Chapter 29 Elixir of Life
A passage from Professor Bashida Basharat just finished.
But just as she paused to drink water—
Someone raised his hand.
Professor Basharat rubbed his eyes, seemingly surprised.
"Who are you?"
"I am Granger, professor!" Hermione Granger said openly: "It's very adventurous to interrupt you, but I'm very curious, so I want to ask you: What is the elixir of immortality?"
Previously, when Professor Bashida Bashart mentioned Merlin's life experience, he had always used elixirs to prosper his life.
Obviously, not only Hermione wanted to know the answer to this question. As she opened her mouth, a humble whisper sounded everywhere in the huge classroom.
Professor Basharat is a very kind witch. She is not angry because a student interrupts her lecture.
Instead, he continued to say in a gentle tone: "My course is the history of magic, and what I am studying is a historical event. Of course, if you are interested in the elixir of immortality-"
“Yes, professor.”
“We are interested!”
"Talk about the elixir of immortality!"...
As soon as Professor Basharat finished speaking, waves of impatient and tender voices suddenly rang out from all around.
Some wizards from pure blood families, such as Pansy Parkinson and Daphne Greengrass, were all excited about this and straightened their bodies.
Perhaps only Agnes Lesterlanch was lying on the table with some interest.
"Okay, OK." Professor Basharat raised his hands and signaled everyone to calm down: "Then I will meet everyone's requirements!"
The whole classroom suddenly became quiet again, and everyone stared at the old lady on the podium attentively.
"We have to start with the 'magic stone' about the elixir of immortality." Professor Basharth said slowly: "Some wizards call it the 'smart of the wise man'-"
"It is the purest, most precious, and most magical substance. It is the highest masterpiece of ancient alchemy to date! Of course, on the outside, it is just a piece of artificially made stone with magical attributes, the same color as blood."
"It can realize the wizard's most primitive wishes, including endless wealth (turning any metal into pure gold), eternal youth, and infinite life... Among them, infinite life is the elixir of immortality that can extend the life of the drinker!"
"Of course, the power of the elixir of immortality is not infinite. For ordinary wizards, even if they use the elixir of immortality, their lives can only last between seven hundred and eight hundred years old."
"Merlin not only possesses the magic stone, but also has half of the bloodline of the 'Dream Demon' in his body, which made his final life span reach 1,200 years old, and eventually died unexpectedly because of the rebellion of the fairy."
Professor Basharat lowered his head again and took a sip of water.
When she raised her head, she found a hand waving in the air.
"Sir?"
"I am Longbottom, Professor Basharat!" The tall boy quickly stood up and said with an excited look: "That is to say, after Mr. Merlin's death, has his magic stone passed down?"
"No, Mr. Longbottom." Professor Basharat shook his head: "Merlin donated all his inheritance to the Sir Merlin before his death, but this did not include the Philosopher's Stone. So some people suspect that he had used up all the Philosopher's Stone before his death."
"So how can I get a Philosopher's Stone?" Another Gryffindor boy stood up with a "wow" sound.
It immediately caused a burst of laughter from the teachers and students in the class.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Weasley!" said the red-haired boy quickly.
"Okay Mr. Weasley, but I suggest you raise your hand first the next time you ask a question." Professor Basharat said, but there was not much reproach in his voice:
"The craftsmanship of the Philosopher's Stone was lost as early as six hundred years ago. Although there have been many reports about the Philosopher's Stone for many centuries, the only remaining Philosopher's Stone is currently the only Philosopher's Stone-"
Professor Basharat's voice became mysterious, and she deliberately bought a secret:
“It’s in Hogwarts!”
This sentence instantly made the whole classroom boil.
"What?"
"Really?"
"Are you kidding, professor?"...
"It's true!" Professor Basharat raised his tone: "The only remaining Philosopher's Stone, made by the famous alchemist of the 14th century, Mr. Nick Lemay. After several changes, it now belongs to Hogwarts' principal Gellert Grindelwald!"
"Isn't that..." Ronald Weasley spoke without thinking.
But he quickly realized something and quickly raised his hand.
"Very good, Mr. Weasley." Professor Basharat glanced at him with encouraging eyes.
"Wouldn't that be... Principal Grindelwald can live at least seven hundred to eight hundred?" Ronald Weasley quickly stood up again and asked loudly.
"Life is not as simple as you think, young man." Professor Basharth's expression gradually became serious:
"A long life span will be a torture in many cases, because doing so means paying a lot of heavy price. In a limited life, you do not regret wasting your youth, nor are you ashamed of doing nothing, and realize the true value in your heart. This is what a great wizard should do."
"From my knowledge of Gellert, it is impossible for him to do such a boring thing as using elixirs to prolong his life."
...
The elixir of immortality and the Philosopher's Stone are just a small episode in this "Poil Class".
Soon Professor Basharat began to tell the historic duel between Merlin and Morgana on the island of Avalon, which soon attracted everyone's attention.
However, until after class, some people still missed the Philosopher's Stone.
For example, when Matthew passed by Ronald Weasley, he heard him muttering there: "If I got the Philosopher's Stone, I would use it to create a lot of gold first, and then buy a house in Diagon Alley..."
Matthew was worried that the "tragedy" would happen again during breakfast and dinner.
He didn't stay for too long and hurriedly left the magic history class classroom.
