Chapter 11 Envoys

The flags and ceremonies were personally granted by the Emperor of Han, representing the dignity of the country and carrying a heavy mission. As an envoy, even if he sacrificed his life, he must protect the Han Dynasty's comprehensiveness!

Ren Hong was in the Xuanquan, and he had heard many such stories from officials and merchants who came from east to west.

The famous Bowang Marquis Zhang Qian, when he first went on a mission to the Western Regions, Hexi was still the territory of the Huns. Zhang Qian was unfortunately captured by the Huns, and all his followers were killed and he was detained in the Shanyu Court.

This stay lasted for 13 years. The Huns gave him his Hu wife and had a son. Zhang Qian seemed to have obedience, but secretly he hid the Han Dynasty and never made any mistakes.

After going through all the difficulties, his heart was as hard as iron and stone. When he was in the Hu area at night, he heard the sound of the sluts, and felt sad. Zhang Qian finally found an opportunity and fled from the Huns with his servant Tang Yifu, and finally arrived in the Western Regions and found the Great Yuezhi!

A few years later, when he returned to Chang'an after going through obstacles, the tall Zhang Qian actually knelt on the ground, bowed his head to the towering Hanque again and again, crying bitterly, and the whole country was shocked!

Four years ago, in the spring of the sixth year of Shiyuan (81 BC), in addition to convening a salt and iron conference in Chang'an City, there was also a big news: Su Wu, who was on a mission to the Huns during the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, was detained by the Hu people for many years, finally returned to the Han court!

Ren Hong heard from the visitor from Guanzhong that when Su Wu returned to the North Quebec of Chang'an, even the familiar old friend could not recognize his appearance:

When I left, the young envoy with black hair was already a white-haired old man. In the rarely visited Beihai, he thirsty and drank snow and hungry felt, which made me feel so hard that I could not help but whiten my youth, but I couldn't help my loyal ministers.

Just like when he left, Su Wu still held the Han Festival given by Emperor Xiaowu tightly in his withered hands. Whether it was lying down or shepherding, even if the festival was gone, there was no loss...

Looking at the bare scepter, from General Huo Guang to the ordinary people in Chang'an, everyone was moved by it.

I have heard too many deeds of this kind. Even if I am a vain person, I don’t know the big words and do not understand etiquette, I will stand up straight and dare not neglect at all when I see the Han Dynasty!

This scene is very similar to the Chinese people two thousand years later. No matter men, women, young and old, they see the bright national flag, and they have to respect each other whenever and wherever they are!

Ren Hong also stood silently next to Xu Fengde, feeling this familiar scene, and said intimately:

"This is why we still call ourselves Han people two thousand years later..."

The eight-foot Han Festival, the three-fold yak tail, carries a kind of spiritual integrity that can transcend the dynasty!

Xuan Quanzhi everyone held their hands like this, watching the Han Dynasty and the chariot of the chastity gradually approaching.

The car is the standard style of the official carriage in the Han Dynasty. It is lighter than the van and square vans, and there is an umbrella cover above the carriage.

Like later generations, cars are a symbol of a person's identity. For example, the number of horses driving is like the displacement of a car, eight-cylinder or four-cylinder, and the difference is obvious.

The texture of the components, size of the car cover, and color of the car are also good ways to distinguish between high and low.

But I saw that the hood on the roof of the four-horse car was soap-colored, and the fān on both sides used to fān was painted in vermilion red.

In the early Han Dynasty, because it was a country built by a group of mud-legged, the etiquette system was very sparse. It was not until the reign of Emperor Jing of Han that the Han Dynasty's chariots, horses, and uniforms system was improved. It was stipulated that the 2,000 stone carriages and 2,000 stone carriages were all red, 1,000 stone, and 600 stones were painted only the left tray red.

Although Fu Jiezi is only a 600-stone horse supervisor, because he is responsible for the scepter of the court, the shape of the chariot and horse is the same as that of 2,000-stone.

In addition to carriages, the entourage also has different specifications. The two "Wu Bai" who were holding flags in front of the car, two riders on the left and right, and several sub-cars followed behind. Although they were not as large as the county magistrate Xingchun, they were also more likely than the county magistrate to go out.

It was not until the car stopped in front of the main entrance of Xuanquanzhi that Ren Hong could see Fu Jiezi clearly.

The Han envoy who had Ren Hong waited for a long time was over 40 years old, with a strong figure and a red face and short beard. The beard was obviously cultivated by himself, and he looked very capable. He wore a turtle crown on his head, showing his heroic spirit. Although he was traveling all night, there was no fatigue in the eyes of a pair of tigers.

He was wearing a red silk robe and black lower robe, with a slightly raised belly, a long sword hanging on his belt, pressing the sword with his left hand and holding the joint with his right hand. Even when he got off the car, Han Jie did not relax at all.

Xu Fengde brought Xuanquan to everyone to salute, not only to pay homage to the superior officials, but also to pay homage to the honorary officials:

"The officials and soldiers in Xuanquan have been placed in the air and met Duke Fu!"

There were no more than 100 or 80 stations on this mission. This scene was commonplace, and he just nodded slightly:

"Are you ready for food and wild grass?"

Xu Fengde smiled and said, "Everything is ready, just wait for Duke Fu to arrive."

Fu Jiezi nodded and walked forward two steps, as if he remembered something. He glanced at the officials of Xuanquan who were greeting by the road and asked:

"Who is Ren Hong?"

...

Xuanquan set up all the officials looking at the soap-clothed minor official standing beside Xu Fengde. Ren Hong then stepped out and bowed to Fu Jiezi:

"The lower official is Ren Hong."

Just now, Ren Hong's first thought when he saw Fu Jiezi was not relieved after waiting for a long time, nor was he inexplicably excited.

Instead, he thought, "Fu Jiezi is indeed a big figure and a little taller than me. No wonder he can eat two chickens in one meal!"

Fu Jiezi didn't know Ren Hong's thoughts, so he looked him up and down and asked:

"A real man has no other ambitions, but he should follow Zhang Qian and Fu Jiezi made contributions to foreign lands. How could he spend a long time working in the pen and inkstone... What did you say?"

"It was the officials who heard about Fu Gong's deeds and said nonsense for a while." Ren Hong noticed that Su Yannian, who had been ordered by the commander of the central Dunhuang commander to welcome Fu Jiezi, and Chen Pengzu and others were also beside Fu Jiezi. They must have talked about themselves.

Fu Jiezi stroked his short beard and said, "I am very ambitious, but do you think I can compare with Bo Wanghou?"

Ren Hongcun's head: "The Marquis of Bowang sent Yuezhi, Dayuan and Wusun to open the Western Regions, and the northwest countries first connected to the Han Dynasty. Now the Western Regions have been out of place for more than ten years, and Fu Gong has connected it again, which is called the second time to open the Western Regions."

Ren Hong really admires himself, and he can think of such words as "divide" for the second time.

"Mr. Fu was still killing the Xiongnu envoys in Kucha to strengthen our country's prestige. Even the Marquis of Bo Wang has never done this. I think Mr. Fu's future fame will be no less than that of Bo Wang."

"It's good at speaking."

Fu Jiezi looked at the deputy envoys and officials who were accompanying him and pointed at Ren Hong and said:

"You can also be as sweet as Ren Hong, just praise me more."

The deputy envoy and the officials all laughed, but Xu Fengde said at this time: "If Mr. Fu likes this little official, he will take him with him next time!"

Ren Hong never expected that Xu Fengdehui would raise it at this time. Although it sounded like a joke, the laughter of the deputy envoy and the servant stopped.

The deputy envoy standing next to Fu Jiezi, wearing a long crown and a long beard shook his head and said:

"The old man was joking. Gong Fu was ordered by the imperial court to take an envoy. Every member of the escort had to report to the court. How could he add people at will?"

Xu Fengde apologized: "I am joking, joking."

He had helped Ren Hong to test for a round. This matter was indeed not that easy, but the key was Fu Jiezi.

Fu Jiezi didn't comment, but pointed at the many chariots and horses behind him and said:

"Ren Hong, I heard from Su Yannian that you are very capable as an official. You must treat me, such as my subordinates!"

After saying that, he walked forward directly.

"promise!"

Ren Hong responded, but he was a little confused about what Fu Jiezi meant. Xu Fengde leaned over and whispered to him:

"This horse supervisor is starting to take the exam to compete with you!"

...

"I think this Fu Jiezi admires orderly people, but he won't like someone who cares about one thing or another."

Xu Fengde whispered to Ren Hong: "Didn't Fu bring Tianma back from Dayuan this time? If the sweaty and bloody horse is injured, sick and dead, I can't afford it. You can make arrangements outside first, and then go in and pay a visit."

He patted Ren Hong on the shoulder: "Don't think too much, do your duty first, Lao Xia and I are here to warm up for you!"

"Thank you, miser!"

Ren Hong knew it and immediately guided the envoys' chariots and horses toward the stables.

There are no tiles on the roof of the stable, only citron wood is built, and a dense layer of reeds is laid on it. However, another layer of mud is laid, and repeated several times, it is enough to cope with the drought and rainy weather in Dunhuang.

Ren Hong had already visited the stable in the morning. The stable and the stable servants were diligent and dedicated. He had already prepared two widest horse pens for Tianma, cleaned them up and prepared enough "jiāo" for cattle and horses.

The water chestnut is a general term for cattle, horse and fodder, including wheat straw, millet poles, and forage grass. The water chestnut store has to receive many chariots and horses every day, requiring a lot of water chestnuts, or from the drafts collected from the fields every year by the government, or recruiting people to harvest them in the wild and hand them over.

But Yima is not good enough to eat grass only. It is not only thin, but also prone to illness.

You need to use a guillotine to chop the grass and mix it with water with grain and beans. The horses eat a lot and can eat two buckets of grain in one meal. When you encounter someone who has to travel hundreds of miles a day and night, the stable officials have to endure the pain and mix in a few eggs that they can't bear to eat...

Considering that the Dayuan Tianma was just a new arrival and was not necessarily used to the Central Plains for the forage, Ren Hong also asked the stable officials to prepare alfalfa (mù xu) for them.

Alfalfa comes from Dayuan, the hometown of sweat and blood horses. It is also an alien species introduced by Zhang Qian after he was dug up. This thing is not used as a medicinal material, but is planted on a large scale as feed. From Guanzhong to Dunhuang, purple flowers with alfalfa blooming in the garden fields can be seen everywhere.

But Ren Hong looked around in Fu Jiezi's mission team and saw various horses, even tall Baceng, but he did not see the legendary Tianma!

"How strange..." Fu Kui Sui also discovered this and looked at Ren Hong, feeling something strange.

But the people in Fu Jiezi's delegation did not seem to care about this. Most of them were scouts and soldiers wearing red scarves and armor. They returned from thousands of miles away, full of energy, but they were very energetic. Their conversation was very different from the officials who were always stuck in a small place.

They are all people who have been to the west of the Pamir Mountains.

When Ren Hong saw that Su Yannian also came to tie the horse, he went over and said hello:

"Su Jun, I didn't expect to meet again so soon."

Su Yannian rushed to the road for several days and was a little tired. When he saw Ren Hong, he smiled and said, "Yes, we never thought that Mr. Fu came so quickly. Fortunately, he met him, otherwise he might have broken his job."

They were going to go to Yumen to greet them, but as soon as they arrived in Dunhuang, they met Fu Jiezi, which shows that they were in a hurry...

After a few greetings, Ren Hong asked Su Yannian:

"By the way, did Mr. Su see the Tianma that Mr. Fu welcomed back from Dayuan?"

Ren Hong wanted to detect the reactions of others, but deliberately did not control the volume. After hearing this, the delegation members who were still chatting loudly next to the stable suddenly became quiet.

Everyone looked at him with strange eyes. Su Yannian quickly pulled Ren Hong aside and whispered:

"Don't mention this again! The two heavenly horses that Dayuan tributed this time were still halfway, and they died!"
