23. It’s not about color, it’s about philosophy

For Wan Changsheng, who is full of deep-rooted concepts like Zhibai and Shuhei, this is simply subversion!

Didn’t Wan Changsheng tell the training teacher in his prefecture-level city that everything in the world can be reflected in black and white.

The four words "Knowing Bai and Guarding Hei" can basically be used as the most pretentious four-character mantra in Chinese painting, just like the four words "Seal" written from a book are the mantras for seal carvings.

Even though you know what light is, you can keep the dark real life. This is the philosophy explained in Lao Tzu's "Tao Te Ching".

Just like the famous picture of "Black Yin and Yang Tai Chi Bagua Pisces", everything in the world contains the opposite and mutual energy of Yin and Yang. You cannot be paranoid and think that except black, it is white.

It is a complementary existence.

Black and white are skeletons, and color is just a skin-like appearance.

In Chinese artistic paintings, black and white play such an important role.

Especially black. After all, most paintings are on white paper. It can be said that for Wan Changsheng, paintings are mainly black.

Who would have thought that this place is not allowed to be used!

Why?

Wan Changsheng definitely doesn't understand and ask.

This tall and tall female teacher was very kind. She didn't talk nonsense and directly applied a palm-sized color on the drawing paper. Then she changed her pen and picked a few colors skillfully in the paint box. She quickly adjusted the lid of the paint box like an egg whisk, turning it into a black gray that looked like a poison, and then applied it to the black just now. In just a little while, the black just now had basically dried: "Tell me? This kind of black is called coal black, coal-like black, and once the water pink is used black, there will be such extreme rigid black after it is dry. There is no spiritual energy. Look at this..."

After a few more sentences, the blending of black was also done after the painting was also dry. The female teacher named Fan was still demonstrating: "I just added more blue and green when I adjusted it, this black and gray is colder. Now I add more red and yellow, and this tone is warmer. Do you understand? Color painting, at least in this gouache paint painting in the exam stage, if pure black is used, this piece of color will become very rigid, and other pigments can't be suppressed, and the whole painting will be ruined. So all our dark colors, even if you think it is black, you have to use other colors to tune them out. Black with life and black with its own attributes, do you understand?"

Wan Changsheng said that he was in a difficult understanding, so let him understand it again.

Let’s first follow the attitude when learning sketching, and use your superb skills to suppress it. Do not use black, so don’t use it.

The colors are not just about squeezing out these colors when you see them, and apply them directly to the painting. You have to adjust two or more colors to each other, or add a little white to lighten it, or add a little bit of black and gray to darken it. All the principles of immortal paintings on the walls of Guanyin Temple are also drawn in this way.

But when you really start painting this Western color, Wan Changsheng may be the specific manifestation of the fact that it is difficult to get back after going through a fork in the road.

He has a hard time color tuning!

He couldn't see the color on the object...

For example, if a pear is yellow, it is mostly painted with yellow in Chinese paintings. Even if it is in fine brushwork and heavy colors, it is just a little black and painted in the dark.

Chinese painting is the color of imagination, and it is enough to have a yellow color.

However, the colors of Western paintings must be accurate to all three-dimensional surfaces, and they must be full of color expressive feeling!

For example, those dark parts of pears with dark hair must reflect a yellow, red or green color. An excellent color test homework must be filled with a keen sense of color!

Either it is a bit dull or bright, which reflects the tone and emotions of this work.

In the sketch of the monochrome of Wanchangsheng, full of charm, when the color is expressed, he is as stupid as a wooden chicken!

Teacher Fan probably knew that Wan Changsheng had no foundation, so he couldn't help but point at him: "You two came together, you can learn from her..."

The proud Wan Changsheng turned his head and saw Du Wen happily applying paint to the drawing paper. What are you painting? The jar is crooked, the apple is shriveled, the pear is painted like a banana, and the mess is full of large pieces of paint. There is a persimmon, which may have been expressed in a total of three or five rough color blocks!

Teacher Fan smiled: "This female student has a good color feeling and is very sensitive to color. Look at the redness of the persimmon. From the bright side, it contains the vitality of sunlight to the reflection on the dark side that is blue due to the background cloth, she has all reflected it. As for the shape, it is just a small problem that needs to be practiced. What is important is this rich feeling of color!"

It can be said that over the past few days, Wan Changsheng has maintained a very condescending mentality in front of Du Wen.

Who would have thought that he would be defeated in an instant?

Du Wen also looked at the difficult scene of Wan Changsheng, which was very strange: "It's very fun, very simple, just like I put on makeup on a doll! Why don't you draw..."

While saying that, he showed off Wan Changsheng: "You see, the front of this big brush is flat. I like to dip it in yellow, and then dip it in blue, and finally dip it in brown to paint it together. There is a little green in the middle. Hahaha, if you want to live a good life, you must have a little green on your head. This life is rich and colorful, right?"

The students around were all laughing and leaning back and forth, and even Teacher Fan laughed: "Okay, okay, don't tell jokes, I encourage you, you have a good sense of color, but your styling ability is still far from the time you want to change the paper. Now, be more rigorous from the beginning of the styling. This classmate, you practice your feelings about color first... don't worry."

Not to mention this last sentence, Wan Changsheng still feels better.

It was not in a hurry at first, but now it's a little anxious.

The color inside the pigment box cannot be directly applied with a brush, right?

But no matter how Wan Changsheng changes the color, the teacher will evaluate it, it is dirty.

I doubt whether he is color blind.

Teacher Fan also specially opened his mobile phone and called out a set of color blind test cards, which were the patchwork patterns like colored broken glass.

Not to mention that Wan Changsheng can fully understand it, but at least most of it can be distinguished.

The female teacher was also a little puzzled: "You are indeed not sensitive to colors, but you are not as good as this kind of colorless perception. Lao Cao said you used to paint Chinese paintings?"

Wan Changsheng can only say: "The pigments are made by themselves, which is completely different from this one. In short, I have completely zero foundation in this course."

Du Wen, who also had no foundation, was very satisfied. Even though the teacher commented that her grades were still very poor and she painted like a child of a few years old, the color blocks on the picture were indeed full of emotions.

I was so happy that my face was covered with color and I didn't care at all.

While swaying freely, he analyzed to Wan Changsheng: "I think... I may have passed by the classroom and saw them painting colors. I felt like there were countless colors jumping in my heart. So I came to learn how to draw. Isn't painting colorful? My life must be colorful, and I must not just serve people with colors... This color is not the other color, hahaha!"

Wan Changsheng only felt that he was being beaten on his face. All the calmness and leisure in front of Du Wen had now become ignorant of the world.

Even Huang Min came over to take a look and was a little surprised that Wan Changsheng felt so lacking in color.

God knows when Wan Changsheng paints the murals in the Guanyin Temple, where do they need to feel the color?

The green face and fangs are monsters, and the compassionate ones are Bodhisattvas. They are either painted as bright as New Year's paintings, or they are painted in the paint box. They are either fixed and programmed standard configurations. The Bodhisattvas must have golden light or big flesh-faced ears, and monsters must have black, green, and blue colors that are not common in daily life.

Wan Changsheng's mind had long solidified what colors meant. His feelings about colors and Du Wen's pure and natural innocence are completely different worlds.

After a whole day of color classes, even though Wan Changsheng knew that his future painting world did not need this color feeling, he was still a little uncomfortable with the frustrated mood in the face of the exam.

Especially around me, there are guys like Du Wen who turned over and sang in serfs: "Come on! Buy one and get one free, I'm loyal to you, it's not difficult to learn this from me!"
