of the castle little by little.

But their appearance still had a very bad impact on the soldiers. Everyone's work efficiency was more than half lower than the initial construction of the wall. "It's not a solution, Salon," I looked at them and told myself, deciding to talk about the undead with openness.

"Joseph, Scade, help me gather all the soldiers on the construction site, I have something to say." After the undead disappeared again, I called the pale Joseph and Scade, who was facing a great enemy, and let them gather all the soldiers together.

The soldiers quickly assembled in the open space in the wall, their heads raised high, and each of them had straight waists, but their pale faces and thick dark circles exposed their inner fear.

"Soldiers, officers," I understand that I can't wait any longer. The fear of the undead will sooner or later destroy the unit. "I know, in the past month, you have been scared, and I know what you are afraid of, those damn undead."

"I can understand your fear. Who has seen the undead in this world? You don't, you don't, so everyone will be scared, but I have to tell you that I have seen these moving corpses!"

"What I want to tell you is that these moving corpses and floating ghosts are actually no big deal. I have seen them and killed them. They are also creatures. They will also be injured by swords, which means they will die too! So I hope you will muster up the courage in your next work. As long as we are united, there will be no difficulties that cannot be overcome! For Valenlia!"

I admit that my speech was bad, but fortunately it still worked. Many people seemed to believe in the fact that I had killed the undead. Most of the soldiers recovered their morale and smiles finally appeared on their faces again.

Many people came to ask me in private if I had actually killed the dead souls. I told them one by one about my experiences at Diloreth, which I guess also boosted morale to a certain extent.

As I expected, the dead souls in the Karen Forest did not intend to give up easily. A few days after I talked to the soldiers, a small group of evil ghosts soon appeared in the Karen Forest not far away.

They had resentful faces and ice-blue bodies, and no one spoke, so the evil ghosts were just looking at our camp quietly.

Many soldiers subconsciously fell into panic, but the speech I gave seemed to be quite useful. Some soldiers quickly remembered what I said and returned to calmness.

I really don't have any interest in mentioning how many times this guy appeared in the next time. In short, they have caused a lot of trouble to my construction project.

Fortunately, the main building of the castle has finally been completed, and I can finally free up my hands and troops to explore this mysterious and ancient forest in depth.

On a new day, I called Joseph and asked him to pick a good horse for me and then pick ten soldiers with good bodies for me.

"As for the order," Joseph bowed to me, then turned around and drove away.

I decided to take only ten Qing soldiers to the forest and check what happened to the ancient tombs.

"Do you really not consider bringing me or Scaide?" Joseph hesitated and looked at me, "We will be good helpers in the battle."

"No," I shook my head, "no one knows what's in that forest or that crypt. You and Scade are both my elites, and I dare not take the risk of bringing you all in."

"But at least we have to keep a smooth communication with you." Joseph also planned to argue, but Saren covered his mouth, "I will prepare for communication. Now, go and choose someone for me, and release this news."

Ten elite soldiers who were good at riding were soon assembled. They would be the first pioneers and follow me to search for this ancient tomb.

Everyone brought a large pot of crossbow arrows and a long sword. I led them and rode horses to wait at the north gate of the camp. He kept asking me to remember to stay and wait for him, and claimed that he would give me a gift.

Joseph quickly ran up, and behind him was a person who was dragging a big bag, "Who is he?" I asked at the stranger who was dragging a big bag.

"He is a businessman," Joseph quickly answered, "I bought some clothes from him that are unique to Palik for your soldiers, who are said to be able to withstand snowstorms or severe cold."

He took the package from the merchant, untied the knot, and soon sent a set of clothes to everyone.

"Prepare to set off," I shouted loudly after everyone got their clothes. The elites quickly reacted, put on their clothes, and lined up to walk out of the north gate.

"Hell!" I shook the reins hard, and the horse under my feet began to slowly walk forward. "By the way, Joseph," I looked at the two people waiting for me at the gate of the camp and called out Joseph's name. "If I haven't come back for three days, tell everyone that I can't come back. You can take the rest of the people and run as far as you can, so don't find me."

"Sir..." Joseph showed a embarrassed look when he heard this, and Scade next to him looked reluctant to speak.

"Damn it, this is an order, you must obey!" I looked at their expressions and was a little angry: "If I can't handle the things in it, you will be even more unable to handle them. Remember me, three days! Go!"

I decided to cut the mess quickly. After leaving these words, I shook the whip on my hand. The horse quickly ran up and left the huge camp behind.

A total of eleven horses marched north along the road until they were blocked by the north wall.

"Stop, who! The north is too dangerous, you can't go!" I rode my horse under the wall. Before I could get close, I heard a warning on the wall.

Two soldiers stood on the wall and looked at me with serious and worried eyes. They seemed to have not noticed that I was Lancelot, perhaps because the wall was too far from the ground.

"I am Lancelot, open the gate to the north!" I rode under the wall and shouted at it.

"Is it you, sir?" The soldiers above were silent for a while, and one of them asked uncertainly. I stood patiently and waited for him to confirm my identity.

"It's the adult, red hair, armor, and that magical sword, open the door!"

Amid the commands on the wall, the heavy door leading to the north quickly opened slowly from the middle, and when the gap between the doors was enough for the knight to pass through, I drove through the middle with my horse.

Outside the wall is the Karen Forest. I stopped in front of the forest for a while, and after everyone gathered, I changed into a tight formation and slowly walked into the forest.

Unlike the forests I have traveled before, or the ones I have wandered through, the Karen Forest gives people a gloomy and cold feeling. Even in the hottest summers, it is difficult for me to see too many bright things or sunshine here.

I don't know if it was an hallucination or something, but I vaguely felt something watching us, from behind the bushes and woods, which had been lingering in my heart since I stepped into this forest, making me feel very uncomfortable.

What puzzles me is that the road under my feet is still built by hand and in good condition, which shows that someone has been active here.

"Snap the pace. I don't want to spend the night in such a weird wood." The strange atmosphere around me became heavier and heavier. I decided to increase my speed and find the ancient Gothic tomb as soon as possible to end it all.

My words were supported and agreed by other soldiers, so we changed from trotting to galloping, and the dense sound of horse hooves quickly began to echo in this forest.

We ran along that road, and our vision kept sweeping back and forth in the forests on both sides of the road, praying for what we could find.

Suddenly, it seemed like an illusion that I felt something skipping past me at an extremely fast speed.

"Sir, I saw a blue shadow that flashed from my left!" A soldier suddenly said in panic. I knew what he saw was not hallucinations, nor was I seen. My body began to feel a slight chill, which was hard to remind people of those dark blue figures.

"Sir, I saw it, I saw it! That grave is at the end of the road!" I suppressed my anxiety and continued to ride deep into the forest with the soldiers. Not long after, I heard the surprise coming from the soldiers in front of me and shouted freely.

"Huh" I let out a long breath. Not to mention them, I have had enough of this gloomy forest with a biting chill. "Everyone dismounted at the door of the grave, let's go in and find out!"

We dismounted our horses at the door of the grave and tied them all to nearby pillars, and then I began to look at the ancient tomb.

Like Diloreth, this is also a tomb made of obsidian and ordinary granite. The circular vaults and columns of the Gothic signs are evenly distributed in front of the tomb. The door made of obsidian is tightly locked, and the braziers on both sides of the door are ignited with strange blue flames.

Some runes with frost traces appeared faintly on the walls of the tomb. Like those dark blue souls, the runes were also dark blue, and were still emitting cold air.

There was a lock with no structure on the door. The runes on the lock prevented me from thinking that I was going to smash it directly.

Unlike other tombs, there is a small stone platform in front of the door of this tomb, and there is a bowl with a skull-shaped appearance in the middle of the stone platform.

I came over and there was a line of words engraved on the stone platform, which was in ancient Gothic:

The blood of sacrifice opens the way forward.

It was an ancient Goth riddle. I cursed in secret. These are some defense mechanisms designed in the graves of Goths. If you don’t know the answer, you will never be able to enter.

Fortunately, this one is not difficult to guess. I took off my left glove, asked for a dagger from a soldier, and cut a hole in the palm of my hand.

Blood dripped out, and soon filled the shallow bowl on the stone platform. A faint blue light burst out from the gate of the tomb, accompanied by the creaking sound of ancient mechanisms.
