Chapter 1 (Part 1)

Time: 2006 AD, Location: XX Road, Shanghai. The story begins in late June of this year. (Time is recorded in the first year)

In June, Shanghai is still so hot that it is dead. Looking out through the glass door, you can clearly see the steam rising from the road surface. The roads in the old city of Shanghai always give people a feeling of narrowness, and the same is true for XX Road.

There are few pedestrians on the road, and the tree on the side of the road that cannot grow is struggling weakly in the heat wave. Only vehicles can be seen rushing away on the one-way road without looking back.

Road XX is an inconspicuous road, and the equally inconspicuous "Xiao Yazhai" is submerged in signs of all sizes on this road.

Today is the weekend. Chu Ge, who is about to graduate, is studying in the Finance Department of Shanghai XX Business School. The senior student no longer knows what the class is. He has passed the graduation thesis and is waiting to get the graduation certificate and leave.

Chu Ge has never considered where he will go after graduation. While other students were busy preparing their exquisite and thick resumes, Chu Ge dived into this inconspicuous antique shop and became a shop-watcher.

It’s not that Chu Ge doesn’t want to find a job that matches his major. He is also good at studying finance. However, when he sees those classmates who are full of confidence and come back in shame, Chu Ge gives up trying to find a job that matches his major in Shanghai. For Chu Ge, as long as he can stay in Shanghai, he likes Shanghai, a city full of vitality and opportunities.

Although "Xiaoyazhai" is an antique shop, it is impossible to find a decent thing on the shelves. The total value of all the goods placed on the shelves will definitely not exceed 2,000 yuan, which is also one of the main reasons why Chu Ge can work here. What Chu Ge mainly does here is to wait and find a way to sell the bargains inside at a high price.

There are unwritten rules for antiques, only those who buy wrongly, and those who sell wrongly, and there is also the saying that if you don’t open it for three years, you can eat it for three years.

The boss Hu Kan went out early this morning, saying that he was going to purchase goods, and the antique shop called it Taochang. Compared with Xiaoyazhai, Hu Kan was much more famous on this street. This was what Chu Ge only knew after working here. Hu Kan was a famous eye thief on this street, and it is said that he had never missed it.

The sun was a little slanted. After sitting for a day, Chu Ge, who had not waited for a guest, was bored looking through the album left by Hu Kan, which is the so-called product catalog, which was to take some things into photos for customers to read.

Just when Chu Ge was bored, the store door was pushed open and a middle-aged man with glasses came in.

Chu Ge immediately raised a smile and greeted him. The person who came seemed to be in a bad mood. He had a light gray on his white face. He held a box and a bag on his back. He asked Chu Ge angrily: "Where is your boss Hu?"

Chu Ge came up and put his warm face on his cold butt. Although he felt a little unhappy, his face did not show up. Chu Ge, who started living alone at the age of sixteen, was much more mature than his actual age. With a smile, Chu Ge whispered: "Brother Hu has gone out to do business and hasn't come back yet. If you have anything, tell me and I'll tell him back."

The person who came seemed to be well-educated. He also felt his tone in front of Chu Ge's smile, and he eased his expression and said, "Well, let's tell Hu Kan, just say that Lao Wu came to him to see something and ask him to call me when he comes back."

Chu Ge responded with a smile, and Old Wu also began to walk out. He should have driven the santa parked at the door. When Old Wu walked to the door, Chu Ge mustered up the courage to shout: "Please wait a moment."

Old Wu turned around in surprise, and then Chu Ge said shyly: "If you believe it, I can help you take a look first."

I chose to work in this kind of store because Chu Ge has this knowledge. Chu Ge has been working in the store for almost half a year, and it is the first time I face someone alone to see the goods. Thinking of Old Man Liu saying that his vision is already very good, Chu Ge felt an impulse to independently verify his eyesight.

This middle-aged man named Lao Wu also seemed to be in this industry who had been living for a long time. He looked at Chu Ge with some disbelief and said, "Can you see?" Then he laughed at himself: "If you want to see, just look, anyway, it will almost not belong to me."

As he said that, Lao Wu carefully placed the box on the counter from the box, gently opened the lid, and a painted blue and white pot appeared in front of Chu Ge.

Blue and white porcelain! This is the first judgment of Chu Ge. It is still unclear when the blue and white porcelain began, but its production technology matured in the Yuan Dynasty and was popular in the Ming and Qing dynasties. For hundreds of years, blue and white porcelain has been the mainstream of Chinese porcelain production. The main way to identify its age and authenticity is to start with color. At the Caritas Hong Kong Spring Auction in 1993, a lotus flower pattern diamond-mouthed plate from the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty was sold at a high price of 1.55 million Hong Kong dollars, which shows the value of blue and white porcelain.

When I first saw such a treasure, I encountered such a treasure. Chu Ge's inner excitement was imagined. His heartbeat began to accelerate, and his hands trembled slightly. Chu Ge knew very well that if he looked at it with this mentality, it would definitely be difficult for him to perform at his best.

After closing his eyes, taking a deep breath, and adjusting his emotions, Chu Ge then looked at the blue and white plate carefully. When he looked at the porcelain, he saw the color. The painted blue and white plate was painted with the pattern of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea. The exposed body was white in color and did not appear red in kilns. At first glance, it looked very much like it was from the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty.

Regarding the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty's statement about blue and white porcelain, which was considered by Yongzheng. If this piece of porcelain was really a product of the Yongzheng period, then its value would be immeasurable.

Chu Ge's mind was completely attracted by this porcelain. He gently picked up the basin and turned it over. A square chronological pattern suddenly appeared at the bottom of the basin, with the letter "Made in Yongzheng Year".

Old Wu, who had been watching Chu Ge, looked at Chu Ge's eyes from ecstasy to dullness, and finally returned from dullness to regret. After putting the basin back into the box, Chu Ge ended the identification with a sigh.

"Oh! What a pity, although this blue and white pot is finely crafted and made in the year of Yongzheng, it is actually a fake. It is just too real and can be seen by ordinary people. Chu Ge's tone when he said this was very certain, and it must be a bit old-fashioned, just like those veterans who have been immersed in the antique industry for many years.

"Is that so? Let's talk about it, why is it a fake? Is the above chronological formula fake?" Lao Wu found an appraisal when collecting this porcelain. It was considered a rare authentic product at that time, and it was also a collection that Lao Wu was proud of. Now Chu Ge said it was a fake, so Lao Wu naturally disdained it, and even had mocking in his tone. Chu Ge was just a young boy, and what he said was always unconvincing in this industry.

Chu Ge did not mind Lao Wu's tone and disdainful expression, but looked at Lao Wu and said affirmatively: "Comparing the glazed color of the annual model and the glazed color on the basin, it is difficult to see any difference. The reason why I think it is a fake is mainly to identify it from the handwriting." As he said that, Chu Ge pointed to the four words "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" on the basin and said: "Look at these four words, and the four words at the bottom of the basin are completely written by two people. Looking at the glaze color, although the whole basin looks integrated, as long as you observe carefully, you will find that there is a subtle difference between the glaze color on the annual model and the glaze color on the basin. I judged that this porcelain was a dug-up copy in the early years of the Republic of China."

Although Chu Ge's statement was reasonable and well-founded, Old Wu still looked suspicious. Finally, Chu Ge smiled helplessly: "If you really don't believe it, you can use a high-power magnifying glass to observe, and you can find the difference in the color of the year and the basin."

The reason why Chu Ge said this was because he had a pair of special eyes. Only Old Man Liu, who taught him to identify antiques, knew about this secret. Old Man Liu once sighed: "Your boy's eyes are born to identify things." The difference that ordinary people can only discover with a magnifying glass. Chu Ge doesn't use it, so Chu Ge suggested that Old Wu use a magnifying glass to observe.

After listening to Chu Ge's words, Old Wu's originally gray face turned dead blue, and he sat on the chair behind him, and kept muttering in his mouth, "It's over, it's all over now." After saying that, he closed his eyes and fainted at that time.

Chu Ge didn't expect that Old Wu would have such a big reaction, so he hurriedly went up to pinch his people. After a while, Old Wu recovered and sighed, "I'm dead!"

Chu Ge knew that this matter must be related to this basin, so he quickly comforted him: "Brother Wu, don't worry. Although this basin is a fake, it still has high craftsmanship value and great collection value. Judging from the age, it has been almost a hundred years, and it is not difficult to sell 30,000 to 50,000 yuan."

Old Wu showed a sad look on his face and shook his head and said, "Thirty or fifty thousand, can 30,000 be saved by 30,000? It's all my fault, I'm losing my ambition,

The company I founded went bankrupt and I didn’t have any money for my daughter to see a doctor.”

Chu Ge is not easy to deal with other people's family affairs, but Old Wu must have been forced to do this by money, otherwise he would not have sold his treasures. Unfortunately, it was a fake. Chu Ge felt that he was a bit cruel, and in just a few words, he broke other people's hopes.

Fortunately, Lao Wu is a strong-willed person. After a while, he returned to normal and said to Chu Ge sincerely: "I think my little brother has a good vision. No wonder Hu Kan feels relieved to watch you alone. I have another painting, which is said to be a work imitating Shi Tao. It is also a bit old. Please help me see how much money it can be sold."

As he said that, Old Wu pulled out a long box from his bag, and after opening it, there was a scroll inside. It seemed that Chu Ge's performance just now had conquered him.

Chu Ge unfolded the scroll, and a landscape painting appeared in front of Chu Ge. The color of the seal at the signed scroll of this landscape painting was significantly different from the whole painting. It was obviously printed by later generations. Others would think it was a copy when they saw it, but Chu Ge's eyes lit up.

"I have never heard of the fact that later generations have made the real ones, but I didn't expect that today I have seen the real ones, the fake ones have made the fake ones." After carefully looking at the seal signed, Chu Ge said to Lao Wu with a little excitement.

Lao Wu was completely confused now, and he was right and wrong, where did he start with this?

Seeing Old Wu’s face full of confusion, Chu Ge smiled slightly, pointed to the seal on the signature and said, “It seems that he is a fake, here is the most powerful evidence, but look at this again.”

As he said that, Chu Ge carefully turned over the vertical scroll, then breathed a sigh of relief at the position of the seal, and a blurred seal trace appeared on the back, which was completely different from the seal on the front. Old Wu was confused by everything in front of him. Looking at Chu Ge, his eyes were full of question marks.

"Maybe in a war-torn era, the owner of the painting made a move to ensure the safety of the painting, or was afraid that others would covet the painting, so he used a fake seal to cover up the real seal. It can be seen that this person has good intentions. Although it is fake and it is the same as the real, it is a pity that it is real. Look at the structure of the painting and the fine brushwork of the painting are so strong that it can be copied by ordinary people. Looking at the color of the paper, I am sure that this is Shi Tao's work after he was fifty, and it should be worth less than 500,000."

"Papapapapapapa!" A burst of applause came. Chu Ge, who was focusing on reading paintings, looked up and saw that the person applauding was his boss Hu Kan. Chu Ge couldn't help but blushed. He looked at things privately, which was not allowed by the store rules. Now he was caught by the boss. He probably had a job in his life. He probably had no guarantee of his job. Chu Ge began to wonder in his heart.

During the winter vacation half a year ago, Chu Ge saw Xiaoyazhai post a notice of hiring someone, so he came to try it out with a courage. At that time, he said he was a temporary part-time job and stopped working at the start of school. Unexpectedly, Hu Kan didn't find anyone to replace him. The store was not busy, and Chu Ge was honest, so Hu Kan continued to use Chu Ge. When he had something to go out, he called Chu Ge to watch. His senior year was not busy, so Chu Ge worked until now. Although the money was better and better in Chu Ge, Chu Ge really liked this industry, so although his salary was not much, Chu Ge didn't care and worked until now.

"Old Hu, I'm convinced you. My disciple's eyes are so poisonous, hahaha!" Old Wu, who was in a sudden dark situation, also swept his depressed look and patted Hu Kan's shoulder and praised him.

"You have won the award in Angkor. You have taken good care of my small shop before. I am very happy to be able to help you now. Don't praise the young people." Hu Kan looked proud, but his tone was still very modest.

Lao Wu was in a good mood and said, "Old Hu, please find a buyer for this painting. Go back and contact me for a master of framed work. I want to remove the fake on it to make this painting look good again. You know my situation. Money is waiting for urgently. Please hurry up, I will be inseparable from yours."

After packing up his things and complimenting Chu Ge, Lao Wu left with satisfaction.

Old Wu left, and only Chu Ge and Hu Kan were left in the store. Hu Kan sent Lao Wu to the door and looked at Chu Ge with a strange look, as if Chu Ge was a life form from Mars.
