Chapter 146 Han Yuefu
"Is this the name of the poem Ren Jun wrote?"
On the way to the east of Yumen Guan in the early morning, Liu Yaoguang still remembered the four heroic and magnificent sentences on the wall.
Ren Hong added the three words "Jobs in the Army" under this short poem as the title.
She could imagine that a year and a half ago, when Ren Hong followed Fu Jiezijun out of Yumen, the young man looked back at Yumen and set great ambitions in his heart.
What’s the result? If you say Loulan is defeated, Loulan will be destroyed! You will also destroy Kucha. What a pride.
"I just don't know, can this poem have music?"
Liu Yaoguang held his beloved Qin Pipa with a little itchy skills. Her favorite is this kind of poetry with the sound of gold and iron, which would be even better if she could play and sing.
"I don't understand music theory and have not composed music yet."
Ren Hong is self-aware. He can copy a poem, but music is a technical job for professionals and cannot do it at all.
Poetry music is coming, so there is music when there is poetry. Songs are eternal, and sounds are eternal, and the rhythm is harmonious. In the pre-Qin and Han dynasties, most poems can be sung with music. The Book of Songs has the saying "Three hundred poems, three hundred string poems, three hundred poems, and three hundred poems for dancing". If the nobles in the Spring and Autumn Period want to write poems to express their aspirations at banquets, they have to rap and dance triathlons, and those with incomplete tone or inconsistent body should not go up and show their ugly expressions.
During the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, Yuefu was set up, with the great musician Li Yannian as the commander of Xielu, and dozens of lyricists, including Sima Xiangru, wrote lyrics, briefly discussing the lyrics, combining the tunes of the eight-sounding tunes, and writing 19-chapter songs. On the Xin day of the first month, it was on the Circular Mound of Ganquan Palace, and seventy boys and women were singing together.
To separate the process, we will write music, write lyrics, and chorus of children in later generations.
When Liu Yaoguang heard that there was no music in "The Military Tour", he immediately became interested and volunteered to say, "Can you please let me write it?"
Ren Hong agreed immediately: "I can't find it, but my improvised poem is a bit unrhymeful."
The rhymes of the Han Dynasty are still very different from those of the Tang Dynasty. Thanks to the inheritance of Chinese characters, a poem may be read and read and understood, but once the music is recorded, it will be out of tune.
But Liu Yaoguang just wanted to challenge her. She was the best pipa player in Wusun. When she went to Chang'an, she also wanted to "learn the piano and drum" from the music official in Pingle Shanglin Yuefu.
She told Ren Hong: "Before my mother went to Wusun to marry, she had studied rituals and music in Shanglin Yuefu. She told me that there are generally four ranks of Han music..."
"One is called the Great Music, and the other is called the Zhou Song Ya Music, both of which are ancient music and are directed by Taile and are specially played during sacrificial ceremonies."
"The third is the drums of the Yellow Gate, and the emperor plays them when he feasts and musics among his ministers; the fourth is the song of the short flute and chant, which is the joy of the army, and they are all under the jurisdiction of the Yuefu."
After listening to Liu Yaoguang's popular science, Ren Hong learned that the short flute song also included topics such as going out of the frontier and entering the frontier. The most famous song is "Fighting in the South of the City", which describes the life of the frontier and the garrison. The theme is similar to the frontier poems of the Tang Dynasty.
Most of the lyrics of these lyrics have been lost, but the tunes have been used in the Southern Dynasty and have been adopted by the Tang people. For example, there is a very familiar song called "Jiangjinjiu" in the lyrics...
"In addition to blowing the short Xiao, Yuefu also collected the winds of the dynasty, Zhao Zhiyou, Qin and Chu, all of which were inspired by sorrow and joy, and were produced by events. The tunes and rhymes in different places are different, so there are always suitable for use in this poem."
Liu Yaoguang immediately fiddled with Qin Pipa and began to try to music the poem: "When I arrived in Chang'an and entered Shanglin Yuefu, I would use this "Jobs and Arrivals" as the first song!"
"I want those noble ladies who learn to play the piano and dance in Yuefu. The sound of the frontier is so majestic, countless times stronger than the resentment of the deep boudoir. And this poem by Renjun will definitely be selected into Yuefu songs and sang to Chang'an!"
Ren Hong only felt a little strange, but it was not easy to stop Yaoguang. He could only whisper in Luoke's ear:
"Radish, radish, do you think this "Jobs" is a good Tang poem, why did it turn into a Han Yuefu poem?"
...
It takes two full days to travel from Yumen to Dunhuang City. On the first day, we arrived at Hecang City. There were a lot more naan pits here than in the past. On the second day, we arrived at the place where Danghe and Shule River converged, and walked south along the west bank of Danghe River.
Along the way, Princess Yaoguang was thinking about compiling music, either concentrating on thinking hard or gently fiddling with the pipa.
The prince of Wusun, Liu Wannian, was almost crazy. The little kid gradually became distracted from the excitement of seeing Yumen Pass for the first time, and complained:
"I thought the scenery would be different after entering the Han Dynasty. But for two days after entering the pass, Dunhuang still had only deserts and poplars, and I didn't even see a larger city. What about the promised wealthy Shangbang? What is the difference between it and the Western Regions?"
Nonsense, Dunhuang County is the smallest county among the 103 counties and states of the Han Dynasty, with only more than 30,000 people. Dunhuang City is not bad, but I want to find a large population outside. Isn’t it because I’m looking for fish from a tree?
Ren Hong wanted to teach this little boy a lesson, so he pointed to the fields connected by the fields along the Dang River to show Liu Wannian: "Prince Wannian is the prosperity and strength of the country, not the size of the city or the height of the temple, but in this inconspicuous fields and ditches."
"There are also ditches in Loulan, Shanshan." Liu Wannian argued violently, but he didn't see any name anyway.
"The ditches in the Western Regions are chaotic, how can they be compared with those of Dunhuang, a finely planned one?"
Ren Hong pointed to the largest ditches: "This is called Maquankouyan, which was built in the sixth year of Emperor Xiaowu's Yuanding. The dam is 150 steps north and south, 20 steps wide, and 2 zhang high. It has five doors, and divides water to irrigate the countryside. The water flow can be adjusted according to the water potential and ensures that it is uniform, and irrigates three thousand hectares of fields!"
This is the hub of Dunhuang water conservancy. In addition to Maquankouyan, there are many small canals around, most of which were built by the government, such as the second right inner canal they arrived next, with a water gate of six feet wide and twelve miles wide.
A carefully designed irrigation network formed from this.
They are like the arteries and capillaries of Dunhuang, connecting Danghe and Shule River to arid farmland. It is now early July, when abundant snow water in the Qilian Mountains flows into the fields through ditches, nourishing the gradually yellowing millet.
Although Dunhuang has a small population, when Emperor Wu of Han conquered Dayuan, the fields here could support tens of thousands of troops. If there were no such ditches, they would have to look at the sky and eat like in the Western Regions.
Ren Hong remembered that he had heard of a saying of "water conservancy civilization": Because water conservancy irrigation in Eastern society requires integrated cooperation and mobilizes the country's manpower and material resources, it must be managed and controlled strongly, thus the kingship was created and further evolved into the old empire.
This is the "Asian mode of production" proposed by Marx.
For an agricultural civilization, the foundation of civilization is not the height of the city or the size of the palace, but the amount of manpower and material resources invested in water conservancy.
A huge irrigation network often takes several generations to complete, and it tests the organizational strength of a country. Without these basic construction, even if there are many wonders, it will collapse overnight.
Therefore, in Dunhuang, where there is no rain, leading immigrants to open up ditches and build water conservancy is the most important function of the county government.
The county has a master's water history, and the lower commands the Eastern Du water officials and the Western Du water officials. They lead officials, prisoners, and slaves to rectify water conservancy. There is also a canal chief, who is responsible for managing the official canal and allocating the canal water. There is also a water supervisor who is responsible for inspecting water conservancy.
The canal soldiers and canal soldiers mainly come from Guanzhong and Hedong, which is the most concentrated place in the Dahan water conservancy ditches. They are very experienced in how to dig trenches and wells...
In Dunhuang, we can only see through the leopards. In the Han Dynasty, almost every county and county had supporting water conservancy ditches. These efforts have increased the local grain output little by little, and the warehouses have been closely related to each other, which has also allowed the Han Dynasty to rely only on dozens of counties in the north to basically support more than 50 million people.
This is the benefit brought by the peace of the Chu and Han dynasties for more than a hundred years after the Chu and Han dynasties. If wars are frequent and internal struggles are continuous, water conservancy ditches will easily be silted and abandoned, and as they come, the population will fall sharply.
However, Liu Wannian was completely uninterested in these things that constituted the foundation of civilization.
However, Liu Yaoguang pointed to the distance, and a group of people were working hard to get to the world, and baskets of soil were constantly being transported up.
"What are they doing? Are they digging a well?"
Ren Hong nodded and shook his head again: "Yes, not."
"What does your opinion mean?"
Ren Hongxiao said: "Dunhuang people call this skill 'Hundred Eyes Crossing Well', so it is indeed a kind of well."
He said mysteriously again: "But under the seemingly ordinary wellhead, there is still some mystery. Do the princess and the prince want to see it?"
As soon as this statement was spoken, Liu Wannian's curiosity was immediately attracted. He wanted to go over and watch the soldiers working in the Qu work, but was stopped by Ren Hong.
"Don't delay their work. Let's go south for a while. If you remember correctly, there is a digging in front of you. If Chief Qu agrees, we can go down and find out!"
