Chapter 8 Farewell
The next day we got up early and started driving. The fog around us was very thick, which was not a good sign.
I remembered that night and couldn't help but shudder, but I wasn't sure, maybe it was just ordinary fog.
I could tell that Trazo was also very nervous. He didn't say a word all morning, he just kept increasing the power of the steam car.
By noon, we could already feel the warmth of the sun spreading through the fog, but the fog still did not dissipate.
"This is not normal, child." Terrazzo said. We all know that the fog will dissipate when the sun comes out. This scene clearly violates the laws of nature.
I nodded, thinking back to the night when Strader showed up. What would I do if he showed up today?
We had a hasty lunch without saying a word, and the atmosphere became extremely dull. After getting in the car, Terrazo just told me to be careful, and then continued on our way without saying a word.
The answer to the mystery was revealed in the afternoon. The steel on the car was rusting rapidly. Looking out the window, the trees that were not covered by the fog were dying rapidly.
This just fulfills the song: "When he comes, all things will become old."
So we were sure that Strahd had returned to the world and was very close to us. Stradro thought that we shouldn't waste time, so he started to repair the vehicle, and I went to help.
We removed the rust from most of the car within a quarter of an hour and hurriedly hit the road, but we all knew in our hearts that this was in vain. If Strader's route was this way, he would catch up with us sooner or later.
The encounter happened in the evening of that day, when the sun was about to set. The car had completely decayed due to Strader's approach and turned into a pile of scrap metal. It is worth mentioning that the things on our bodies were not affected. Maybe it was because he could not
exert this influence directly on human beings.
He himself did not show up, maybe we were just two unlucky wretches on his path, and he was not coming for us.
I laughed, and the laughter was very bitter. He had no reason to target two mortals, even if one of them was a rune master.
I thought about my former home, and thought that I might have accidentally walked into Strader's path and was crushed to death like an ant.
A large number of black-armored knights surrounded our car. We felt the cold air coming from their armor. It was not just a feeling, but they were actually emitting cold air. There was already a thin layer of frost on the surrounding dead trees.
.
Terrazo escorted me out of the carriage. No one spoke, and no one attacked us. Maybe they couldn't speak in the first place.
"Child, you have to be careful." Trazhuo whispered to me, and I could feel his voice trembling.
The black knights did not move. They surrounded us with guns. I couldn't count how many black knights there were. I tried my best to count, but more black knights emerged from the mist every second.
"Don't waste time." An emotionless voice came from deep in the fog. I guessed it was Strader. If so, it was the first time I heard his voice.
This also proves my judgment that he is indeed not coming for us.
Then I felt so angry that I almost lost my mind. It was the pain of being ignored by others. To be honest, if I knew that he came for us and deliberately killed my family, I would still do it.
Feel better.
That at least proves that their deaths were not in vain, they died for a certain reason.
My eyes were splitting, and I was about to rush out and fight Strader's servants, when a hand pressed on my shoulder.
It was Trazhuo. He knew that I was in a bad state without even looking. "Kid, calm down." He said softly, which made me wake up a little.
I became extremely frustrated because I realized that I couldn't get in front of Strahd and even spit on him. And I was about to die. The black knights at the front had already raised their heads.
Spears were fired, and the horses under them began to neigh.
At this moment I saw Terrazo make a gesture, and then his voice reached my ears.
"space."
I opened my eyes wide and had no time to think about why he was proficient in such profound things. A blue light burst out in front of my eyes, and I lost all vision in the next few seconds.
Then my vision slowly recovered, and I discovered that there was a rectangular door-like thing in front of me, with a dazzling blue light emitting from the edge.
Then I felt myself flying up and Terrazo threw me out, aiming for the door in mid-air.
I instinctively felt something and realized that this might be the last time I saw Terrazo. I looked at him, and he was also looking at me, with kind eyes and the same smile as the day he found me. His mouth was soft.
Squirming slightly, I couldn't hear what he said, but I read it.
"Goodbye, kid."
Then I threw myself into the door, and the door began to close slowly.
The flow of time seemed to be slowed down ten thousand times, and the blue door slowly closed. I stayed inside the door and saw the black knights launching a charge. I saw Tradra laughing maniacally. He took off his clothes.
I took off that pure white robe, and then I heard his voice.
"Thunder and lightning!" The voice was full of anger and power, which was very different from his usual kind tone. I saw dark clouds covering the sky, and two electric currents visible to the naked eye flowed down from them. One flowed through his body and formed a solid side.
One shield, another flowed and extended in his hand, and finally formed a spear that shone with dazzling electric light.
I saw him laughing loudly, raising his spear to face the charging black knights. He waved the spear in his hand, and the black knights in the front turned on their backs; he summoned a strong wind, and the knights following him were torn into countless pieces.
; He prayed for flames, and countless black knights were burned to ashes; he called for water, and mercilessly swallowed up large numbers of black knights.
Then I saw endless black knights rushing towards him. They dropped their weapons, jumped on his body, and were electrocuted into charcoal. But more black knights followed closely, so I saw his shield
The electric light emitted from it disappeared little by little until it was completely swallowed up by darkness.
In the moment before the door closed, I saw countless black knights charging, piercing their companions and the kind old man together.
I felt extremely sad, but I didn’t have time to cry. As soon as the door closed, I felt a strong force coming, followed by a spinning feeling. I don’t know how long this feeling lasted. I only knew that the last bright light came, and then
I rolled out of that dark space.
I sat up and found myself in a forest. A deer was running towards the distance, obviously frightened by me. The fog had dissipated, the sun shone into the forest, and the light spots scattered on the grass.
This should be a beautiful sight, but I am not happy about it.
I remembered the first time I met Trazhuo. He was a stern teacher, but also a kind old man. I remembered every bit of his time with me.
I thought of his voice and smile, how he taught me how to do Rubik's Cube training, and how angry and worried he was after I set myself on fire.
Then I felt a sore nose, hugged my lute and cried bitterly on the ground.
Then I started playing his favorite song and kept playing until it got dark.
My throat sang until it was hoarse, my fingers were full of blood, and the blood stained the strings. I kept playing until the moonlight shone into the woods. I tried to empty my head until I fell asleep.
When I woke up again, it was noon again, and I no longer knew what day it was. In fact, I had a way to remember dates, which Trazo taught me, but I didn’t want to use it now, not until the wound healed.
I checked the things around me: a canvas backpack, a knife, a dozen copper coins, a silver coin, a kettle, and the "Elementary Chemistry" that Terrazo had just given me.
Other than that, I don't have anything else.
I stood up, and the discomfort in my throat reminded me that I should find something to drink, water or anything else.
On the ground were the hoof prints left by yesterday's deer. I followed the hoof prints and soon found a clear spring in a dense fir forest. Although I was very thirsty, I only took a sip.
Take a small sip and fill the kettle.
Then I cut off some branches from the tree and carefully placed a simple rabbit trap. Then I picked up some larger branches to use as firewood at night.
Although I said it very quickly, these things were a lot of work for me who was only nine years old. By the time I finished all this and lit a small fire with rune magic, several hours had passed.
.
At this time, I returned to the spring. Since nothing happened for several hours, it was enough to prove that the spring was safe. I drank several large gulps of the clear spring water.
My stomach began to growl, and I hadn't eaten for more than a day. I sat by the pond, pulled up some edible weeds from the ground, and swallowed them along with the sap scraped from the trees.
It was such a bad taste that you wouldn't want to eat it a second time, but I didn't have a choice.
Then I saw a large dark cloud floating over. I guessed that it might be the dark cloud summoned by Terrazo, but no matter what, I knew that there might be a heavy rain soon, so I hid under a lush cedar tree.
It took several hours to build a rough shed out of fallen leaves, branches and weeds. It wasn't very spacious, but it was enough to keep out wind and rain.
Then I went to check my trap, and a rabbit was struggling in the trap. I remembered that Raz taught me how to hunt rabbits.
Then I inserted the knife into the body of the hare, and the blood flowed out, which reminded me of the lance that had gone through Trazo's body, and also reminded me of the cook in the convoy.
I felt nauseous and couldn't stop retching.
This made me even weaker, so I kept telling myself that this was necessary. In order to avoid being affected by emotions again, I put myself into a "heart of stone" state and continued to deal with the rabbit.
In the "Heart of Stone" state, it only took me three minutes to clean up the rabbit, but the indifference and indifference made me sick, so I immediately backed out. Thinking of my performance just now, I vomited again.
