Chapter 15 Cat and Mouse(1/2)

When the first ray of sunlight in the early morning shone through the glass floor-to-ceiling windows into the lobby on the first floor of the apartment, the three players who were woken up by the system early gathered downstairs.

The front desk on the first floor is empty, and the apartment manager is still not there.

"How did you sleep last night?" Lin You asked, "Is there anything in the room?"

Geng Qinghe: "Uh, no."

He suffered until the appointment was ten o'clock, but fortunately, he closed his eyes and quickly went downstairs to gather.

"I don't have it here either..." Jian Mingjia responded, and suddenly realized something wrong from this sentence, "Wait a minute, suddenly ask if this is a problem, is it that you encountered?"

"Yes," said Lin You, "but I slept quite well."

Geng Qinghe: "..."

Jianmingjia: "..."

No, no, no, this can no longer be described with just a big heart, right?

"You're still sleeping in that room because you're haunted?" Jian Mingjia said in disbelief, "I know you're not afraid, but you're at least symbolically hiding for a while, and you're going to squeeze in with me?"

"It's okay, nothing happened."

Lin You in turn comforted her.

"I discussed it with her, and then she calmed down."

Geng Qinghe, who had watched what she did in her entire copy, had a bad premonition, "...discuss?"

The next second, this premonition became true.

"Well," Lin You said, "There is a little girl making trouble in the mirror. I hung the mirror in reverse and started to smash the mirror. I took the nail and asked her to choose whether to be quiet or I just nailed it to the wall."

"She chose the one in front." She spread her hands.

“……………………”

Silence, silence is the bridge of care tonight.

"My worries are indeed unnecessary," Jian Mingjia said quietly, "If I were that ghost, I would be afraid of her."

——It’s simply a devil.

Geng Qinghe nodded vigorously on the side and agreed.

"It's done, what should I do next?"

Jian Mingjia asked: "Where will we start discussing?"

"The sound of last night was a little girl," said Lin You. "I wonder if this would have something to do with the missing children - since they are all residents of this town, I'll just go to their house to ask."

Following the direction she pointed, the missing person notice posted on the telephone pole was written with Henry Davis' name, followed by the contact information and address of the home.

The pace of life here is quite slow. After chatting for a while, there were still a few pedestrians on the street, even though the sun had already shone brightly on the horizon.

The town is built against the mountains. Under the sunlight, the forest surrounding the town faded away a little gloomy and terrifying. But looking at the mountain in the distance, Lin You suddenly saw a tall and thin figure standing there.

His back was light, painted black, and far away, and he couldn't see the specific appearance clearly.

"Why are you still standing?"

Jian Mingjia, who had taken two steps, turned around and asked, "Don't go?"

"Nothing," Lin You withdrew her gaze and caught up with them in two steps, "Let's go."

The Henry family was near the center of the town. After asking two pedestrians on the road, they easily found the family.

When the doorbell rang, a blonde woman came out to answer the door.

Seeing these three strangers, she seemed a little surprised, "You guys..."

"...Ahem," Geng Qinghe, who was pushed to the front, said according to the agreed lines, "Can we talk to you about Henry?"

In an instant, a trace of hope appeared on the other person's face as if he had finally grabbed the driftwood in the ocean, but he was more afraid of hearing some bad results and was extremely resistant. She struggled for a long time and finally asked: "Is there any news about him?"

"Ah, no."

Geng Qinghe thought that he was indeed not good at dealing with this situation. He hurriedly said: "We just have a friend--"

"The people we know are investigating these," Lin You took his words, "Now he... so he wants to continue to investigate."

What she implies is the man who lived in the apartment before her. She intuitively found something, and the parents of these children may know him - after all, if they want to get clues, they have to pass through them.

Lin You noticed the panic flashes in the blonde woman's expression.

"Are you Miller's friends?" she asked.

——It seems that the bet was right.

Lin You nodded quickly.

"Then, no wonder, his business..." sighed, "I'm sorry."

She let go and said, "Come in and talk."

It seems that Henry's mother. Mrs. Davis led the way in front, and Geng Qinghe whispered from behind, "What's wrong with Miller?"

"It's a pity that everyone said," Jian Mingjia glared at him with a grudge, "It's 80% dead, and even better, it's either crazy or disabled."

"Although I'd love to find Henry, too."

Mrs. Davis suddenly spoke in front, and the two of them were shocked, fearing that their volume would not be reduced so that she could hear some of their whispers behind her back. Fortunately, she continued to say it, unlike she could hear it.

"But since I'm an outsider, I'd better advise you not to check it out," said Mrs. Davis. "Miller...is an example. You will only put yourself in like him."

Lin You thought to herself that she was really what she thought.

"We care more about the truth," she replied, "so if you have any clues, please show us."

Mrs. Davis gave her a deep look.

"Waiting for me in the living room, I'll be back soon."

The Henry's family is a standard middle class, with a spacious and bright living room, next to the soft leather sofa, and firewood crackling in the fireplace. Under the slightest flame, the few pieces of paper that Mrs. Davis took back were a bit weird.

"Henry began painting these paintings before he disappeared," she said, "I didn't take it to heart at that time... until that day he never came home, and some people said he was seen walking into the forest alone."

Lin You picked up one of them.

The seven-year-old boy's handwriting was still very clumsy. He used colorful crayons to draw a few trees, and there were two people standing in the middle. The short one might be himself, and even if he didn't draw well, he could still tell that he was a cute normal child.

In this comparison, the one holding his hand next to him was so strange.

It looked like a man in a black suit. He was more than twice as tall as a little boy, and his hands and feet were abnormally long, with several tentacles extending behind him.

The face was blank and there were no facial features.

Other paintings are similar, and this man is always indispensable in places near or far away.

“So…”

After leaving Henry's house, Geng Qinghe said anxiously: "It won't be true, right?"

He usually has the kind of horror movies that he is afraid and wants to watch - otherwise he wouldn't have come to play "Box". But because of his limited courage and strong brain ability, he really plucked up his courage to watch only a few movies.

Both hands can count.

But he had heard of those strange stories.

"It must be." Jian Mingjia replied, "This painting is absolutely a long and thin ghost."

He is one of the most famous urban legends in the United States.

A tall and thin man who is as famous often wanders in the forest. He has very long limbs and no clear facial features on his head.

No one knows what his motive is, and he may be targeting someone for no reason—usually a little kid, pretending to be friendly and approaching before taking them away.

Then there are a series of missing children.

Occasionally, there will be adults who will make them paranoid, have nosebleeds or appear, and will appear again and again by their side or in nightmare, torture them until they are on the verge of collapse and kidnap into the forest.

"I heard that sometimes I find corpses left by thin ghosts."

Lin You said.

"The victim was thrust alive on the branches and died of bleeding."

"You mean," Jian Mingjia's face was strange, which made her feel a little uncomfortable. "Henry's mother said it was a pity, was it because he had already..."

Geng Qinghe opened his mouth and didn't say anything for a long time.

"Well, Miller should have been targeted by a thin ghost during the investigation." Lin You thought, "but the children have not been discovered yet."

Otherwise, Mrs. Davis would not have the same attitude.

"Then the question is."

Successfully imagined the scene when Miller was killed, and a cool air rushed up Geng Qinghe's back, "If we continue to check, will we also..."

"Isn't this obvious?" Jian Mingjia complained.

Lin You cleared her throat and successfully attracted the attention of the two.

"—To be precise," she said, "it's been targeted. I saw him looking here on the top of the mountain in the morning."
To be continued...
