Chapter 22 In-depth investigation
Early the next morning, I came directly to the Academic Affairs Building.
Since I have already found a direction for investigation, I don’t plan to waste my time. The sooner this matter is resolved, the better it will be for me.
As usual, I knocked on Zhuo's office door.
"Please come in." Her nice voice came out from inside. I opened the door and walked in quickly.
"Mr. Savos?" She looked up and looked surprised to see it was me. "Shouldn't you be in class now?"
"Let me go to class first," I took myself a glass of water, sat on the sofa and began to tell the purpose of my coming: "I came because that thing is obvious."
"Really?" She covered her mouth with surprise, "You are really a hunter sent by the guild. What kind of help do you need me to help you?"
“I need information about all the students who live in this area,” I took out my map and placed it on her desk. “I’m sure the vampires are hiding in this area.”
"Do you mean they are students of our academy?" Zhuo glanced at the map briefly, raised his head and said in disbelief. "It's hard to imagine that there are such evil existences hidden in those souls seeking knowledge."
"I know this place," she looked at the map again, pulled open her drawer, and took out a key from it. "There are all students in the Steam Engineering Department living in this place. I don't have their details, but I have a basic backup of the board here."
As she said, she opened the information cabinet on the left wall with the key and quickly pulled out one from the vast sea of files for me, "This is the backup of that information. You must remember to return it to me after reading it. If you need more detailed information, I am afraid I can't do anything about it, so I can't let the prefecture committee know about it."
"Of course," Zhuo quickly added after apologizing: "If you can find a suitable reason to convince the board, I think things will be much easier."
"It's enough to have a name," I took the file and waved at her, "Thank you, Miss Zhuo."
"It's my responsibility, Mr. Savos," Zhuo sent me to the door of the office. "I hope this can be resolved as soon as possible, but I think you should still take the course normally. The senior college leaders do not have much energy to deal with the teacher's complaints against you. Can you understand what I mean?"
"I understand." I nodded, put the information into my bag, said goodbye to Zhuo, and left the academic affairs building.
The first class was a waste of time. I happened to study the two lists in my hand now, but I can't be here.
I took the information given by Zhuo and quickly returned to the dormitory, then took out the list of students I bought from the union and started comparing.
The range of possible things I have circled is not very large. Here we live in eighteen students, ten men, eight women, and nine wooden houses.
These eighteen students are all first-year freshmen, and now it is exactly the second half of their semester.
This way things are right. Vampires must be freshmen who just joined the first year, so all vampires only happen in this school year.
After comparing the news, I looked at the clock on the wall. The National Comprehensive College class was forty-five minutes, and now there were fifteen minutes left. Maybe I could do something with this time.
I stood up and planned to go to their dormitory, but soon this idea was dispelled by myself. It was too risky to run over like this. I had no support in this school. Once exposed, the situation would become very dangerous.
In addition, I am a student in the entire department of the 11th Department, and all of these people are first-year students in the Steam Engineering Department. I have plenty of time to contact each of them.
So I looked at the class schedule, and coincidentally, the second class this morning was the theoretical course of steam engineering.
"It's really good," I happily packed all the information, put it in the study drawer of the wooden house, and locked the drawer. I didn't expect any accidents in these things.
The end time of the first class is almost over. I sorted out my backpack, put in a few basic theoretical textbooks, and prepared to attend my first class at the National Comprehensive College.
As soon as I walked out of this small villa, I heard a melodious bell sound from the teaching area in the distance. A large number of students rushed out of various classrooms and hurried into the next classroom.
I speeded up and soon found my classroom in the neatly arranged teaching building.
The classroom here is no different from the Bard College. When I entered the classroom, the bottom lecture area was empty and most of the locations were empty.
Usually I choose a lower position and closer to the lecturer and the classroom to learn more easily, but today I have other purposes.
I found a random spot in the highest row and put down my books and backpack. Only the highest and last row are the most convenient to observe other students.
The free time between the two classes was not too long, and the melodious bell rang again quickly. A small group of students rushed into the classroom, occupying the last remaining position in the crowd in turn.
After a while, the footsteps came from the lecturer area. A middle-aged man wearing leather armor and simple hairstyle walked out of the passage and walked to the podium in the center.
"Good morning everyone, welcome to my class. I am a tutor in the Steam Engineering Department. Most of the people should know me, ah! I saw you, Mr. Savos, your interview really impressed the entire college."
The teacher's eyesight was obviously good. After looking around, he found me sitting in the last row. Suddenly, the eyes of the entire classroom were focused on me.
"For you, I think I need to introduce myself again," the teacher said suddenly and politely, "My name is Hexis Aktull, you can call me Hexis Mentor."
"I'm glad to know you," I stood up and saluted the teacher under the gaze of everyone, "Teacher Hexes."
"You are very polite, Mr. Savos," Hexsis nodded with satisfaction, and then clapped his hands hard, "Okay, gentlemen, girls, can you please take your eyes off the respected Mr. Savos? I think it's my time to go to class."
In the following time, I watched every student in the classroom as Hexes explained some basic steam engineering knowledge.
I got the names of the eighteen people from Zhuo, and unfortunately I didn't know their appearance, which turned my search into a meaningless move.
"Maybe I should have gone to their villa to check it out," I retracted my gaze and thought with some annoyance.
Now, I just hope that Hexis can ask any of them to answer the question. For me, this should be the most hidden and safest way to obtain information.
I looked at the classroom again. It was not big, with only about one hundred students. Judging from this number, as long as my luck was not bad, Hexes should name people I need to know.
"Okay, I want to ask you to answer my question and see if you have listened carefully before."
Hexis's voice came from below, and I stood up from my seat at once, and finally reached the part that I was most interested in.
"First of all," Hexis cleared his throat and slowly pronounced a name: "Richard Hart, are you here? Mr. Richard Hart?"
"I'm here, respected mentor Hexis," a voice came from the lower left of my left, and I immediately turned my head to look, and a young man with an unusually pale face raised his left hand and stood up tremblingly, "Please ask."
His appearance, appearance and manner made me remember him all of a sudden. Few people's skin can be so white. This is not natural white, but more like bone white or dead white. From this perspective, Mr. Richard Hart is a vampire.
But I'm not sure, no one can be sure, unless I find a way to hurt him, just look at what color the blood he drips out, and you can determine his identity.
"Very good, Richard Hart," Hexis nodded in praise, "I like students who are persistent like you," he praised Richard, while pronounced it word by word: "How to judge the strength of the hinge?"
This is not a very difficult question. Even I, a layman who just reads books, can answer it. Hart just thought for a moment and quickly answered.
I didn't pay much attention to the Q&A on this question, and I didn't pay much attention to the courses that were still continuing. After discovering Hart's abnormality, all my thoughts were already focused on his identity.
"Maybe it's time to go to your side tonight," I whispered in a low voice, and made a decision.
If Richard Hart was a vampire, then his roommates were most likely to be vampires, and only in this way could they be safely in the same room.
I took out my draft and wrote it on the first page using encryption method: Richard Hart, and then wrote a note later on "Suspected Vampire".
After recording the news, I no longer paid attention to him. Paying too much attention to him will attract the other party's attention. I don't want to call attention at all now.
Hexis took a short break, and the course passed thirty minutes without realizing it. When I put the draft book with Hart's abnormality into my backpack, he just started to talk about the next paragraph.
Unfortunately, until the class was completely over and he announced the end of the get out of class, Hexis did not call out more names of people I knew, which gave me a good opportunity to unscrupulously identify and analyze them.
The bell rang quickly, and everyone ran out of the classroom like a released beast.
After saying hello to Hexis, I left the teaching area. I don’t care what the next class will be. If I want to go to Richard Hart tonight, I think I will have to go to the guild soon. I have to prepare some silver equipment there, so that when I go to Richard Hart’s dormitory, I feel more safe.
When I passed by the college gate, the police on duty greeted me. It seemed that my dark brown hair and face were clearly known by the entire Cabofez.
After saying hello to the guards, I turned around and followed the path led by Christo to the gate of the Silver Blood Hotel.
After repeatedly confirming that no one was following me, I opened the door of the Silver Blood Hotel. People here generally knew what the hotel represented. I didn’t want people in the school to discover the connection between me and the vampire hunter.
"Savos, you're here again!" As soon as I walked into the hotel, Christo's voice came out of the crowd.
"Yes, I'm here again," I raised my glass to chat with the hunters around me, forced them all away, walked to the familiar bar, and ordered a glass of whiskey.
"What are you doing when you're back?" Vic asked while wiping the table.
"My progress is even greater than I thought," I replied in a low voice, "I have to go to the evening to see if the object I doubt is a vampire."
"You are moving very fast," Vic exclaimed, "What do you want?"
"Silver long and short weapons," I said quickly, which was something I had decided to choose before. "My melee skills are too weak. I think two silver weapons with long and short division of labor can provide me with great help."
"Do you want anti-vampire leather armor?" Christo asked in a lowered voice.
"Yes, of course," I nodded quickly. I still remember the last time the leather armor was made. Sebastian said it was not bought by me, so he didn't bring it to me. I also thought the leather armor was too conspicuous and agreed to his words.
Now that I have the opportunity to buy a new set, I will not refuse it. I have never missed the reason for this kind of good thing.
"How much?"
Seeing Vic reach out and making a payment move, I asked immediately.
"I like you," Vic pointed at me and laughed, "Five guild gold coins in leather armor, this is a unified price, a silver weapon, two of them count for you five gold coins. Just like the last time's information, I'll give you half and pay me five gold coins."
I nodded, quickly took out my purse from my pocket, counted out five guild gold coins and pressed them on the table.
"I just like hunters like you," Vic smiled and retracted his body back to the bar, and took back the gold coins. "After going out, I received the goods in the trash can by the wall. Remember to come again if you need it next time."
"Sure," I nodded to him and Christo. I also like their style of doing things. As long as I have enough money, the guild can handle everything for me.
Finally, I greeted them and dealt with the hunters who knew me and surrounded me. I walked out of the gate of the Silver Blood Hotel.
It was clearly morning, but it was a little dark, and dark clouds were gathering towards this area, and it seemed that a heavy rain would come soon.
I accelerated my pace and found the goods I wanted in the trash can by the wall: a silver sword, a silver dagger, a complete set of anti-vampire leather armor, and two sheaths.
The Vampire Hunter Guild's efficiency is still as fast as ever. I took the items out of the trash can one by one, stuffed them into my backpack, and returned to the academy with my bag. I still have a class in the morning.
But my mind has completely floated to the investigation activity to be carried out in the evening. I have a premonition that Hart is just the most inconspicuous marginal character in this matter. If my action tonight can be successful, more clues and information should also surface.
Of course, with it, there are greater risks and more dangerous situations.
