Chapter 9 The Manic Spirit
"Good ambition, the boy from the Golden Lion family," the door creaked open, and Lagotila walked in from outside with a smile, interrupting Hickrad's bold words.
I looked at Hickrad with some amusement and embarrassingly retracted his raised hands and sat at the table like a good baby again, "I'll make you laugh, Lagotira."
"No, I have no intention of making fun of you," Lagotila looked at Hickrad with admiration, holding two small amulets in his hand. "In my opinion, faith is more important than your strength."
He stretched out his hand and placed two amulets on the table. The amulets were made of oak. The brown amulets seemed to have undergone some special treatment, flashing with a strange luster similar to metal. The golden energy kept flowing on the surface of the amulet, which was the divine power from Lagotila.
Only then did I notice the tiredness deep in Lagotila's eyes. Although he covered it up well, he could still see that making these two amulets was very expensive for him.
"This is what I promised to you. The method of using is very simple. Just carry it close to you. The druids have made them easy-to-wear ropes," he pointed to the thin rope that passed through the small hole above the amulet. "Of course, if you don't like wearing this kind of jewelry, it won't affect its effect even if you put it close to you."
"Thank you, Lagotila," I reached out and picked up the amulet close to me, tied it to my neck, "It's not bad to wear it."
"Needless to say thank you," Lagotila took a drink, "After all, I need you to work hard for me, and the opponent you are facing is not ordinary bandits or soldiers."
"Okay, stop talking nonsense," he stood up, "this night has just begun, you'd better go out as soon as possible to avoid any accidents."
"You're right," I drank the rest of the drink in one sip and stood up, "Let's go."
"Naruy, I'm going to take them to find the Spirit of Nature!" Lagotila shouted, "During the time I left, you should take good care of their companions and the moon association for me!"
"Don't worry, the great Lagotila," Naroy raised his staff, "no evil dares to invade this sacred forest!"
Lagotila nodded with satisfaction and directed the druids to hang the rope ladder from the canopy, and the long rope ladder fell along the rough bark.
We stepped on the shaking ladder again, and the rustling sound accompanied us until we stepped on the soft grass again.
"Come with me," Lagotila waved, "the place where I trapped that guy is not too close to it."
We followed him quietly. For Lagotila, the entire forest was under his control. We never had to worry about crashing into a dead end or having no way out, because as long as Lagotila waved his hand, the trees would respectfully give up a spacious avenue, just as if a soldier had met a general.
We walked along the path opened by Lagotila. Unlike usual, Lagotila seemed very quiet at this time. The moonlight hit him, and the silver-white light mixed with the light yellow divine light on his body, turning into a rich and bright yellow like exquisite silk.
"We're almost here, be prepared," Lagotila suddenly said, he hadn't spoken for so long that it took me a while to react and nodded.
To be honest, although I haven't been with Lagotila for a long time, I can feel that he is not the kind of dull and serious person, but now he looks very serious. I know what this means that the corrupted forest spirit is definitely not a simple character.
But I still underestimated Lagotila's strength, or in other words, I overestimated his ability to judge his strength.
Hickrad and I stared blankly at the three-story magic array in front of us, as well as the corrupted forest spirit trapped inside the magic array.
Well, I must admit that I was deceived by this name. When I heard this name and the description of Lagotila, what appeared in my mind was a small and cute little creature with green light, rather than the huge tree man in front of me who was seven or eight meters tall.
"Well..." As if he noticed my gaze, Lagotila coughed a little embarrassedly, "Yes, what you see is the forest spirit."
It did not recognize us, but it was obviously very impressed by Lagotila. When he appeared in its sight, the huge tree man almost immediately fell into a violent state. It kept waving its arms and hitting the magic circle in front of it frantically, but was easily bounced out by the magic circle.
"Roar!!! Waubakre!"
What scared me happened. The tree man suddenly opened his mouth, and waves of black air emerged from it. The leaves on its body also withered quickly after touching the black air.
But this is not what I fear the most. What I fear the most is the syllables it spits out. Although it sounds like meaningless nonsense, I quickly captured the strange rhythm contained in this sound.
This means that it is very likely to be a language, and being able to speak a language means that this damn forest spirit must have a considerable wisdom.
For a moment, I felt that Lagotila in front of me was not the son of a good god at all. He was more like those demons, seducing mortals to sign dangerous contracts full of loopholes and temptations.
"Don't worry," Lagotila suddenly coughed twice. "Although it does speak tree-man language, its intelligence is not very high. While those abyss forces corrupted it, they also seriously hurt its soul."
"Its intelligence level may be just like a five-year-old human child, so you don't have to worry too much."
I let out a sigh of relief, fortunately, things were not at the worst. If this powerful forest spirit had cunning wisdom that matched its existence, I thought it would be easier for Hickrad and I to give up directly.
"Go," Lagotila raised her left hand and drew a trace of golden light on both of us. "This is my divine mark, which allows you to pass through this seal smoothly. Of course, it is a one-off."
"Don't worry," he continued, "if you can't beat it, the amulet will become a semicircular divine shield to protect you."
"With the divine power contained above, you can successfully pass this seal and come outside again. How about it? I said that you will not be in danger of your life."
I looked at Hikrad and I, and if everything was the same as what Lagotila said, we would not be in any danger of life.
"How are you thinking about it? If you plan to go in, just say to me and I will put my mark on you."
"I'm ready, Lagotila," I nodded at him, "Let's get started."
"Very good," Lagotila nodded with satisfaction, "Where are you, Hickrad?"
"I will go wherever Salon goes."
"You are all real warriors," Lagotila took a step back, a strong golden light shining on his left hand, "The forest and nature will bless you, and wish you good luck."
With a slight popping sound, a faint golden light appeared on Hickrad's chest. It was not obvious, but the light was very stable.
"Are you ready, Hill?" I breathed out, took a deep breath, looked at Hickrad on the side, and asked in a trembling voice.
I was so excited that I couldn't even calm down my deep breathing. My hands and feet were trembling, so I chose to chat with Hickrad.
"Of course, I'll follow you closely, Sarah," Hickrad's voice was not much better than mine. "Oh my god, my blood is about to boil."
"Sarah," he suddenly looked at me seriously, "Do you think the Spirit of the Forest is considered a demigod?"
"Uh..." I scratched my head with some embarrassment, "You might ask Lagotila for this question."
"The adult forest spirit? Of course, although it is not as powerful as me, its life span is endless, and its power is also with this forest. It is considered a powerful demigod."
"But the one you are facing?" Lagotila shook her head, "It's certainly not. If he was a demigod, how could I let mortals seek death?"
"Okay," Hickrad sighed in some frustration, "I thought I could kill God."
"How are you doing well, Hill," I looked at Hicklad with some laughter and cry. He must have been blinded by the blood. 'We can't even beat the stronger vampires, so you're thinking about killing God?'
"That's right...wait, what's wrong with me?" Hickrad looked at me in a daze as if he was waking up from a dream, "God killing? This must be something that only madmen would think of."
"Maybe you're Dikema sucking too much," I looked at him with a smile. Dikema was a drug that was very popular in both the Empire and Strand. In my memory, only those addicts could speak such outrageous nonsense.
"Okay, let's go," I pulled out the broken steel. "Although it is not a god, it at least has divinity. In a sense, we are also considered god-killing."
Hickrad and I walked slowly to the edge of the sealing array one after another. The mark left by Lagotila on us suddenly shone brightly, and the seal in front of us also melted into a hole the size of a person.
When we all walked into the seal, the hole was again covered by complex runes and golden energy. After a wave of fluctuations, the energy on our body turned into particles and flew out, scattering in the air bit by bit.
"Very good," a tyrannical, full of anger suddenly rang in my mind, and I soon realized that this was probably the voice of the forest spirit, "It seems that you are the poor worm sent by the old guy Lagotila to die?"
"I really want to thank that old guy for his demigod identity," the forest spirit let out a refreshing and sinister laugh, "so he can only send poor people like you into this turtle shell."
"And torture you is my favorite entertainment," he continued to grin, "for the sake of your coming in and providing me with fun, I will give you a happy death after you have enjoyed it."
"I'm afraid your abacus will be lost. It's not certain who died today." I said with a cold face. What did Strad's crazy guy do to make the kind-hearted forest spirit turn into the hideous appearance in front of me?
"Very good," said the Forest Spirit viciously, "You have successfully angered me. I swear, you will experience the most painful way of death in the world. Perhaps at that time, you will cry and pray that I will give you a kind death."
"Stop talking nonsense!" It raised its head and roared, lifting its left hand, which was entirely made of wood and vines, and then smashed heavily toward our position.
"Does go!" I had only time to shout, and I lowered my body and quickly rolled to the left. The thick arm made of wood hit the position where we were originally standing. A deafening sound came, and the vines growing on the arms were waving wildly, bringing up huge rocks, and throwing them out randomly.
"It's really not over," I cursed in a low voice. Before I could adjust my somewhat disordered breathing, I suddenly rushed forward and avoided the millstone-sized stone that I had just been.
But this was obviously not over yet. The forest spirit let out a manic roar, and the arm that hit the ground suddenly moved and swept towards me horizontally.
The thick arms cleared all the obstacles blocking its way, mixed with the whistling sound of the wind hit me.
"Damn it, solid!"
I gritted my teeth hard, and I didn't care about my injuries that had not been fully recovered. If I had chosen between mental loss and death, I would rather choose the former.
The top of the rock broke through the soft soil and the lush grass on it, raised its head like a ground dragon, and quickly formed a thick stone wall in front of me.
I shook my dizzy head, took a few more breaths, and then slightly relieved the dizziness in my head. This is the sequelae of forcibly urging mental power.
The arms made of giant trees roughly destroyed one stone wall after another, and the broken stones collapsed everywhere. I gritted my teeth and increased the intensity of my mental power output.
"Damn it, Sarah, are you crazy?" Hickrad's voice rang from the other end, "If you continue like this, you will become dementia!"
"I would rather become dementia than death!"
I raised my head and let out a roar. Four sharp stalagmites broke through the soil and pierced deeply into the arm of the forest spirit, lifting up large pieces of wood chips. To it, this is flesh and blood.
"Ah! Damn bug," the Forest Spirit roared angrily. Thankfully, his offensive finally stopped, "You hurt me!"
He raised his arm, and the amber slurry dripped down little by little, hitting heavily on the ground, and soon gathered into a small lake.
"Very good, very good," it straightened its waist, and the trees kept moving, making a squeaking sound, "You are quite capable compared to the previous bugs."
