Chapter 108
Work hard always has the meaning of hard work.
As for whether the effort is worth it, it depends on where everyone is concerned about.
Recently, I read an article about "Poisonous Chicken Soup".
One point mentioned in that article is Edison’s proposal, “Genius is 1% inspiration plus 99% sweat.”
Well, that article said that this sentence is poisonous chicken soup, which poisoned many people's spiritual world. The reason is that there is also the second half of the sentence, "But 1% of inspiration is more important than 99% of sweat."
The implication is that the article feels that the first half of Edison's sentence misled many people to work hard, and it is obviously "toxic chicken soup".
Well, I have a different view on this.
First of all, "Genius is 1% inspiration plus 99% sweat." Well, this sentence is nothing wrong. Even a genius has to pay 99% sweat.
Then, "But that 1% inspiration is more important than 99% sweat." Well, this sentence is fine. If there is no inspiration, what kind of sweat will you give? At least you have to have a goal.
Of course, the reason why geniuses are geniuses is that in addition to 99% of sweat, the 1% inspiration is the difference. After all, some inspiration cannot be imagined by ordinary people.
However, some geniuses are born, and some geniuses are acquired. There is no standard for the definition of genius.
However, the point I want to say is "genius is 1% inspiration plus 99% sweat". This sentence is nothing more than the meaning of advocating hard work.
Even a genius has to pay 99% of his sweat, let alone an ordinary person who is not a genius. Although a genius has the 1% inspiration to support him, if there is no 99% of his sweat, a genius will only end up "injuring Zhongyong".
Therefore, "Genius is 1% inspiration plus 99% sweat." In my opinion, this sentence is not poisonous chicken soup, it is simply to tell everyone the importance of hard work.
Those who regard it as poisonous chicken soup feel delusional, and seem to be able to become geniuses with just 99% of their sweat.
But even if they think so, that's fine.
OK, then let's assume that as long as they put in 99% of their sweat, they can become geniuses.
But how many people can truly give 99% of their sweat?
Is it true that they feel that they have worked hard and have put in a lot of sweat? They will be rewarded immediately? If they don’t see the reward, is it poisonous chicken soup?
Compare it with a different mindset. How many people can bear the process of Edison inventing electric lights? After trying more than 1,600 materials, they invented the electric lights. Well, if they fail more than 1,600 times, the psychological endurance, ability to resist strikes and resilience to not give up are the key points in 99% sweat, rather than the so-called tiredness and feeling very hard.
Therefore, the sentence "Genius is 1% inspiration plus 99% sweat." In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with it, and it is very normal. Even if you follow the second half of the sentence, it is still normal.
Working hard is very important.
However, work hard must have an accurate direction, otherwise it will be a blind effort.
Well, during the period when I was conditioning my body in my hometown, I practiced my abdominal muscles myself, sang occasionally, danced occasionally, and often played table tennis alone against the wall.
I have put in hard work in these aspects, but it is only a small matter.
However, even with a small effort, I felt my own changes.
The abdominal muscles feel more and more sensational to the touch;
In the national karaoke singing, some songs were not sung before, but now I can actually sing them, and the rating is higher than before;
In the past, when I was dancing, I always chose some street dance music. I felt that only by the music could I dance that I was satisfied with. However, now even if it is very ordinary music, I can dance according to my feelings, which is a breakthrough;
When I just returned home to take care of my body, I was very unnatural when playing table tennis against the wall. I couldn't get it after a few hits. I didn't know how to control the strength. Now, the feeling of playing table tennis against the wall is as common as it is, whether it is forehand or backhand.
If I put in more effort, maybe the changes would surprise me even more.
