Chapter Six Military System

The country's lineage has been dominated by Zhoushan for a long time, but has never been better. Because it does not have enough territory to raise soldiers, the landing of grain collection and smuggling have become the main financial sources of its landing. However, the country's lineage can mobilize the most mobile troops. The reason is that the important strongholds of the country's country are in the Zhoushan Islands, Kinmen Island, and Xiamen Island, are all hanging alone at the sea. Over the years, the United States and various anti-Qing forces have worked together at sea. On the southeast coast, the Manchu Navy has always been weak. The country's power can use the sea instead of 6 to defend. For this group of people, the landing of grain collection is for survival, and it is also for survival to serve as a "long-term worker" for the United States and the Yongli regime.

The vassal states under the name of Zheng Fan and other governors, Li Mingxun's most eye-catching was his ability to land in the 6th battle. These vassal states often come ashore and are very familiar with land in the 6th battle, which can make up for the United States' shortage in the 6th Navy team.

During the Sino-Dutch War, although the 6th Navy team did not conduct a large-scale decisive battle, it was stationed overseas in large numbers after the war. Nanhua, South Africa and Wendao Port were the key points. Moreover, in the Sino-Dutch War, the 6th Navy team was deployed in Nanyang for many years, with a high injury rate and many battalions were incomplete. More importantly, after the 6th Army completed the military system reform, the 6th Team also caught up with this trend. Now there are only three battalions that can participate in the Guangdong-Guangdong battlefield.

"This time we recovered Guangdong and Guangxi, our country decided to send more than 50,000 troops, of which nearly 30,000 troops were from the 6th Division, and the rest were naval divisions and supplies. I was also the commander-in-chief of the Allied Forces participating in the battle this time." Li Mingxun introduced to everyone in a deep voice.

As soon as this was said, everyone was in an uproar. In this battle, allied troops would have more than 150,000 troops. Even Hong Kong, which was chosen as the main battlefield, had 86th Divisions. In addition, nearly 40,000 naval divisions would have participated in the battle. The number of troops was a scale that had never been seen in the Anti-Qing War. Obviously, Li Mingxun was not only dealing with the Three Han vassals in Guangdong and Guangxi, but also other reinforcements from the Qing court.

In terms of the six-match forces in the United States that participated in the battle, there was a total of one reorganized 6 military division, one mixed brigade, one cavalry brigade and two heavy artillery battalions, and there were three 6 battle battalions to assist in the war. The main force of the United States was the reorganized 6 military division, also known as the First Division of the 6th Army.

Due to the current command and communication methods, the 6th Army of the United States adopts the block system, with two brigades under one division, two regiments under each regiment, two battalions under each regiment, and two sub-battalions under each regiment, and four to five infantry companies under each sub-battalion. In addition to the infantry units, the First Division also has direct troops, including a reinforced grenade battalion, an artillery battalion, a mixed cavalry regiment and a baggage battalion, and one engineer battalion. In addition to these directly affiliated battalion-level units, there are field hospitals, military police, and communication companies. For this battle, a reinforced boat bridge battalion was strengthened.

The brigade-level units also have direct troops, including a flying cavalry and artillery company, a brigade artillery company, service and military police unit.

According to statistics, the 6th Army's First Division had a total of more than 9,000 infantry combat battalions and about 1,200 combat cavalry, plus artillery, engineers and other technical troops, as well as the Zhouqiao battalion temporarily dispatched by the 6th Army, a total of about 17,000 people.

The division's artillery battalion contains four companies of artillery units, including six twelve pounds of field cannons, twelve 6 pounds of field cannons, and six 24 pound howitzers (5.5 inches), while the brigade-level unit also has two flying cavalry cannons, a total of twelve four-pound cannons. Therefore, the first division of the reorganized 6th Army has a total of thirty field cannons and six howitzers.

The war horses serving the 6th Army's First Division include cavalry, communications, military police and officers' horses, totaling about 2,400 horses. The military horses serving artillery, boat bridges, engineers, and baggage were over 4,000. During the war, the baggage battalions and other battalions would temporarily strengthen the seized and requisitioned local horses.

Overall, the first division of the reorganized 6th Army had a total of 17,000 troops, 36 artillery pieces and 6,400 horses. This scale is huge, but it is not the largest unit in the 6th Army. The Second Division, established with the First Division, is now in the training of Jeju Island. It is located in the Beiyang War Zone. Among the division's units, there are more cavalry and artillery, but fewer boat bridges and engineer units, and the organization is luxurious.

The 6th Army's First Division has been built for the Guangdong War Zone since its establishment. Of course, it has now been upgraded to the Southern War Zone and many river ports in the south. Because the First Division cannot arrange more cavalry combat troops, considering that the Sanhan Vatican had a large number of cavalry, the battle temporarily strengthened a mixed brigade and a cavalry brigade. The mixed brigade included three infantry battalions, a strengthened cavalry regiment, and an artillery battalion, with a total of more than 7,000 people, of which the cavalry had two thousand cavalry.

The Cavalry Brigade is the largest unit in the United States cavalry, with one regiment of heavy cavalry and light cavalry each, and two regiments of dragon cavalry. The heavy cavalry is breastplate cavalry. In addition to breastplate and helmets, sabers and pistols are the main weapons. The main weapon of the light cavalry is the sabers. The Dragoon regiment is more similar to horse infantry, and mainly uses firearms, mainly flint carbines. In addition to three types of cavalry, the Cavalry Brigade also has two companies of flying cavalry artillery.

Obviously, whether it is cavalry or infantry, it is very troublesome to break through the fortification group run by the Sanhan Vatican. Heavy firepower is naturally indispensable. One of the two reinforced heavy artillery battalions is mainly 24-pound siege cannons, and the other is ten-inch mortar cannons. This is the main firepower reliance for breaking through the Qing army's offensive.

The various vassal states of the Ming army obtained the organization table of the 6th Army of the United States. Although they disagree with Li Mingxun's counting the types of ships such as boat bridges, baggage and logistics as among the 30,000 divisions, they saw full sincerity because the United States provided the most urgent artillery and cavalry of each unit. Except for the Jin vassal state, the rest of the Ming army did not have large-scale cavalry.

The new military system of the 6th Army of the United States aroused the interest of the various vassal states of the Ming army, but their greater interest was still various new weapons, such as flints and artillery, and especially the twenty-four-pound howitzers that could drive flowering bullets out of 600 meters, which made the heads of the army envious.

The new military system was summarized by the Command and the 6th Army based on previous experience. After completing the military organization reform, Li Mingxun prompted him to carry out the military rank system reform. Li Shan, the commander of the First Division of the 6th Army, was awarded the rank of major general, establishing the position of division commander as a general, while the brigade level was brigade general or colonel, the regiment level was lieutenant colonel, and the battalion level was rank of major. The technical corps team was promoted to the first level of military rank based on the infantry battalion organization, such as the artillery battalion commander was lieutenant colonel, and in the military rank system, Gao Feng of the 6th Army and Simmons of the Navy were awarded the rank of general. Wumu, the commander of the 6th Army, could only get the rank of lieutenant general because the 6th Army was not an independent corps, and Li Mingxun was awarded the rank of marshal by the Senate as the founding of the army and the commander of the three armies.

The same reforms are also underway in the navy. In the navy fleet, the commander of the battleship is usually a colonel, but the commander of the flagship is a major general and the commander of the squadron. The captain of the heavy patrol is a lieutenant colonel, and the captain of the frigate is a captain. If he is a commander of various types of fleets, he will be promoted to one or two levels. Only the commander of the Navy, the Indian Ocean Fleet and the Beiyang Fleet, were awarded the rank of lieutenant general.

The reform of organization and military rank system has made the construction of the three armies of the United States more standardized and systematic, and has completely distanced itself from the old army. Similar organization and military rank system have accumulated experience in the use of military forces in the past fourteen years, and also the "pull the seedlings and encourage growth" from Li Mingxun. However, everything still needs to be tested by war. Only victory can prove that the new army system is correct, and the upcoming battle between Guangdong and Guangxi will be the greatest opportunity.

Starting from late July, various units of the Ming army arrived in Hong Kong and entered the military camps in the New Territories. The first part was the military of the country, followed by the Jinfan, and then the western Guangdong army. The reason why the recent army of the western Guangdong army finally arrived was to avoid the sudden withdrawal of troops from western Guangdong, causing the collapse of the western Guangdong defense line. The troops were transferred until September. According to the combat plan formulated by the commander, the battle will start around October, and take advantage of the period when the winter rains, low temperatures and river water levels in the southern region are low.

In the operation to recover Guangdong and Guangxi, other battlefields also need to provide assistance, such as Zhoushan in Zhejiang, Kinmen and Xiamen in Fujian, Qingdao fortresses in Shandong and Korean battlefields. The same request for assistance reached the Qin Fan, which was not yet subordinate to the unified front of the Anti-Qing imperial enemy. Sun Kewang did not respond, but all the Allied troops knew that Sun Kewang should not give up this great opportunity to take advantage.

In Hong Kong, the Commander-in-Chief divided the garrisons and barracks for each department, and handed over some local military and civilian facilities to each department for use. However, the small Hong Kong suddenly poured into 70,000 to 80,000 troops, which still brought many public security problems. In particular, the military disciplines of various Ming army units were very poor, and they forced to buy, sell, or even steal and rob. In this case, Li Mingxun asked the military leaders of the vassal states to send capable generals and personal soldiers and the military police battalion under the commander-in-Chief to form a military police force. Military judges sent military police to various departments to implement military disciplines. After half a month, hundreds of people were punished, the army suppressed the army's harassment of Hong Kong.

The various divisions have rebounded against the strict military discipline, especially the fact that the military camps are not allowed to be stationed around towns makes it difficult for the soldiers who have just received military pay to consume. Fortunately, there are many groups of merchants in Hong Kong, and small merchants set up stalls in front of each military camps to provide various services, which can barely stabilize each division. Among the divisions, the Qiongfan has the best military discipline. It has been a long time to join forces with the United States and is familiar with the 6th Army of the United States, and it has been smoothly accepted by the military police. The worst is Zhengfan. These soldiers often go ashore to collect grain, and do not distinguish between our military and civilians at all. They even gave birth to the Zhengfan Navy blackmail ransom merchant ships in the Lingdingyang and were sunk by the Hong Kong Coast Guard. The local Hong Kong merchants hated the Ming army and always wanted to send these plague gods away as soon as possible.

However, Hong Kong's parliamentary and administrative agencies were very enthusiastic about the arrival of the Ming army. Some large businessmen groups also joined the labor force. The reason is very simple. Hong Kong makes a living from the Pearl River Delta. As long as Guangdong and Guangxi recover, Hong Kong will usher in its third prosperity.

On the Double Ninth Festival, the local administrative agencies in Hong Kong organized a large-scale military operation, sending chrysanthemum wine, dogwood and Double Ninth cake to each department, and an additional dish of food was added to the Jinfan camp - dumplings.

Jinfan was born in Xiying. Many veterans and officers in Xiying were from northern Shaanxi or Central Plains. They wandered around all year round and were used to eating rice. When they saw the delicious food in their hometown, they burst into tears. Li Dingguo used to make the refined flour sent by the commander into famous pants bag noodles, sauce noodles and other noodles in the northwest. After they were eaten and used by Jinfan, they became even more ambitious and vowed to recover Guangdong and Guangxi and restore the Central Plains.

The 6th Army lost Shandong, and the United States lost the largest wheat-producing area. Fortunately, with the development and immigration of the Hokkien land, the United States planted wheat on the plains on the Hokkien land. As the Yongning administrative region opened to the Northeast Plain, it also had the ability to produce spring wheat on both the Sanjiang Plain and the Nenjiang River. The United States once again obtained sufficient flour supply, but it still could not be used as a staple food.

The large-scale military preparations of the United States and the Allied vassal states in the south naturally could not deceive the Qing court. Before that, the Manchu court began to change in response to the new situation. After the two famous kings of Li Dingguo killed Nikan, the Qing Dynasty began to reappoint the front-line commander. The first one to be valued was the third-class slave Hong Chengchou.

Hong Chengchou had been suppressed by Dorgon before, and like Qian Qianyi, he was treated as a mascot. After Dorgon died in North Korea, with the support of Empress Dowager Bumubutai and Auxiliary King Jiergalang, the young emperor Fulin appointed Hong Chengchou as the governor of six provinces, including: Huguang, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou and Yunnan. Simply put, it was to entrust the entire Southwest War Zone to Hong Chengchou. Within the six provinces, both the governor and the general of the admiral must obey his orders. Even the Han vassal of the Han vassal of Hunan, Shungong, and the three Han vassals of Guangdong and Guangxi were the same.

However, at the beginning of this year, this appointment was boycotted by the Three Han vassals, especially the Ping and Jing vassals, which made several letters, making jokes. The Three Han vassals are old qualifications among traitors. When was it the turn of Hong Chengchou, a third-class slave, pointing fingers? Shunzhi had no choice but to hand over Guangdong to the jurisdiction of Shang Kexi, and Hong Chengchou became the governor of the five provinces.

At the beginning of the year, Hong Chengchou opened his prefecture in Changsha. Unlike when he was the governor of Jiangnan, this time he had great power. All military operations could be done cheaply. There was no need to ask the court for suppression and reunification. He only needed to report it later. All civil servants and generals in the five provinces were promoted, transferred, filled in, and dispatched by Hong Chengchou. Even the deputy generals could be executed first and then reported. Such power was only the prince of the royal family who had such great power before Hong Chengchou.
