28, Chapter 28(1/2)

“Don’t go gentle into that good night—”

Anzhe and Ke Lin were walking in a long and narrow white corridor, and the sound of reading in unison came from the side. The very childish voices gathered together, creating faint echoes around them.

This is the sixth floor of the Garden of Eden. The person who led them inside was a man in his thirties named Lin Zuo. He wore a white shirt and a pair of thin gold-rimmed glasses. He looked gentle and elegant.

The two of them were taken to the office, and Lin Zuo said: "Is everything okay here?"

Colin said: "Very good."

Lin Zuo said: "The conditions in the main city are better than those in the outer city."

An Zhe realized it. At least when he was in the outer city, he never thought that there was such a huge building as the Garden of Eden in the world.

In this corridor, excluding the office, there are a total of ten rooms, five of which are classrooms, and the other five are children's dormitories. The dormitories are full of small low beds, and each room can accommodate a hundred people. According to Lin Zuo

, this level of the Garden of Eden consists of a total of ten such corridors, and the children on each level are of the same age. In other words, there are four thousand human cubs who are close to six years old.

"After the children turn six years old, most of them would originally be sent to the outer city to wait for adoption. But now that the outer city has fallen, the main city has to take on the education work after they turn six years old. There is a shortage of manpower. Fortunately, you are here." Lin Zuo said.

: "Babies under six years old are afraid to be handed over to new people, so this batch of children will be assigned to you after they turn six years old."

An Zhe said: "Okay."

"Currently, further education arrangements have not been released. You two will follow me to familiarize yourself with the process, okay?"

Colin replied: "Yeah."

Lin Zuo smiled slightly and took down a few manuals from the bookshelf: "Here are the textbooks and rotation arrangements. Take a look at them first and ask me if you have any questions."

Anzhe took his share.

There are two education courses here, one is language and literature, and the other is mathematics and logic. He got a language and literature textbook. The six-year-old child has mastered basic pinyin and grammar, and the textbook contains some short

Fables or short poems. Anze learned these things very well, so there was no syllable or word that Anze didn't recognize.

After flipping through the textbook, it was time for class. Anzhe moved a set of tables and chairs and sat in the back corner of the classroom. He held a seating chart for the children. In addition to listening to the class, Lin Zuo also gave him tasks.

Record the children's listening performance. If a child takes the initiative to answer questions or ask questions, points will be added. Points will be deducted if they whisper to each other or do some irrelevant actions.

When he sat in, the cubs all turned their heads to look at him. The cubs' skin was very soft, and their eyes were pure and clean. They were wearing uniform white clothes, black shorts, and similar short hair styles. It was impossible to tell them apart for a moment.

A man and a woman came out. They whispered for a few times and continued to look at An Zhe, who smiled at them.

——So some of the cubs also smiled at him, and one of them blinked, fluttering his eyelashes a few times, and asked: "Are you the new teacher?"

An Zhe said: "Yes."

"Wow." Another cub whispered: "You are so beautiful."

An Zhe said: "Thank you."

The cub said: "You're welcome."

Another cub asked: "What is your name?"

Anzhe said his name.

The cubs chirped: "My name is Bai Nan."

"My name is Ji Sha."

"My name is Du Cheng."

Of course, there were also some indifferent cubs, such as the one in the corner, who took one look at him and turned back.

But the excitement around An Zhe didn't last long, because Lin Zuo came in.

The cubs instantly dispersed from An Zhe and returned to their seats. Lin Zuo looked around and made sure no one was absent before starting the lecture.

What he was talking about was the poem that An Zhe heard in the corridor before, and it was also the last one in the textbook - it was more complicated than the other contents. It was the poem that An Zhe heard in a certain classroom while walking in the corridor.

The children inside are reciting.

The cubs first read the poem from beginning to end.

"Don't go gentle into that good night.

We should burn in the sunset.

Rage, rage against the passage of time."

"Though the wise know that darkness will eventually come.

Although their words can no longer spark lightning.

Don’t go gentle into that good night.”

After reading it once, Lin Zuo stood in front of the podium and asked: "Is there anything you don't understand?"

A cub raised his hand and An Zhe compared the seating chart. This was the cub named Bai Nan.

Bai Nan's cub said: "I don't understand anything."

The other cubs all laughed.

Lin Zuo: "Narrow the scope of the question."

"Then..." Bai Nan scratched the back of his head and said hesitantly, "Why can't you go into the night gently?"

An Zhe added one point for Bai Nan on the form, then looked at Lin Zuo, waiting for his answer.

He didn't know the answer to the question Bai Nan asked. In the abyss and in the human base, he had seen twilight gradually replace the day too many times, and every night it landed so gently on the ground that he couldn't resist.

Lin Zuo's eyes swept across them, and his lips tightened slightly, a slightly serious arc.

"This is the last text in your course this year," he said. "It has a different meaning from all the previous texts, although it may be a little difficult for you."

He turned around, wrote "Don't go gentle into that good night" on the whiteboard, and turned back to the cubs in the audience.

"This is a poem composed of metaphors and symbols," said Lin Zuo: "Don't go gentle into that good night, its meaning is: Don't meekly accept death."

Anzhe's eyes widened slightly, and he wrote down this sentence in his notebook.

Afterwards, Lin Zuo started to talk from the first sentence, and An Zhe took notes carefully.

After finishing speaking, the cubs read the poem from beginning to end again.

"On the top of this sad mountain.

Please curse me and bless me with your tears.

Don’t go gentle into that good night.”

An Zhe's note-taking pen paused. He looked up and looked out the bright window. Not far away, the Twin Towers shone in the sunlight. The city slowly unfolded and its edges disappeared into the blue sky. He knew that the city had not left yet.

Going into a good night, and trying not to go into that good night.

After the day's classes, Lin Zuo got off work and handed the children over to him and Colin. They would take the cubs to eat with the life teacher, and then gather in the dormitory to watch today's news. In order to enhance the relationship with the cubs

An Zhe has to answer their questions about the news at any time, and can only get off work after the news is over.

The cubs who had eaten well were in a very active state of mind. They were playing and talking in the corridor. Anzhe felt like ten thousand mosquitoes were screaming in his ears, but he tolerated these human cubs, even in the abyss.

Monsters are also gentle with their own young - but only their own.

Until the news time came, the life teacher took out the score sheet. The cubs suddenly became quiet after seeing the score sheet. They spontaneously gathered in a circle next to the large projection screen and sat comfortably in the middle.

He looked at the screen and suddenly felt something touching his finger. When he lowered his head, he saw that the cub named Bai Nan was sitting next to him and hooked his finger with his finger.

An Zhe didn't have much physical contact with humans. The one time he remembered deeply was that he bumped into Lu Feng, and his head hurt from the badge on Lu Feng's chest - but the cub's body was different from Lu Feng's.

Soft.

——Like spores, the human cub stayed quietly by his side, just like the spores stayed quietly in his body. An Zhe gained a false peace through this fantasy, and touched Bai Nan's head again.

So Bai Nan moved closer here, leaning against him closely, and hugged his arm. At the same time, another cub named Ji Sha also came close to him. This cub looked vaguely like

Girl. Immediately afterwards, a group of cubs squirmed towards him. Colin on the side also gained the love of several cubs. It seems to be the nature of all biological cubs to be close to adults.

But there was another lonely cub who was still sitting cross-legged in his seat, unmoved. Anzhe remembered his name, which was Si Nan. Sinan never asked questions in class. He and Si Nan looked at each other and said to him

Smiling, Si Nan averted his eyes and returned his gaze to the big screen.

The news begins.

"After the bombing of Area 6, the number of monsters in the outer city has been significantly reduced. The military's second air formation took off at six o'clock this morning and landed in Area 1 to support the outer city. Colonel Lu Feng of the Tribunal will command the existing teams to recover the dispersal center...

"

An Zhe suddenly heard a familiar name. He had not seen Lu Feng since arriving in the main city. It turned out that this person had already gone to the outer city again.

Bai Nan suddenly whispered: "It's the judge."

Ji Sha said: "I'm so scared."

Anzhe asked them: "What's wrong?"

Bai Nan said: "The news often talks about how many people the judges have executed."

Ji Sha: "He often goes to the abyss. The abyss is so scary."

An Zhe touched her head: "Don't be afraid."
