When a battery-driven vehicle is running, the power of the running wheels drives the generator to provide power to the battery.

Weilai installed two high-frequency generators on the Penguin's rear axle.

When the battery power of the vehicle itself is less than 40%, the generator and axle are connected to drive the generator to run.

The electricity generated by the high-power generator begins to supply power to the battery to achieve the goal of long-distance battery life.

The power generated by the generator can support the battery to run for 300 kilometers, and the battery itself can run for nearly 300 kilometers, which achieves the goal of 600 kilometers of battery life.

Compared with electric vehicles that use the engine as a range extender, it has the advantage of not burning oil and being quiet.

But there are also disadvantages, that is, when the battery is exhausted and the vehicle cannot move, it will no longer be able to generate electricity.

If the wheels don't turn, there will naturally be no power, and the generator will naturally not be able to generate electricity.

Another disadvantage of this method of extending the range is that it consumes the battery's charge times faster.

The generator often charges the battery, which naturally consumes the number of charging times of the battery.

But this problem is not too big.

The lithium iron phosphate battery currently produced by Weilai has an astonishing number of more than 3,400 recharges. If you only use it for commuting, these recharge times are enough for you to use it for decades.

One charge a day can last you ten years.

One charge every two days can last you twenty years.

If you charge it once a week, you will really have to send everyone away, but the car will still be there.

As for the reduction in battery power, this is basically negligible.

Battery power does not shrink as quickly as people think.

It's about 1.5 to 2 percent per year.

In other words, a battery has been used for ten years and still has 80% of its power.

If you don't run long distances and just travel around the family circle, it is enough.

However, this form of range extension is still not suitable for cold northern regions.

Weilai also launched an engine version of the range extender specifically for northern users.

The vehicle is equipped with a 1.2t 475 gasoline engine and a high-power DC generator. When the battery power is consumed to 20%, the engine starts to work and drives the generator to generate electricity. It runs directly with the electric motor on the vehicle, and the generator emits

The excess electricity can also be reverse-charged into the battery.

It consumes 3.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, but achieves a maximum range of 800 kilometers.

Of course, if you replace it with a 35-liter fuel tank, it will not be a problem to run a thousand kilometers.

Even if it is extremely cold and the battery power is reduced by one-third, you can still achieve more than 500k mileage using the engine.

Compared with those extended-range electric vehicles in the previous generation after 2020, Weilai's technology has far exceeded the level of these car companies in the previous generation in 2020.

The range extenders used by those car companies are basically 1.5t engines, and the fuel consumption is generally around 4.7.

Weilai now uses a 1.2t engine to achieve the effect of their 1.5t engine.
