Chapter 12 Dark Water

After walking along the passage for a long time, the surrounding black metal walls and green light said goodbye, and the two of them could not tell how far they had gone.

The uneasiness in the gun craftsman's heart became stronger and stronger. Not only did he not feel sleepy and hunger, but he could not even feel the decline in his physical strength, as if he could walk forward like this forever. He even suspected that his body's metabolism had completely stopped and he became a walking corpse, but his breathing and heartbeat were still normal, which all meant that he was still alive.

It was not until the end of the passage that the gunsmith's suppressed emotions recovered.

There is also a black metal wall at the end, but there is a handprint-shaped symbol on it.

John, who was walking in front, stopped at this time and turned around and said, "There is only one symbol, and it seems that we have no choice."

The gunsmith replied, "Then press it."

More than ten seconds later, after the strong cyan light came up and disappeared, the two came to a very open space, as big as a football field and very high roof. The top of this space is semicircular, the ground is flat, and the cyan light tracks on the floor paint the scenery of mountains, rivers and mountains. The light on the top is basically written, and there are two very conspicuous figures, which should represent the sun and the moon.

The gun craftsman couldn't help but admire this spectacular scene. This place was probably a microscopic world built by the people who built the ruins with the world they imagined. But the gun craftsman thought about it for a moment and felt strange. Does he only know that the sky is round and the place with such a technology?

John walked to the middle of the room, stared at the center of the "earth", and waved to the gunsmith: "Hey! Charles, look, there is a handprint symbol here. This is the first time that two handprints are parallel."

The gunsmith walked to John, looked down, and after only two seconds, he understood the meaning of the mark: "Two symmetrical palm prints, thumbs inward, and the small oval above is the mark on the forehead. It should be that someone needs to support the ground with both hands and kowtow to trigger it. Of course, this size is still suitable for the child's body shape of a black creature."

John said, "Then let's try it? Maybe that's how to get out."

The gunsmith took a few steps back and made a "please give me a try" gesture.

John sat on the ground, leaned forward, pointed his hands at the pair of handprint symbols, and then lowered his head. When his forehead touched the ground, there was no strong light as imagined, and replaced by the friction sound caused by the movement of large pieces of metal.

A huge statue of human head, more than twenty feet tall, slowly rose from the ground, just two meters ahead of John. At that moment, John seemed to be kneeling down to the statue.

"Well, what is this? A metal replica of the Easter Island stone statue?" John stood up and looked up at the statue in front of him.

The gunsmith observed the statue's face. It was generally a human face, but it looked a little different from modern humans. The brow bones and nose bridge were very prominent and forward, but the top-down angle was vertical and smooth, so the nose did not appear to be raised; the statue's eye sockets were very flat, and the eyes were almost shrunk inside the face, but the size and proportion of the eyeballs were relatively normal; there was no one under the nose, and the chin and mouth were nothing special; the ears were slightly strange, and compared with modern people, their growth position was slightly upward and the shape was longer.

After the statue was fully raised, the huge mouth opened. The gunsmith approached a little and found that there was no tongue or teeth in the statue's mouth. Perhaps the maker was too lazy to carve it? He looked closer and saw a piece of irregularly shaped cyan crystal emitting a faint light.

John reached in and picked up the thing, raised it to his eyes and looked at it: "Although I don't know what this is, I have a feeling that if I could take it out, I would definitely be able to sell it for a good price."

The gunsmith said, "Show me."

John handed the crystal to the gunsmith. The gunsmith glanced at it and said, "Next, do you want to say that this crystal may help us get out of this ghost place."

John was stunned for a moment; "What did you say?"

The gunsmith continued, "Oh? Do you have any other plans? Are you going to take me to the ruins again? I think it's better to save money. When I saw this thing, I understood your ultimate goal..."

John's expression suddenly changed, or he suddenly became speechless: "When did you see through me?"

The gunsmith said, "If you are completely sure... it's in that passage."

"I'm leading the way, do you seem too brave?" asked the other party.

The gunsmith denied: "No, your imitation is perfect, and every reaction, speculation, expression you make is consistent with John's character, and there is no obvious sign of lying. Judging from your performance, it is impossible for me to think that you are not John himself."

Fake John said, "So? Why did you finally know?"

"Of course it's from those things that 'you didn't show it'." The gunsmith replied: "I haven't felt hunger and fatigue for a long time...

You are in the same environment as me, at least from the moment I woke up, we had no food, no drink or sleep. After all this trouble, the real John was either exhausted or surprised by this untiring abnormality, but you didn't say anything. When I woke up, you mentioned that you would die of sleepiness without food, but after that, you completely ignored your physical needs and took it for granted. This was quite strange."

Fake John said: "So that's the case, it's really an negligence. At first I didn't know what hunger and fatigue felt. It was not until I absorbed this man named John that I got some general information from his memory. Unfortunately, there was still a big gap between the memory and the actual feelings in the human mind."

"Absorb..." said the gunsmith: "Is John really dead?"

"Yes, after you entered the ruins through that river, I absorbed him, and then brought you, who had lost consciousness, into the inside, and disguised yourself as John." The other party took the initiative to explain the situation, as if John's death had nothing to do with him.

The gunsmith asked with disgust: "What the hell are you?"

"In language you can understand, you can call me 'Dark Water'." Dark Water replied.

The gunsmith understood as soon as he heard the other party's self-reported home. The fake John who was standing in front of him was undoubtedly a disguise of the black creature he had encountered before: "Is this your name or the title of your entire race?"

"No difference." Dark Water said: "My clan has perished, and I am unique in this world."

The gunsmith sneered: "Except for the first time I triggered the mechanism, you pressed each handprint next, which led me here all the way, and pretended to "discover" the statue activation symbol in the middle of the room. Is the ultimate purpose of this?" He raised the blue crystal in his hand.

"Yes, I need your ability, alchemy." Dark Water was still blunt.

The gunsmith said, "So... can I understand this way that what you call 'absorbing' can obtain knowledge in biological memory and imitate its appearance, but cannot obtain the abilities of the absorbed person, at least not all of it." He looked at the dark water in front of him: "Even if you look like John now, you are still a black monster in essence."

Dark Water didn't respond much to the monster's name, just replied: "Yes, so I didn't absorb you, but saved you. I need your alchemy to repair the 'eternal core'."

According to the gunsmith, the guy in front of him is probably a creature without any emotion. At least his emotional reaction is far less sensitive than modern humans. He can only do what he "needed" to do and will not question the correctness of this matter at all, because he does not even have the concept of "right and wrong", let alone the traditional moral concepts in human society.

"What if I refuse to help you?" asked the gunsmith. He was not afraid of asking such a question. Anyway, creatures without emotions would neither get angry nor lie.

Dark Water does, but his unmodified answer makes people feel like intimidation: "I will torture you without hurting your life and superpowers until you agree to repair the eternal core."

The gun smith said: "How did you come up with such a smart idea..."

Darkwater: "I am a species much higher than you, and naturally know how to achieve your goals through learning. The knowledge gained from John's memory has given me enough knowledge of your race and the current situation of this era. Deception and torture are good methods. As far as I know, these two ways are much more effective than pleading.

Therefore I suggest you agree with my request immediately, without any hypocritical shackles that can bind my actions, I will definitely achieve my goal."

The gunsmith thought for a while and replied, "Yes, but I have a condition."

Darkwater: "Do you want to use the form of 'trade'? That's OK, what do you need?"

"Give me the bone gun back." said the gunsmith. He seemed very confident: "I think with your wisdom, you will not let it flow with the waves of weapons that can destroy the armor made by your civilization."

Unshui did something very disgusting without saying a word. He put his hand into his mouth, his chin dislocated instantly, but he still looked like a facial paralysis and continued to stretch it in. Half of his arm was inserted into his body, his neck was obviously stretched, and his abdomen was bulging and holding it down several times. Finally, he took out a black mucus from his esophagus, which was covered with black mucus, which was smooth and wet.

He sent the gun to the gunsmith: "Do you still want those two scimitars?"

The gunsmith's chin was almost dislocated, which was shocking. He hurriedly replied, "The knife...you should keep it..." He was really afraid that the other party would do the trick of taking things from his body in front of him. If the water went down three ways, the gunsmith could only maintain the virginity of the dog's eyes if he digged his own eyes.

The gunsmith took the bone gun, pulled a piece of cloth from the dark water's clothes, wiped it again and again, and the other party said very calmly during the process: "The clothes on my body are the same as the black mucus."

The gunsmith wiped the gun clean and patted the cloth on the shoulder of the dark water: "Is that right?"

The cloth gradually sank into the dark water's body, answering the gunsmith's question.

Danshui looked at the gunsmith and said, "I'm returning the bone gun to you, it's time for you to repair the Eternal Core."

Responding to him was a gunshot. The bullet passed through the dark water's eyebrows. His head exploded, and black mucus splashed more than ten meters behind him like ink.
