Chapter 58 The Real Principal
Another peaceful night.
Matthew and his friends in the dormitory ate some cold quails sent by Horas Slughorn.
Then, amid the gentle sound of waves outside the window, he fell asleep peacefully.
...
The next day was Halloween, and Hogwarts students embarked on a one-day holiday.
Matthew Wakefield went to the auditorium to have some breakfast, and then came to the library habitually.
Since it was too early, there were no people in the library.
He was wandering between rows of bookshelf, as if looking for something.
Without spending much effort, he found a book, a somewhat worn-out book that looked like it was broken.
Just as I picked up the book, I suddenly grabbed his arm with a small hand.
"Matthew!" A familiar voice rang in his ear: "I want to talk to you!"
Matthew glanced at her sideways and cleared his throat: "Good morning, Miss Granger!"
"Good morning!" Hermione Granger nodded coldly, and then suddenly asked: "I finally caught you. Have you been hiding from me recently?"
"Of course not!" Matthew shook his head without hesitation, looking innocent: "How is that possible!"
"Then do you have time to talk to me now?" Hermione looked at Matthew with a solemn expression.
"Okay!" Matthew could only shrugged and nodded.
...
If you want to chat, you must not be in the library.
Otherwise, Mrs. Pins' anger would not be able to bear it.
Matthew first went to Mrs. Pins and completed the book he had just found, its borrowing procedures.
And Hermione Granger was waiting for him at the entrance of the library.
"Where are we going to talk?" Matthew asked while holding the book in one hand.
"I know a secret place!" Hermione's face showed a smug look.
"Where?" Matthew looked at her suspiciously.
"Near the Potion Classroom, a girl's bathroom between the castle and the basement." Hermione replied, "Of course, there has been abandoned there for a long time. So don't worry, except for a ghost who cries all day long, there is nothing there. It's very hidden and safe!"
Matthew couldn't help but blink. The girl's bathroom that Hermione mentioned seemed to be where the entrance to the secret room was.
He shook his head without hesitation, with a firm look on his face: "No, I can't go into a girl's bathroom, that goes against my principles of being a human being!"
"But..." Hermione hesitated for a moment.
"Just find a classroom without anyone else, if you really have something to let others hear it." Matthew said, while scanning the passers-by coming and going at the entrance of the library.
"Okay!" Hermione Granger had no choice but to surrender.
...
They chose the closest magic history class classroom to this place.
The classroom was empty and pitch black.
Matthew opened a curtain of the window, sat nearby, and began to flip through the ragged old book in his hand.
"If you have anything, just say it!" He spoke slowly at the same time.
"Matthew!" Hermione Granger's voice sounded a little serious: "Do you have no sense of crisis about the frequent attacks recently?"
"No!" Matthew raised his head and shook his head.
"You really..." Hermione glared at him like a little disappointed.
She had to continue: "Four students have been attacked one after another... Except for Malfoy, the rest of the people are still alive and dead..."
"Professor Grindelwald has said that the castle is safe now and there will be no more attacks!" Matthew responded calmly.
"Do you really believe his words?" Hermione's voice was full of doubts.
"No doubt!" Matthew spread his hands.
"Are you really sure Principal Grindelwald is in Hogwarts?" Hermione gritted her teeth and screamed.
Matthew's face became a little weird.
"It seems that you realize it too!" Hermione showed a winning expression.
"No." However, Matthew shook his head: "Just when I had breakfast, I saw him in the guest seat."
Hermione looked around like a thief.
Next, her voice became very small: "But Professor Rozier is not there, right?"
"I don't understand, what do you mean?" Matthew looked expressionless.
"President Grindelwald and Professor Rozier have hardly appeared in front of us at the same time!" Hermione insisted.
"I think this is obvious because Professor Rozier was injured..." Matthew retorted calmly: "And, didn't they attend the dinner last night at the same time!"
"Last night was a dinner on Halloween eve!" Hermione Granger's expression looked very serious: "President Gellert Grindelwald in previous years has never missed such a formal banquet... but apart from these important time points, he has hardly stayed in Hogwarts!"
“Because Professor Grindelwald is very busy!”
Matthew did not hesitate, and learned and applied it.
"This is not a reason to convince people." Hermione looked a little disdainful:
"I'm sure... President Garrett Greenward, who appeared in Hogwarts during this period, was all pretended by Professor Rozier, and by using the 'compound decoction'... Professor Slughorn described the effect of that kind of medicine in the first class..."
"Of course I know compound decoction." Matthew quickly interrupted her: "But this is a very severe accusation!"
"You wait--"
Hermione opened her heavy schoolbag and quickly took out a book from it.
Turning the book to one of the pages, she said with a firm look on her face:
"And...because Garrett Greenward, never really, the principal of Hogwarts!"
This time, Matthew Wakefield was really stunned for a moment.
"This is a more severe accusation!" His voice became a little solemn.
"There is a clear description in "Hogwarts A History of Schools". Every principal of the Hogwarts Magic Academy is chosen independently by the castle..." Hermione's speech became very fast: "Because Hogwarts Castle is an extremely powerful magical creature..."
"... Grindelwald was not the principal of Hogwarts at all, and he was not recognized by Hogwarts Castle at all. So when he appeared in Hogwarts, the castle would naturally reject him and suppress his power, so he could not stay in Hogwarts for too long..."
"So, who is the real principal?" Matthew asked calmly.
"I don't know, but the only thing that is certain is that he is still alive!" Hermione replied firmly.
