Chapter 140 Prongs, Bigfoot and Wormtail
Matthew and Neville followed Hermione and climbed up the hill.
The weather is very good, with cool breezes and weeds growing on the hillside.
Compared with the noisy Hogsmeade street, the hillside looks very deserted and there are almost no people to see.
But this is definitely good news for Matthew, so no one can disturb him from eavesdropping on the conversation on Slughorn; as for Neville and Hermione, they were "letting go" for Matthew, one in front and one after another.
Matthew put the soft little ear that Hermione gave him to his ear-
A sound of "ton ton" came from inside.
Horace Slughorn seemed to be drinking his favorite honey wine.
"Great, Rosmerta!" he said excitedly, "Today's honey wine seems to taste better than before."
Then, Mr. Rosmerta's voice sounded: "Yes, Professor. This is the Cherotweina honey wine imported from Slovakia. It has not been opened before. You are the first person to enjoy him..."
"No, not bad," Slughorn said with a smile, "I have to bring a few bottles back to the office and enjoy it slowly... Speaking of which, you are such a clever little trick, Rosmerta, your business acumen has been great since your student days..."
...
As he listened, Matthew couldn't help but frown.
Mr. Rosmerta, the owner of the two broom bar, seemed to sit next to Slughorn...they began to reminisce about the old days and chat...
This made Matthew think that Miss Elaine Shafik had left.
And on the other end-
"This girl is a freshman. I don't seem to have seen her before, and she has some eyes..." Rosmerta said suddenly.
"Yes," Slughorn introduced, "Shafik Jr. is only eleven years old this year."
"That's quite rare. It's appreciated by Professor Slughorn at a young age," Rosmerta complimented. "Miss Shafik, you must be limitless in the future... Come on, try the honey wine, it tastes great!"
Elaine Shafik whispered a few polite words over there.
"How is the business going on lately, Rosmerta?" Slughorn said comfortably there.
It seems that Mr. Rosmerta actually handed over the bar business to his wife and stayed with Slughorn and the others.
Matthew just wants him to leave now...at least before Slughorn finished drinking honey.
"Don't mention it!" Mr. Rosmerta sighed, with an indescribable loneliness in his tone:
"Do you know, in the past month, those dementors have searched my bar three times... Many old customers can't stand it and are scared away by those monsters... This has a bad impact on the business, very bad... Today, the students of Hogwarts were allowed to come to Hogsmeade, so the business seems to be pretty good..."
It seems that although the dementors who guard the various important roads of the campus were intimidated by Principal Grindelwald's "power" and dared not enter the castle of Hogwarts; they still could not settle down, and they longed to absorb the joy of wizards or Muggles.
Two brooms, which are usually lively, have become the "severely affected area" of the harm.
"It's an extraordinary time... hiccup..." Professor Slughorn burped awkwardly, "Actually, I don't like those guys either. They always remind people of unpleasant things..."
“…and Longbotton told me they were very annoyed by Grindelwald—because the principal would not let them into the castle…”
"I'm pouring you a glass," Rosmerta said suddenly. "But the honey wine is a bit high."
"It's okay, I have a lot of alcohol... Although I usually force myself to drink at most one glass of wine a day... But this honey wine tastes so great!" Slughorn said intermittently.
His voice sounded a little drunk.
Then, there was a rustling sound of water.
"Dementors...they are here to defend everyone from even more terrible threats...we all know that something extraordinary happened to Azkaban..." Slughorn continued.
"I really don't understand," Mr. Rosmerta continued to sigh, "It is indeed unprecedented that there were three fugitives in Azkaban... But what does this have to do with Hogwarts and Hogsmeade? No matter how stupid those fugitives are, they will not dare to break into Hogwarts where Principal Grindelwald and Principal Rozier are!"
Matthew quickly pricked up his ears because this was also a question he had been puzzled about.
"Because you don't understand...you don't understand..." Slughorn said, his voice sounding a little hazy:
"Rosmerta, do you remember that thing from fifteen years ago?"
...
Fifteen years ago?
Matthew counted, that is, in 1977... three years ago when Harry Potter was born... Which class was Severus Snape and his students in the original work? In the seventh grade.
"Fifteen years ago, something far away; I'm afraid I've forgotten it long ago." Mr. Rosmerta seemed to shake his head.
"No, you will definitely not forget... the students of Gryffindor College at that time..." Slughorn suddenly lowered his voice:
"James Porter...Siris Black...and Peter Pediru..."
Fortunately, Neville put the button on the back of Slughorn's chair... This way Matthew could barely hear Slughorn's voice clearly.
"As soon as you say this, I remembered it!" Mr. Rosmerta said quickly:
"James Porter and Siris Black, they like to come to me for a butterbeer... It's so funny, and I still remember it. Two funny little guys often make me laugh, like a double act..."
"... Of course, there is also their good friend Peter Pediru, the little fat boy, who often follows them like a follower... and James's archenemy Severus Snape, who once fought in my bar... I still remember their people fresh!" Mr. Rosmerta's voice contained a memory.
Then, I became a little disappointed: "But later on, I haven't seen them... I probably graduated... They didn't come back to see them..."
"No." Horas Slughorn whispered, "It's not graduation... It's the ostensible statement that they were suspected of extreme magic and were fired by Hogwarts..."
"...In fact, they did a terrible thing at the beginning... and were forced to escape from Hogwarts..." Professor Slughorn's voice became more and more serious:
"James, Sirius and Peter, they fled for a few years and were caught by the Aurors..."
