Chapter 4 Elena and Professor McGonagall
“I mean…”
Elena glanced over Professor McGonagall, paused for a moment on her plaid coat that looked at least six or seven years ago, shrugging, "You're right, we are indeed people from two worlds."
When I was in college in my previous life, Elena took a particularly interesting course called socioeconomics.
In class, a sentence said by the middle-aged Mediterranean teacher who looked a little cynical made Elena feel particularly suitable for the current scene.
"Mysterious and unknown will only create distances without dividing classes."
Elena raised her finger and said seriously word by word, "The only one who can divide human beings into two worlds is ultimately one - poverty!"
There is no doubt that from the first time humans recognize the existence of magic, the group of wizards who control supernatural powers do have advantages that ordinary people are far inferior to that of wealth, power, and fame. After all, before the technological explosion, most of the efforts of ordinary people were not as good as those of wizards who simply waved their wands a few simple waves.
Looking back on history, all of the most famous pure blood families in the magic world have been passed down for at least a hundred years and have a wealthy family with a reputation and wealth that are prominent and wealthy. All of them were gathered in that period with their own magic power.
Therefore, a long time ago, the magic world and the Muggle world were artificially distinguished. If you pursue the reasons, it was nothing more than a barrier to entry that arrogant ancient wizards deliberately raised in order to maintain their own sense of mystery (high quality).
However, as time goes by, the positions of the two worlds have inadvertently exchanged.
You should know that magic is not omnipotent. To be more precise, in Elena's view, the positioning of magic is actually to provide convenience, break through the inherent limitations of natural laws, and add icing on the cake.
Unfortunately, it is obvious that most wizards do not realize this. The backward workshop-based education system has even put generations of wizards in the face of serious tests for making a basic living.
For example, the Gunter family, who was born to Voldemort's mother who did not want to be named, was once a wealthy man of evil. However, by the 1990s, the family's wealth had almost been almost defeated, and no decent industry was left except for a dilapidated old house.
“Times have changed, Professor McGonagall.”
Elena shook her head and said softly, "This world no longer belongs to the wizard stage. I have no interest in the poor and backward magic world you mentioned. I can't teach what I want to know there."
In fact, it is not that there has been a huge decline in the magic world, but because the technology in the Muggle world is too terrible under the stimulation of war, and the time for wizards to accept and digest all this is too short.
Even though there are a few wise adult wizards who can see this, they will be desperately aware when they start trying to integrate into the Muggle world. As a magician who has not received any basic discipline education, they are even particularly difficult to live normally in the Muggle world.
The powerful magical ability has almost no useful place except that they can go smoothly on the road to becoming robbers or terrorists. Compared to hundreds of years ago, a more distant and solid world barrier has been formed again, and Elena has no interest in taking the initiative to go to this big ship that has begun to leak.
"How dare you say this in a poor and backward magic world?! You don't understand what a vast and mysterious world you are facing."
As if he was seriously offended, Professor McGonagall raised his eyebrows and his voice began to become stern, and he quickly retorted without thinking.
"Every adult wizard will learn dozens of courses in Hogwarts including potions, history of magic, astronomy, herbalism, transformation, magical lessons, etc. However, even for a full seven years, they only learned a little of the fur of these courses. No matter any branch of magic, it is enough for a wizard to spend his whole life studying."
"But, what is the value of these courses? If the content of learning cannot even guarantee basic survival, then no matter how profound it is, it is just an unrealistic empty talk." Elena replied casually, twisting her silver hair hanging on her shoulders.
"Every graduate of Hogwarts can find a decent job in the magic world." Professor McGonagall continued to retort, feeling a little angry.
"If everyone can find a decent job, then what is the meaning of hard work? You should know that although the certification model of academic degree in the Muggle world is somewhat imperfect, at least it is an objective basic ability. And to me, it doesn't seem that whether it is working hard in the wizard world or not."
He raised his head, Elena glanced at Professor McGonagall who was unswerving, curled her lips, and continued to ask without hesitation.
Compared to Professor McGonagall, to a certain extent, Elena believes that she knows better the "adult society" in the magic world. After all, even the top scholars such as Hermione Granger, she is just an employee of the Magic Law Enforcement Department in the end. The savior Harry Potter and his friend Ron directly joined the official violent organization in the magic world.
In other words, the certificates and exams they were worried about during their school days had almost no effect on their actual work, which made millions of people who struggled in the abyss of judicial examinations, and finally finally could bear the feelings of the Muggles who were responsible for judicial and social order.
Professor McGonagall's eyebrows were high and a few more wrinkles on her forehead were added. She had never seen such a difficult newborn, and her tone became cold.
“We will issue O.W.Ls certificates and higher-order N.E.W.Ts certificates based on students’ test scores. At the same time, the knowledge students learn in Hogwarts is not independent. They will run through a wizard’s entire life, which is far more important than the Muggle’s course.”
Feeling Professor McGonagall's displeasure, Elena, who had made up her mind to not go to Hogwarts, shrugged indifferently, "But this cannot change the fact that the same person can get a richer reward in the Muggle world under the same cost of time and energy."
The most ridiculous thing is that the generation after generation you still enjoy destroying the infinite possibilities of your students.”
Elena stood up straight, raised her head, looked at Professor McGonagall without any timidity, and said loudly.
"You are just a group of poor and backward terrorists who are immersed in the hypocritical illusion built with magic and dare not look up at the outside world, and misleading their children."
"I, Elena Kaslana, will never step into your inexplicable world."
"you!"
Professor McGonagall stood up suddenly, his chest undulating violently like a bellows, and his eyes angrily stabbed the silver-haired little girl in front of him like a sharp sword. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to refute something, but in the end he did not make any sound.
Looking at the wand tightly clutching the right hand of Professor McGonagall on the verge of furiousness, Elena swallowed quietly without saying anything - did she seem to have said it a little too much?
After looking at Benitez who was pale and thoughtful behind her back, Elena gritted her teeth, opened her hands to block Benitez, and continued to speak hard on her lips.
"Are you finally ready to do something? If you forget it, you will be empty or be heartbroken? Come on, let me see what the pride of the great wizard looks like."
"Hmph. Remember what you said and we will meet again."
After Professor McGonagall made a heavy nasal sound, he took a deep breath and tried to suppress the anger in his chest.
Then she looked at Elena deeply, put away the wand in her hand, grabbed the lady's hat on the table and strode away without saying a word, and didn't even want to ask why Elena knew the spells in the magic world.
——She was afraid that if she continued to talk to this annoying little girl, her emotions would be completely out of control.
"So, are you really a professor, just from the magic world?"
At this time, Benitez, who had been watching from the moment, finally barely clarified his thoughts, looked at Professor McGonagall's back, and subconsciously spoke and kept him.
"Since I've finally come here, why don't you sit down and drink a bowl of hot soup before leaving?"
"**! No wizard will eat owls!"
Professor McGonagall's roar came from outside the door. Ms. McGonagall, who was well-educated, finally couldn't help but swear and slammed the door with a loud bang.
Elena spread her hands innocently and shrugged.
"But that's a Scottish round-faced fat chicken."
