Chapter 3 Crisis breaks out

The storm is coming, and there are not many people walking in the town. Most of the people still on the street, like Gu Hao, are out shopping.

Pedestrians are in a hurry, racing against time, and no one knows whether the rainstorm will come in a second.

No one wants to become a drowned rat, including Gu Hao.

According to Kyle's memory, Gu Hao seemed to have good luck when he returned home, and the heavy rain had not yet destroyed the house.

The dark clouds were overwhelming, as if a violent storm had blown up debris in the small town late at night.

Gu Hao held the brown paper bag with one hand, opened the door with the other hand, and subconsciously said: "Kelly, dad is back."

Gu Hao didn't care that there was no response from De Dao. His memory told him that his daughter was still angry.

All the lights in the room were on. He turned them on when he left. Standing in the hallway, you could hear the sound of the TV coming from the living room.

When I walked into the living room, I saw a little blond girl sitting on the sofa watching cartoons. The girl didn't seem to care about Kyle's return at all.

It was just the girl's eyes that betrayed her. From the moment Gu Hao walked into the living room, Kelly's eyes squinted over her.

You obviously care, but you pretend not to care.

Kelly's little moves were naturally too busy for the old detective, so Gu Hao didn't point it out, sitting next to the girl and watching cartoons with her.

"Why, are you still angry with dad?"

A few days after returning to the country, Kelly had just become familiar with the neighbor's children.

As a result, it was stormy for the next few days, and I couldn't go out to play at all. A good vacation was all in vain. Even when he was a child, he would be angry.

"Kelly is not a child anymore, so she won't get angry casually." The girl's cheeks were swollen and she was not convincing at all.

Outside, the dark sky was pierced by a bolt of lightning, the storm came as expected, and raindrops like soybeans pounded hard on the glass windows.

"Boom——!"

The lightning was accompanied by a loud noise.

"Ah..." Kelly was startled and subconsciously crawled into her father's arms.

"Don't be afraid, it's just lightning."

Gu Hao patted his daughter's back gently, and took out a box from the brown paper bag with his other hand.

"Look, what dad bought you."

Under Kelly's curious gaze, Gu Hao opened the box and found a red ribbon inside.

"Here, daddy will tie it up for you."

Kelly's eyes were full of doubt: "Can you?"

She still remembered that her father had tied her hair into a tight knot, and it took a long time to untie it. It was so painful.

"Don't worry, there will definitely be no problem this time." Gu Hao vowed, of course he knew what happened in the past.

But then Kyle practiced hard late at night, planning to use it as a surprise for his daughter's next birthday. Now he will use it first to make Kelly happy.

Kelly has long, smooth golden hair, much like her mother. Previously, because Kyle couldn't tie her hair and was reluctant to let her daughter cut it off, she simply tied it up with a rubber ring.

Gu Hao's hands are not fast, but very steady. This is the result of Kyle's countless practices.

"Okay."

A golden braid, with a red ribbon turned into a bow and tied on top.

Kelly jumped off the sofa and ran back to the room to look in the mirror.

After a while, he ran back excitedly, circled in front of Gu Hao, and said happily: "Does it look good?"

"It's beautiful, Kelly is the most beautiful." Gu Hao said sincerely.

After the death of his wife, Kyle has always wanted to have a good relationship with his daughter.

In fact, Kelly does not resist Kyle, but because of Kyle's work, he often cannot help himself and does not have much time to spend with his daughter.

Missing appointments for parent-teacher meetings and parent-child activity days scheduled with my daughter are commonplace.

Over time, in Kelly's eyes, her father was a big liar.

"Aren't you angry?"

"Kelly is not angry." The girl pouted.

"Don't be angry. Dad can't do anything about the weather. Let's go to the beach to play during Kelly's next summer vacation."

"Really?"

"Really!"

Kelly raised her right hand and extended a little finger.

Gu Hao smiled and also extended his little finger.

The father and daughter shouted together: "Hang yourself on a hook and you won't be allowed to change for a hundred years. It's the puppy that's lying to you!"

After finally coaxing his daughter, Gu Hao began to prepare dinner.

He found that he had begun to integrate into the role, and this father was becoming more and more competent.

After dinner, father and daughter watched TV together in the living room.

Outside, the storm has not weakened at all, and there are even signs of getting stronger.

On the TV screen, a trace of snowflakes appeared from time to time, and the arrival of a strong storm affected the signal transmission.

"Bump bump bump..."

Suddenly, the sound of heavy rain was mixed with several gunshots.

Ordinary people may not be able to hear it, but Gu Hao is sure that his many years of work experience allowed him to make an instant judgment.

Gu Hao suppressed his professional impulse and told himself that he was on vacation now. Even if a shooting occurred, it would have nothing to do with him and colleagues would handle it.

Just...

"Bump..."

"Bump bump bump..."

"Touch..."

Since the first gunshot, more gunshots have appeared one after another, becoming more and more obvious, and even Kelly heard it.

"Dad?"

"Don't be afraid, dad is here." Gu Hao comforted.

There was something wrong with the continuous gunshots. After thinking about it, he still felt that he should go out and check the situation, otherwise he would feel even more uneasy.

Gu Hao put on his raincoat, stood at the entrance and said, "Dad will be back soon. Don't open the door to anyone except Dad. Do you understand?"

Kelly nodded. Although she was also scared, her mother said that her father was a policeman and a hero who protected everyone. She could not and should not stop her father from saving people.

The violent storm hit Gu Hao's face, seriously affecting his visible field of vision.

When we came outside the house, the sound of gunshots became more obvious, accompanied by countless yells, screams, and cries for help.

The ominous premonition in Gu Hao's heart completely erupted, and a faint sound of chewing came from his ears.

He turned around and under the flashlight, he saw a figure squatting and trembling in the yard of the neighbor's house next door.

"Is it Mr. George?" Gu Hao asked uncertainly. The rain was too heavy and many things could not be seen clearly. He vaguely remembered that his neighbor George also had the same set of clothes.

George seemed to have heard Gu Hao's call and slowly turned his head.

The moment he turned around, Gu Hao was so frightened that he dropped the flashlight to the ground.

"Fuck!" Gu Hao cursed fiercely. He was really frightened.

George turned his head, turning his head 180 degrees without any regard for whether the human body structure was reasonable or not. There was blood on his face, and he was still chewing minced meat in his mouth.

There was a dog corpse lying on the ground. It was George's family's hound. It was not difficult to guess what George was squatting on the ground for.

Damn it!

That bastard simulator actually sent him to a world where zombies broke out.

George's movements were still a little stiff, which gave Gu Hao a chance to escape.

Gu Hao rushed home frantically, locked the door fiercely, leaned against the iron door, and gasped for air.

"Dad?" Kelly heard the sound of the door opening and ran out.

"Baby, we have to leave now!"
