Chapter 343: Sacrifice the Ming Emperor Mausoleum
The Ming Dynasty Tomb, which is the official name of the Fengyang Imperial Tomb. Although it is not a real imperial tomb, it only buried Lao Zhu's parents, brothers, sister-in-law and others, it is still built according to the specifications of the imperial tomb.
Lao Zhu arrived in Fengyang yesterday. After only one night of rest, he brought Zhu Yunhuang and Zhu Yunwen's two grandsons to worship his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law. When the carriage and horses arrived at the gate of the imperial tomb, Lao Zhu got off the car and walked.
I saw that the imperial tomb was large in scale and looked like a small city. The walls outside were tall and the specifications were exactly the same as those of Fengyang City. In the imperial tomb, there were guards of Thousand Houses stations, responsible for the security matters here, as well as temples and other buildings.
Such a huge imperial tomb was built after more than ten years. The first time was when Lao Zhu had not yet proclaimed himself emperor. At that time, he was only named "King of Wu", so he sent Wang Wen and Liu Ying and other old relatives from the countryside to return to Fengyang to repair their parents' tombs.
In the second year when Lao Zhu became emperor, he wanted to move the capital to Fengyang, so he asked someone to start building Fengyang City and officially built the Ming Dynasty tomb. However, Liu Bowen later dissuaded the capital, so Lao Zhu dispelled the idea of moving the capital, but he still asked someone to expand the imperial tomb again.
Finally, in the 12th year of Hongwu, the entire Ming Dynasty tomb was finally completed, and Lao Zhu personally led the princes and ministers to worship. Later, although Lao Zhu had no time to come to Fengyang, he often sent Zhu Biao and others to come on his behalf. For example, Zhu Yunwen was demoted to Fengyang, and last year he replaced Lao Zhu to worship the imperial tomb.
Lao Zhu stepped through the Changchang Mausoleum Road and finally came to his parents' imperial tomb. He saw tall stone tablets on the left and right sides of the imperial tomb. The west side is the imperial tomb stele. The inscription was written by Lao Zhu himself. It mainly tells his hard life experience, military career, and the process of unifying the country. The entire inscription has more than one thousand words, and it is full of emotions. It makes people cry when reading it.
On the east side of the imperial tomb, there is a stele without words on the side. The reason why there is no words is mainly because Lao Zhu believes that his parents' grace for raising him cannot be expressed in words, so this stele without words is found.
It is worth mentioning that this should be the first stele without words in the Ming Dynasty. In fact, in the entire history of the Ming Dynasty, except for the tombstones of Lao Zhu and Zhu Di, the tombstones of other emperors are all stele without words.
The reason for this situation was mainly because Lao Zhu made a bad head, that is, the imperial tomb stele in front of Lao Zhu. Because the inscription was written by Lao Zhu himself, from him, the inscription of the Emperor of the Ming Dynasty needed to be written by the successor emperor.
For example, after Lao Zhu died, his inscription was written by Zhu Di, while Zhu Di's inscription was written by his son Mingrenzong. However, later emperors might have thought it was too troublesome to write the inscription by himself, so they simply stopped writing it, so they erected a stele without words, just like learning from Wu Zetian, and all their merits and demerits were handed over to future generations to comment.
I saw Lao Zhu first came to the imperial tomb monument, looked up at the inscription he wrote, and read word by word: "My father lived in this place, and the agriculture was hard, and he was wandering day and night. Yuer's natural disasters were everywhere, and his family suffered: The emperor finally had sixty-four, the emperor's mother died in fifty-nine, and Brother Meng died first, and the whole family was mourned..."
When I read the last sentence "Family Mourning", Lao Zhu was already in tears in pain, and seemed to think of the period when his parents and brother died of illness one after another, which was also the darkest moment in his life.
Since then, Lao Zhu never had a home again. It was until he married Empress Ma, which was Empress Ma that allowed him to regain the feeling of having a home. This is also the main reason why he has a deep relationship with Empress Ma.
Although he was sad, Lao Zhu still forced himself to read the inscription. When he read that he had risen in troubled times, cleared obstacles step by step, and unify the Central Plains, his voice became louder and his expression became excited, as if he had returned to the era of the glorious iron horses.
After reading the imperial tomb monument, Lao Zhu turned around and walked towards the wordless stele with heavy steps. Zhu Yunxi and Zhu Yunwen behind him wanted to come forward to support him, but Lao Zhu waved his hand to stop him. He was strong all his life, how could he show his old attitude in front of his parents?
Although the wordless stele has no words, it carries Lao Zhu’s longing for his parents, so Lao Zhu touched the stone tablet with his hand. Thinking of the past he had been happy with his parents back then, he made him cry again. This was the first time he cried so hard since Empress Ma’s death!
However, after crying, Lao Zhu quickly wiped away his tears, and then asked someone to send the offerings prepared and personally worshiped the tombs of his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law.
However, at the end of the worship, Lao Zhu came to a tomb behind his elder brother Zhu Xinglong's tomb. He saw that this tomb was a bit special because Lao Zhu posthumously conferred his parents, brothers and others. For example, Zhu Xinglong was posthumously conferred as the King of Nanchang. The tomb was also built according to the royal tomb, and other tombs were also titled.
However, the tomb in front of Lao Zhu had no title, and the name of the tomb owner was written alone on the tombstone. When Lao Zhu saw the three words "Zhu Wenzheng" on the tombstone, he couldn't help but sigh.
Zhu Wen was the only surviving son of his elder brother. Shortly after Lao Zhu started his army, his sister-in-law brought the young Zhu Wenzheng to join him. Lao Zhu also regarded his only nephew as a parent-child, and raised him with another nephew Li Wenzhong. Even the names of the two of them were chosen by Lao Zhu himself.
Zhu Wenzheng was also very committed to fighting at a young age and made countless military achievements. Especially when Lao Zhu and Chen Youliang fought decisively, Zhu Wenzheng dragged Chen Youliang's 600,000 troops to Hongdu for three months with a small amount of troops, gaining enough time for Lao Zhu to mobilize troops, which led to the subsequent battle of Poyang Lake, otherwise Lao Zhu would definitely be defeated.
However, Zhu Wenzheng was young and frivolous. Although he was a genius general, his behavior in the army was a bit arrogant. Old Zhu wanted to deliberately suppress him and let him restrain himself, so Zhu Wenzheng made many contributions but did not get the reward he deserved. As a result, this made Zhu Wenzheng dissatisfied and even had a strange intention. As a result, Old Zhu personally drove a boat to Zhu Wenzheng's military camp and questioned him in person what he was going to do?
Originally, Zhu Wenzheng was indeed a little dissatisfied with Lao Zhu, but when he saw Lao Zhu, even if Lao Zhu came to his military camp alone, he would not dare to make any changes.
Then Zhu Wenzheng was taken back to the capital by Lao Zhu. Originally, Lao Zhu had no intention of killing him, but later Empress Ma persuaded him, so Lao Zhu put Zhu Wenzheng under house arrest in Tongcheng, intending to activate him after a while, but unexpectedly, Zhu Wenzheng died of depression soon. This incident was also a thorn in Lao Zhu's heart. He felt that he had let down his elder brother's instructions and failed to take good care of his only nephew.
Thinking of the above, Lao Zhu couldn't help but sigh, and then whispered to the tombstone: "Wenzheng, my uncle is here to see you. I blamed my uncle back then. If I could be more fair and give you what I should have, there would be no future happening!"
When Lao Zhu said this, he picked up the wine pot, took a few sips by himself, and then sprinkled wine in front of Zhu Wenzheng's tomb, which represented his humility. Although everyone was dead, he said that these were useless, but at least it would make Lao Zhu feel better.
In fact, Lao Zhu was pretty good to Zhu Wenzheng, his nephew. For example, if it were someone else, he would have been wiped out by Lao Zhu, but Zhu Wenzheng was dismissed from office. Lao Zhu also named Zhu Wenzheng's eight-year-old son King Jingjiang, which was later passed down for 14 years. This was also the only royal family in the history of the Ming Dynasty who was not of Lao Zhu's blood. Even Lao Zhu's nephew Li Wenzhong was only given the title of king after his death, and his children and grandchildren had only one duke.
After worshiping the entire Ming Dynasty tomb, Lao Zhu was about to leave. However, when he walked to the gate of the imperial tomb, Lao Zhu suddenly stopped and turned around again to look at the imperial tomb where his family was buried. At this time, he was even wondering whether he would be buried with his family after his death?
But in the end, Lao Zhu shook and said, "Forget it, my queen is still waiting for me in Xiaoling. I can't let her be alone. If I die in the future, I'd better transport it to Nanjing to be buried with the queen. If there is no disturbance from my parents-in-law and children, the queen will have more time to accompany me!"
