Chapter 4 Strange Harry(1/2)

In Nodia, not many people know Harry, but as long as they know him, they will think that he is a weirdo.

He lives alone on the edge of a remote mountain forest far away from the town, making a living by feeding some chickens and ducks and hunting in the mountains. He hardly communicates with outsiders, and even if he has to exchange goods with others, he will not say a word.

Some people who have dealt with him will occasionally comment on him as a weird old man with a bad temper when talking about this person. Therefore, people in Nodia are trying to avoid him as much as possible. No one wants to approach him, let alone him.

People will pay attention to him.

Kevin had heard Herak mention this man a long time ago, and also heard some stories about him.

Herak said that when Harry was young, he was a high-spirited and brave warrior. At that time, he was a fierce general in the Knights and participated in many major battles. On the battlefield, he not only killed countless enemies.

, and risked his life to rescue dozens of comrades, becoming a respected and trusted warrior in the Knights.

That year, Harry was ordered to lead a team to station in Nodia to assist the security group in exterminating the bandits wandering in the mountains and forests. During those days, Harry met a beautiful Nodia girl and got his wish to marry him.

She is a wife.

Harry's wife is gentle, virtuous and considerate, but Harry's identity has always been a worry in her heart. She is worried that Harry will be injured on the battlefield, and she is even more worried that Harry will encounter misfortune when he goes into battle to kill the enemy, so she always advises Harry to disband and return home.

Harry felt sorry for his wife and understood why his wife often woke up from her sleep, so he submitted his resignation to the Knights and came to Nodia to live a comfortable and simple life with his wife.

A year later, Harry's wife gave birth to a lovely daughter for him. Harry happily carried her daughter from house to house all day long, and the family's life became even happier.

On his daughter's third birthday, Harry decided to take his wife and daughter out for an outing. However, during the outing, they were attacked by a pack of wolves. Although Harry risked his life to protect his wife and daughter, there were too many wolves and he was alone.

After all, man is no match for the ferocious attacks of wolves. His wife and daughter died tragically from the wolves' mouths, and he was also seriously injured.

This incident dealt a fatal blow to Harry. After he recovered from his injury, he became taciturn and no longer took the initiative to communicate with anyone. He stayed alone in the room all day and cried.

Later, he simply moved to the mountains and forests alone and wandered around the mountains and forests all day long, specifically hunting the evil wolves that killed his wife and daughter.

When Harry first moved, some friends often went to visit him, but he always coaxed everyone away. As the number of visits increased, his friends no longer wanted to visit him. After a few years, everyone gradually stopped visiting him.

He forgot.

Harry was not originally a native of Nodia, and he did not have many friends here. When these friends no longer mentioned him, no one in Nodia would care about him.

But Kevin remembered him.

Kevin expected that Custer would do everything possible to stop him, and he also knew that Custer's methods were powerful. As long as Kevin consulted any well-known hunter in Nodia, Custer could find him.

Kevin didn't want Custer to ruin his plan. He stubbornly believed that only by completing the task of killing the wolf could he regain his confidence and self-esteem, so he thought of Harry. He felt that even if Custer turned Nodia upside down

, nor would he have thought that he would turn to Harry for help.

Kevin didn't dare to ask anyone about Harry's residence, so he could only rely on the rough description in the story. After spending a whole day, he finally found a wooden house at the foot of a secluded mountain.

This place is just like what he imagined, a dilapidated wooden house, two pens of chickens and ducks, and three or four vegetable fields, existing alone beside the stream, surrounded by dense woods, if it weren't for the occasional cockcrow

The ducks are croaking, and the place is so quiet that one wonders if anyone lives there.

Kevin came to the house, cleared his throat, and shouted: "Is there anyone in the house? Mr. Harry, are you there?"

Kevin shouted several times before he heard the wooden door creak open, and a tall and thin man appeared behind the door.

I saw this man with a head of gray hair, as disheveled as a bird's nest, a curly beard that almost covered his mouth, and a pair of eyes that lacked brilliance on his dark, wrinkled face.

Although he was tall, his empty clothes could not hide his thinness. In addition, Kevin felt sorry for his life experience, so at first sight, he always felt that this man exuded a desolate atmosphere from head to toe.

If this person didn't have a house and land, he would be no different from a beggar.

"Excuse me, are you Mr. Harry?" Kevin asked politely.

"No, you've got the wrong person." When the man spoke, Kevin immediately felt horrified. The voice seemed to come from deep within the earth, deep, hoarse, and carrying a strong chill.

"Then..." Kevin was about to continue asking questions, but the man closed the door. Kevin was stunned, thinking that this person was so weird, he was probably Harry. So he took courage, stepped to the door of the wooden house, and lightly

Knocked a few times: "Mr. Harry, Mr. Harry."

"Get out!" A dull shout came from inside the house.

Kevin hesitated, but he still mustered up the courage to continue knocking on the door: "Mr. Harry, I'm here to ask for your help."

"Get out!" The person in the room seemed unwilling to say anything more, only such a dry word.

"Mr. Harry, I really need your help, please open the door."

"Get out!" The man's tone became more and more serious, but this time, he said a few more words, "Don't you understand?"

Kevin froze. He didn't know whether he should continue to knock on the door or turn around and leave. The man's indifference made Kevin very uncomfortable. Although he had made enough psychological preparations before coming, when the man showed no signs of

While politely expelling the guest, he still didn't know what to do.

Kevin looked up at the sky and found that the sky had begun to darken. He silently calculated the distance to return, thinking that if he went back now, he would probably have to walk through a section of woods in the dark.

To be honest, he really didn't dare to go into the woods alone at night, and he didn't want to go back. After all, he spent a lot of effort to escape from his home over the wall. If he returned to town now, if he was discovered by his family,

I'm afraid I'll never have the chance to come out again.

Kevin made up his mind, took out a piece of bread from the bag, ate it in several mouthfuls, then went to the stream to drink a few sips of water, then got dressed and lay down in the haystack next to the wooden house.

Kevin has consumed a lot of energy during this period, especially since he hasn't slept since last night, and he walked for a whole day today. As soon as he lay down, sleepiness swept over him, and within a few minutes, he fell asleep.

In the early morning in the forest, the gurgling stream lapped against the rocks crisply, the chirping of the birds penetrated the mist lingering in the forest, and the cool mountain wind carried the fragrance of the trees, invading every inch of Kevin's skin.

He shuddered and woke up from his sleep. He found that he was covered with a fur blanket.

"Mr. Harry?" Kevin never imagined that Harry, who seemed so distant from others, would put a blanket on him late at night.

Kevin felt an indescribable gratitude in his heart. He got up, shook off the dust on the blanket, and then walked gently to Harry's door. Harry's even snoring came from the room, and Kevin couldn't bear to wake him up.

He wrapped himself in a blanket and sat under the eaves, leaning against the wooden wall and fell asleep again.

When Kevin woke up again, it was already three o'clock in the morning. He saw Harry watering and weeding the vegetable garden. He quickly folded the blanket and held it in his hands. He walked up to Harry and handed it over: "Mr. Harry, thank you."

Harry was only busy with the farm work in his hands and said without raising his head: "It's dawn, you can go."

"Mr. Harry, please help me."

"How do you know I am Harry?" Harry raised his head and glanced at Kevin before continuing with the matter at hand, "I told you yesterday that you recognized the wrong person."

"No, based on what I know about you, you must be Mr. Harry."

"Understand?" What Kevin said seemed to arouse some interest in Harry, "You understand me? How is that possible? What a joke!"

"Mr. Harry, I really know a lot about you." Seeing that things seemed to be turning around, Kevin naturally didn't want to miss this opportunity and said quickly, "I know that you were once a famous warrior, and I also know that your wife and daughter

misfortune, but also know..."

"Shut up!" Harry suddenly yelled, scaring Kevin so much that he didn't dare to say anything.

Harry was shaking all over, and the pain of the past filled his mind again. Kevin realized that he had said the wrong thing, which opened the scars in Harry's heart. He wanted to apologize, but he didn't know how to say it, so he had to say it silently.

He stood there and waited until Harry's mood calmed down.

"That was a long time ago..." Harry sniffed a few times and sighed, "Young man, I really am not Harry. He is already dead. You can leave."

"No, Mr. Harry, I'm not leaving. If you don't teach me how to kill wolves, I won't leave here."

"Kill the wolf?" Harry's eyes flashed a little. He straightened his back and turned to face Kevin, "Young man, what did you just say? Kill the wolf?"

"Yeah, kill the wolf."

Harry looked at Kevin carefully from head to toe, and shook his head as he looked: "You, a rich man, want to kill wolves? You'd better go back early, this is not the place you should be."

"I won't leave. Mr. Harry, if you don't teach me for a day, I won't leave for a day. At worst, I will stay with you."

Harry suddenly laughed. Although the laughter sounded a bit abrupt and weird, Kevin still felt hope from it.

For Harry, it had been a long time since anyone had said so much to him.

Since the misfortune of his wife and daughter, Harry has been suffering from pain and self-blame. He doesn't want others to mention those sad past events, because whenever he thinks of his wife and daughter's death, his heart will hurt like a knife.

Many times, he wanted to end his life in order to be freed from the pain, but he survived time and time again. He supported himself with a belief that even if the pain exhausted everything, he would still live.

Because as long as he is alive, his wife and daughter will still be alive, at least, they will live in his heart.

In this kind of contradiction and pain, he gradually became withdrawn. He knew very well the reasons why his friends ignored him, but he did not have the extra energy to deal with it. The only thing he could do was to live in his own world.

Waging an arduous struggle with myself.

Later, he gradually came out of the shadow of pain, but his friends had already left him. His low self-esteem and pride made it difficult for him to take the initiative to seek reconciliation with his friends, so he simply chose to continue living alone.

Later, as he grew older, he found that he wanted to tell people more and more about the pain in his heart, but people already regarded him as a weirdo and avoided him at a distance. Who would be patient and willing?

To listen to the crazy words of a madman.

Harry thought that he would die alone in his life, but he didn't expect that someone would come to ask for help today, and he was such a stubborn young man. Harry seemed to see his younger self in him, and it was inevitable that he would have a feeling in his heart.

A feeling of closeness.

It is precisely because of this that Harry would cover Kevin with a blanket late at night and drive Kevin away again and again. It is also because of this that when Kevin said the words "In the worst case, I will stay with you",

Harry smiled.

Kevin giggled twice along with Harry and asked timidly: "Mr. Harry, what do you mean..."

Harry did not answer Kevin's question, but walked straight towards the backyard of the wooden house. When he passed by Kevin, he said: "Follow me."

There were a lot of dry firewood stacked in the backyard, but it was still relatively spacious. Harry took a bow from the back wall of the wooden house and stuffed it into Kevin's hand, pointed to a big tree about ten meters away and said: "See

Is there a straw target on that tree? Shoot an arrow and see."

Kevin nodded, understanding that Harry intended to test his strength, so he calmly positioned himself, attached a long arrow, and used all his strength to slowly draw the bow string.
