Chapter 3: Preparations begin

Many people have entered the basketball court 66. They have gathered around the sidelines without exception and watched the showdown between the two big men on the court. Before the training has begun, the two people on the court have already sweated profusely.

"Okay, guys, come and gather." Ricard cleared his throat, his roaring voice overwhelmed the crowd of people, and everyone turned their heads to him.

The crowd that heard the coach's shouting slowly dispersed and went over to gather honestly. Only Andrew Morris and Anger were still competing, and no one was willing to leave the stadium first.

"It seems that you are too energetic. But I will count all of you push-ups!" Ricard seriously scolded the two who were competing. He was a strict head coach when he was coaching in high school, and he still would not change when he was in college.

"Oh! It's all very early!" At this time, the door of the gymnasium was pushed open, breaking the dead silence of the basketball court after being scolded by the head coach.

The middle-aged man with a gray head and beard walked in. He looked older than Ricard. This man was dressed formally and meticulously, giving people a very spiritual feeling.

"Hey, Moore." Ricard just shook hands with the visitor. The man was Ricard's assistant coach, but also Ricard's senior.

"Okay, thank you for coming to the basketball court on time. I just counted it, and no one was late. It seems that everyone here still has a correct attitude."

"Everyone knows that our school has not achieved great results in recent years. It has been unable to participate in the March Crazy Elimination Tournament for several years. I know that there are some old players among you who were on the team last year, but I still have to say that you played badly and your results are in front of everyone."

"Ha, do you think college basketball is simple?" A player whispered below. He should be the "old player" of the school team last year.

"In the future, you must add a coach before your name when talking to me." Ricard's ears were so bright that he quickly pushed back loudly.

"I have never underestimated college basketball, and I didn't say it would be a simple thing to rush into the March Crazy Elimination Tournament. Because of this, you all will be very hard in the future, and the failure has ended here. The training and casual games that were used to be careless will not happen again. You almost have to sacrifice all your spare time on the basketball court. Of course, I promise that you will give you a day of vacation in the week.

"Oh, damn!" At this point, the conversation suddenly started to begin.

Ricard ignored the crowd's comments and continued to speak on his own.

"Don't be late for training. I mean that if the training starts at five o'clock, then those who arrive after 4:50 are considered late. If you are late for a minute, you will be fifty times. Of course, don't forget to go back and forth to be considered as 100 times. It is not allowed to take leave for no reason. You have to go to the movie with your girlfriend? Please wait until the day of your vacation. In other words, except for the day of vacation, your life is only about class and basketball. In addition, you must obey my training plan and talk back to me. Five hundred push-ups. It's okay if you don't want to do it. Get out of the gymnasium from now on and don't come back. Gentlemen, whoever is not satisfied now can quit, I will never stop you." Ricard turned his body to the gymnasium gate and made a gesture of asking for help.

As soon as he finished speaking, three people walked out with dissatisfaction and walked straight out of the gymnasium. "What do you think you are doing? We are not prisoners, take these idiots to your crazy March." The dissatisfied curses echoed in the big basketball court.

"They are the top three players in our scoring list last season." Old Moore quietly reminded Ricard in his ear. Moore has been an assistant coach at Iowa State University for five years and is an experienced right-hand man, which can be of great help to Ricard, who has just come to the team.

"Then I guess we will have new scoring points this season. They are not worthy of my team, and our goals and pursuits are completely different." Ricard didn't even look at them.

"Congratulations, you have three less competitors. You saw it just now, and those two big men were hard to match." Everyone turned their eyes to Angel and Morris.

"Don't forget that there is fierce competition here. Those who stay now will not be able to play in the new season with us. The quality of the ball skills is not the best in my judgment. What I care more about is your determination and attitude. Maybe you can tolerate it now, but after a period of training, you may choose to leave like the three of you just now."

"I can't teach you how to play basketball well now, until your physical condition can reach the level I want to teach." When he said this, Ricard glanced at Anjie. This guy had a lot to improve, but moving his physical fitness towards professionalization was the first step he had to do.

"It's simple to run back. Now you all move for me. Let's only practice this today. Let me see if you can do the most basic things for me first." Ricard took out a whistle from his pocket.

..

After everyone stood in a row at the bottom line, Ricard's whistle sounded, and the quiet basketball court was immediately filled with the sound of basketball soles rubbing against the wooden floor.

"How many trips do we have to run? Coach." Yi asked loudly.

"Oh, it depends on how many trips you can run in an hour. Don't be lazy. Don't you understand the return run? You have to touch the bottom line before you can get back!"

"Hehe, I've never seen the boys on this basketball court train so obediently." Old Moore looked at the running figure in the field with a smile.

"The coach at Yi was a little too relaxed with them, which led to many old players getting used to laziness. Now we have found so many new players to compete with them, who dares to neglect? And there are really a few very good guys in these fresh blood that deserve to be well trained." Speaking of this, Ricard's eyes unconsciously fell on Anjie.

"You really have you, kid." Moore patted Ricard on the shoulder. He hadn't looked forward to this new season for a long time. In this way, what kind of team will I train? The cooperation with this new partner will definitely be very interesting.

..

After running for half an hour, An Jie's whole body was soaked with sweat, and his chest was getting bigger and bigger, and he was already breathing.

The confrontation with Morris just now consumed too much physical strength, and he had never performed high-intensity exercise so systematically. Anjie's steps gradually slowed down, and his legs looked like they were filled with lead, and it was very difficult to lift them up. This was the first time he had received regular basketball training in his life, but it was too contrasted with the interesting ball training he imagined.

"What's wrong? Can't you take a step?" Morris ran up from behind Angel. He was also sweating profusely, and the dou was almost no different from the beginning.

Looking at Morris who was gradually distanced from him, Angel was speechless. Although he was very dissatisfied, he could only watch Morris's back getting farther and farther away from him.

Six or seven people had already walked off the field, either lying on the floor, panting or looking for water to drink everywhere. They all gave up the first event of their training. They kept running back for hours, which was really not something that everyone could hold on.

All the training after today is indeed as Ricard said, with nothing but a return run. After running the round, he rested. After resting, he ran down the round. Even if he didn't let the players touch the basketball even in a minute. Everyone ended their basketball training in the sunset.

..

An Jie walked in the corridor of the empty dormitory and felt exhausted. After the training, he had to work part-time at a fast food restaurant. He stood in front of the ordering table for several hours, and he really wished he had the opportunity to sit for such a minute.

Coincidentally, the business of the fast food restaurant was so good that night, with customers coming in a row, so An Jie didn't have the chance to rest.

"Oh my god! Are you going to the fight team in the wrong place?" Jason, who was playing computer games in front of the table, saw An Jie, who was crooked after entering the door, fell directly on the bed. He threw down his mouse and walked forward curiously to see if there were any "parts" missing on An Jie.

"Damn, where are you touching me!"

"Hey, I've never seen you like this. You're a lunatic who doesn't know how tired you play basketball."

"Who the hell told you that we were playing basketball this afternoon, and that coach asked us all to run back in the afternoon." An Jie recalled the painful experience and felt that he was even less powerful.

"It must be that the basketball team's performance is too poor in recent years. The school is planning to transform you into a track and field team." Jason looked at his roommate sympathetically, glad that he was not selected by the coach. He returned to the computer and continued to play games, and talked to Anjie.

"If you want me to tell me you can just quit. Even if you don't want to touch basketball training, you might as well play jungle balls with you. You might as well be happy, don't you?"

An Jie didn't respond to him for a long time. He was already asleep just now.

"It's really a hell." Jason looked at his sleepy roommate and continued to concentrate on returning to the world of games.

.

He is 2 meters tall and has an arm span of 2 meters. Such a guy comes to the United States not to play basketball, but just to study abroad.

Looking at the player's physical examination data after training, Ricard's hand was stunned by Anjie's information. In fact, Anjie also wanted to enter the professional sports gate? It's just that in the eyes of most Chinese families, the job of professional athletes is so out of reach.

"Dear, aren't you still sleeping?" Peggy made a cup of hot coffee for her husband and walked to Ricard, who was still working.

"Oh, I didn't realize it was so late." Ricard took the coffee from his wife and held the hand that his wife put on his shoulder.

"It's only early September, and there are two months left before the new season begins. What are you studying?" Page picked up the player report on the table and read it casually.

"We are a team that has not entered the NCAA knockout stage for 22 years. There are so many things to do. Not only do we have to study the opponent's players, I also know very little about the players under my command. Moreover, I have also found a player worthy of training. How to guide him correctly is also a very troublesome thing."

"Okay, no one can cross all the steps in just a step. It's time for you to go and rest."

"Hu." Ricard stretched.

"You are right. I have to continue to torment those kids tomorrow."

..

The training on the first day ended like this. Other schools have just started school and the team has not even assembled. But Ricard started preparing for the new season two months in advance, which is a very long period of preparation for professional players.

To make a breakthrough in the results is his goal this season. To achieve this step, two months is already very urgent for him.

His second goal is to rack his brains to find the best Asian "gold mine" he found. He is not a special center coach. Maybe if he wants to have better results, he needs to add more new faces to the coaching team.

After two months of preparation, the group of players who can survive to the last will be the players he wants and the players who can lead the team to victory.

During the two-month preparation period, if An Jie can survive the training and survive the trial, then his chances of success will be even greater.
