Chapter 122 Gem turboshaft engine

Two days later, the Ministry of Railways issued a rough technical standard for gas turbine locomotives, which was exactly the same as Li Yuanling described. Only then did Elvin Robertson believe that the gas engine laboratory had a profound impact on the procurement of gas turbine locomotives of the Ministry of Railways.

The negotiations between the two sides began to accelerate, and Li Yuanling also formally proposed to introduce the Gem Turboshaft engine of Rolls-Royce Company to participate in the core power competition of the Ministry of Railways' gas turbine locomotives.

The "Gemstone" turboshaft engine is a twin-rotor turbine-shaft engine developed by the former Bristol Sidley Company in the UK. The "Gemstone" turboshaft engine was developed in response to the needs of the "Boncat" medium-sized multi-purpose military helicopter.

When the Bobcat helicopter was started, there was originally a ready-made American turbine engine for selection. However, in order to protect their own interests, the British and French governments determined that Bristol Sidley would develop a new engine and be responsible for most of the work. France's Tobomeca Company took on a small part of the workload.

The Gem Stone turboshaft engine began to be developed in January 1968, and the "Gem Stone" 41 military production engine began to be delivered in October 1976. Two years later, in December 1979, the "Gem Stone" 41 civilian turboshaft engine obtained the British Civil Aviation Agency (BCAA) airworthiness certificate.

After Rolls Reus merged with Bristol Sidley, the Gem Turboshaft engine developed into a military and civilian field with an engine power range of 600kw900kw, and it has seven or eight modified series turboshaft engine families.

Not only Britain and France have equipped more than 900 gem engines in the military and civilian fields, the gem series is also exported to Italy under the code name r1004, providing powertrains for Italy's A129 helicopters.

Liang Yuan chose the Gem series among many turboshaft engines. Although it is related to the Spey engine from Rolls-Royce, it is also closely related to the Gem which is an excellent turboshaft engine. The Gem turboshaft engine is a rare aviation equipment of the engine developed in the West.

In actual applications, the Gem Stone Turboshaft engine is extremely bold and resistant, and can withstand various violent operations of the driver. The engine overload can even reach 1.5 times the rated power. The whole machine is also extremely excellent in maintainability and reliability. It only takes 10 minutes to maintain an ordinary level, and it only takes less than one day to disassemble the engine. The engine's high-temperature components renovation life has reached 1,500 hours. In the meantime, the low-temperature components renovation life has exceeded 3,000 hours.

When developing the gem engine, Bristol Sidley adopted a large number of mature technologies. Although the gem's technical level is not very high, far behind the t700ge701 turboshaft engine used by the American Blackhawk helicopter, the cost advantage brought by a large number of mature technologies has only sold for US$20.3 million per unit. It is only about one-third of the cost of the t700ge701 turboshaft engine. It is considered to be one of the few bargain engines in Western equipment.

For Liang Yuan, a turboshaft engine is slightly more technically difficult than the SBE engine, which is cheaper and has stable and reliable performance. The turboshaft engine that the gas engine laboratory can digest in a short time is simply ideal. As for the problem of limited power increase potential in the future of the Gem Stone series turboshaft engine, Liang Yuan did not consider it at all.

When I was learning to start copying my homework in the gas engine laboratory, it was easier to copy it first. It took nearly 30 years for the Republic in my previous life and I didn’t understand that the t700ge701 turboshaft engine used by the American Black Hawk helicopter, so how could this big pit beam Yuan jump into it?

When Li Yuanling proposed to introduce the gem turboshaft engine, she was full of confidence in Li Yuanling, but Elvin Robertsont was suspicious. Because the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is too high and sparsely populated, it is quite difficult to rescue or rescue yourself in unexpected situations. Therefore, in order to ensure safety, according to the Ministry of Railways' plan, the traction noses entering and leaving the Tibet area must at least be reconnected by two machines.

Therefore, after the completion of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, at least 200 traction locomotives are needed to meet the early passenger and freight needs. According to the power of 800 kilowatts of Gem Turboshaft engine, each traction locomotive needs to be equipped with at least four units. This means that at least 800 Gem Turboshaft engines are needed without calculating spare parts.

The huge order of 800 turboshaft engines is enough to make several major power manufacturers willingly develop a brand new turboshaft engine in response to the requirements of the Ministry of Railways. It is no wonder that Elvin Robertsont is suspicious even more.

Li Yuanling did not hide it, and directly pointed out the fact that Hong Kong Yuanjiacai, the parent company of the GAS lab, was the funder behind the Ministry of Railways' gas turbine motorcycle project, and completely identified it with Elvin Robertsont, and issued documents to prove the affiliation between the two companies, and emphasized that it was precisely because of his teacher's strong recommendation that the GAS lab chose Rolls and Rolls as a partner.

After contacting the cause and effect, Elvin Robertsont realized that this Hong Kong company named Yuanjia planned to use the development of gas turbine motorcycles to squeeze into and even dominate the renewal of China's railway system equipment.

Faced with this sudden huge order, Elvin Robertsont fell into unstoppable ecstasy. Although Li Yuanling emphasized the fact that bidding is still needed in the future, the gas engine laboratory, as the funder's own subsidiary, may lose to other companies. What Rolls and Rolls needs to do now is to ensure Rolls and Rolls' own interests, and to meet the various requirements of this unknown laboratory as much as possible.

Faced with huge interests, the negotiation progress between the Gas Engine Laboratory and Rolls-Royce Company began to accelerate suddenly.

On October 15th, Hainan Lingshui Airport was breeze and sunny.

It was still at the location more than a month ago. Ning Lei and Geng Qinghua stood outside the bunker with telescopes, watching the A7 attack planes that were lifting off the Lingshui Airport one by one.

"Ning Lei, it's not bad. It seems that you've really made it happen." Geng Qinghua stared at an a7 attack aircraft that was climbing with satisfaction.

"Chief, when will we go out?" Ning Lei stood straight behind Geng Qinghua's side and back.

"It's not possible to just sway into the sky. When to move, it depends on how much their exercise performance is." Geng Qinghua waved his hand and said.

After more than a month of high-intensity training, the pilot of the A7 attack aircraft of the Republic Navy and Air Force finally obtained the qualification to fly solo. After conducting multiple stand-alone and formation drills, Ning Lei hit the report to the General Staff and proposed that the A7 attack aircraft formation already has initial ground attack capabilities.

Geng Qinghua, who received the news, flew to Lingshui Airport in Hainan the next day to test the ground attack level of the A7 attack pilots in the Republic.

On the simulated exercise site representing Nanzi Island of the Twin Reef, 12 permanent fortifications made of reinforced concrete were built in mess. Inside the bunker outside the exercise site, a staff member was adjusting a radio station and contacting the airport tower.

After a while, all twelve A7 attack aircraft took off and left Lingshui Airport, and were marshalled and assembled in the predetermined airspace.

"Chief, the aircraft group has been assembled, please give me instructions." A combat staff officer ran out of the bunker and said salutingly.
