Chapter 4: Magic Pharmacy (Part 1)

Chapter 4: Magical Potion

The boy called out Salin's name and his hand had shrunk back. Salin didn't want to hurt him, otherwise the level 0 magic would be enough to burn the opponent's flesh at close range.

Deka?

Salin recognized the boy opposite and felt a little strange. Deka met when Salin was begging, and was also an orphan. At that time, both of them were down and out, as thin and dirty. When they met here today, Salin's temperament completely changed, and Deka was the same, and he could not tell that he was the wanderer at the time.

Deka smiled embarrassedly. He knew about Salin, but he had not recognized it. The other party had become a student of the magician, and I wonder if he would still recognize him as a friend from poor and humble age.

"Go and wait for me at the door." Salin patted Deka on the shoulder, but he grew taller than Deka this year.

Deka felt a fever, and she turned sideways out, waiting in the shadow across the street.

There is no professional union in Ceylon City, so the equipment store seems deserted. Adventurers are concentrated in the southern border of the empire, and there are few pirates on the northern coast. Salin came to the counter and called out to the boss.

The counter was more than one foot higher than the ground, and the boss was sleepy and lay on the counter. Hearing someone screaming, he didn't see anyone with his eyes open, so he stood up and saw Salin, who was shorter than the counter.

"Ah! Master Metatrilin!" The boss immediately felt energetic when he saw Salin.

Salin waved his hand and signaled the boss not to make noise. He handed over the list of items that Jason gave him and asked, "How much does it cost to settle these?"

The boss glanced on the list and smiled. This business is not small, worth at least one hundred gold coins. It might not be a big city, but in Ceylon City, this is a rare business.

"Master Metatrilin, wait a moment." The boss took the abacus and began to make a comeback.

Seeing that the boss calculated the price of the items, Salin simply turned around in the store. The equipment store is not small in size, but there are no shelves in the middle, and all the goods are placed on the cabinets against the wall. The most eye-catching thing is the two armors at the door of the store.

These are two fully enclosed knight armors, even the parts of their eyes are inlaid with polished crystals. Few people wear this type of armor because the knight class disappeared during the Fourth Dynasty. Now only the Holy Church has maintained a knight order of ten thousand people, and all the four empires have abolished the knight organization.

These two armors are old in style, and the metal armor pieces have been polished again, and they look antiques, with cultural relics worth more than their use value. Salin admired the armor and put his hands on them.

The mental power cannot be penetrated! It seems that it is a real thing. It is basically impossible to break the armor's defense with level 0 magic. The defense of this metal armor is worse than that of ordinary leather armor, but it is not as good as magic armor. Salin knew it in his mind. His combat power was still a bit reluctant to deal with swordsmen wearing armor.

If one person deals with two soldiers, he will basically have no chance.

A little frustrated and excited. After a brief contact, I calculated the approximate defense ability of the armor and what level of magic it needs to destroy. Unfortunately, I can't see hope for the time being, and it's nowhere to be a formal magician.

"Master Metatrim!" The boss had finished calculating and said with a smile: "There are 180 gold coins in total. Do you see if you can pay a deposit of 100 gold coins? I am a small transaction here, so I can't turnover."

"Yeah." Salin turned around, threw two whole bags of gold coins on the counter, and asked, "When will I pick up the goods?"

"It's all right next week. Do you need delivery?"

"No, the teacher doesn't like others to disturb you."

"Then wait a moment, I'll issue a ticket for you." The boss put away the gold coins, and Salin asked casually: "Can you order anything like this?"

"Mr. Metatriline, I purchased goods from Yaoyang City. There are Yaoyang City, and I can order them here. If you want special things, you have to order them in Holy Rock City. The time is much slower, and I'm afraid you have to wait for a month."

"Yeah, I understand." Salin took the tickets fired by the boss and turned around and left the equipment store.

"Dicha." Salin went out and waved to the opposite side of the street. Deicha walked out of the shadow, and the two of them met, not knowing what to say for a moment.

"Find a place to eat." Salin felt hungry. This time he wouldn't go to the Ceylon Whale. The two of them went north along the dock and found a small shop. It was morning and there was no one eating. So they sat down by the window. Salin asked for two portions of fish noodles.

Rolling the noodles with a fork, the two of them ate silently. After almost all of their food, Salin put down his fork and asked, "Dika, why are you..."

"Stealing, right?" Deka also put down his fork, pondered for a moment, and whispered: "At this time last year, a group of thieves came to the city. At that time, a group of children were collected, and I was one of them. No one forced me, and you also know that children like us would starve to death on the street at any time."

"Robbers?" Salin frowned. The rogue's reputation was not good. Once caught, most nobles would execute the thief and not even interrogate them.

Deka saw Salin's concern and comforted him, "It's okay, this thief group will not do a red case." Seeing that Salin didn't understand, Deka explained, "We only take things and don't kill people. Generally, we don't rely on robbery, most of them are cheating. If the matter is exposed, they will be left alone, and few people will investigate it."

"It's not a long-term solution." Salin couldn't help but say. In the industry of thieves, there are few people who have a good ending. Even if they become a high-level thief and make money, they are difficult to retreat bravely.

"There's no way, it's too late for me to quit now." Deka whispered, and his eyes were still sweeping the door.

"How can I find you in the future?"

"It's easy to find me, why not go back to the secret room with me and meet my leader?"

"Hmph." Salin's face suddenly became cold. His two clear eyebrows raised almost at the same time, and he stared at Dika and said, "Is this what your leader meant? Needless to say, go back and tell him that if you want to live a long life, don't make any decisions."

Deka felt chill all over, Salin's eyes looked like a sharp sword, and he even subconsciously wanted to touch the dagger in his boots. However, his wrist moved slightly, and his hands immediately hurt. Salin's burned hand reminded him of the other party's identity.

"Sarin, I can't help it. In fact, in winter, the leader asked me to find you."

"I'm not interested in the thieves. If my teacher knows about this, I can't protect you. Deka, please take care of yourself." After Salin said that, he took out a gold coin, put it on the table, and left without looking back.

Deka sat there, a little lost. Salin was not the simple child he used to be. He just made a vague suggestion and saw through it. Could this be the ability of magic?

Salin walked out and the wind blew towards them. The breath that was suffocated in his heart finally went much smoother. A thief actually wanted to cling to the magician! The teacher was too lazy to even take care of the city lord.

If this person is ungrateful, it would be better to find a way to kill him, so as not to implicate Deka. In Ceylon City, he is the only friend left.

Salin himself did not realize that after experiencing what happened half a year ago, he became decisive and extremely sensitive to danger. Jason did not provide any extra guidance to him. He just read books, cooked for Jason, and had dinner together. That's it. In subtlety, Salin's temperament has completely changed.

After finding the grain store, placing an order, and delivering gold coins, Salin bought enough food to eat for half a year, and left Ceylon City in a relaxed mood.

He had fantasized more than once that if he had money, he would live happily in the city, dressed in a bright clothes, furious horses, and mellow wine and music. When he really had money, he realized that this idea was so naive. Dark clouds gathered in the sky, Salin speeded up his pace. In the summer of Ceylon City, rain always came unexpectedly.

Back at the ancestral house, Salin went to meet Jason and told him about the arrival date.

Jason suddenly asked, "Sarin, how long have I been here?"

“A year and six days.”

"Well, next week you go pick up the goods and bring this." Jason gave Salin a huge skin. Then he said, "From next week, on the first day of each week, you will accompany me to do magic experiments."

"teacher!"

"From today, you will be my official student."

Salin was excited. Jason never let him watch the experiment. He thought he would not get the teacher's personal guidance. He didn't expect that the day would come so quickly. He didn't know that this time he entered the city, Jason followed him from a distance. Even his conversation with Deka was heard by Jason.

Salin passed this test. If there was a question between him and Deka, Jason had to give up on him. Cultivating a student will not only put effort into energy, but also affection. As for Salin's elemental affinity issue, we can only find a way in the future.

Jason looked at his student with a smile. He took out a bottle and handed it to Salin, saying, "You take one pill every day to improve your physical condition. If you eat it, ask me again."

Salin stroked the porcelain bottle as big as a palm, not knowing how to express his feelings.

"Go and read a book, I hope you can keep working so hard in the future."

"Yes, teacher!" Salin cheered in his heart. He returned to his room, took off his boots, changed his robe, threw the remaining gold coins on the table, and then he breathed evenly.

After gaining Jason's recognition, Salin worked harder. On the first day of the week, he accompanied Jason in the Magic Lab to do magic experiments, and Jason would explain to him the principles of magic in the experiment. On the fifth day of the week, he went to the city to place an order and retrieve the experimental materials ordered last week. During the rest of the time, he was still reading books. When he encountered something he couldn't understand, he asked on Monday and Jason answered it for him.

He left the matter behind Deka's mind. A hidden thieves appeared in Ceylon City, which was a headache for the city lord. Salin has accepted the saying in the book that magicians are free from the world, and should never interfere with the lives of ordinary people except when they are hired.

After another half a year, Salin learned the sixth level 0 magic, magic alarm. This is a barrier magic, which can last for 2 hours per casting. Depending on the casting method, the magic alarm generated can be sound or silent.
