Chapter 2 With You(1/2)

Rhodes adjusted his mentality as quickly as possible.

The only way now is to pass by as a victim.

As long as they don't become suspicious, everything will turn around.

On the bright side, he may not be the murderer. A tattoo can't explain anything. Maybe it's a coincidence? Maybe the owner of that hand is not the murderer at all?

There are many possibilities, and they may not always develop in the worst direction.

With his mind settled, Rhodes no longer panicked and looked up.

Most of these eleven people were dressed in blue and held lanterns in their hands. Their arrival made the air brighter, the sky became wider, the shadows and visions disappeared, and the depressing feeling was greatly weakened.

The leader was a young woman.

He has a delicate face and looks no more than twenty years old. He is wearing a strange robe composed of green and white, with an extremely conspicuous triple flame logo on the collar.

"Do not be afraid."

She spoke softly, her voice soft and clear, like a skylark in the valley.

The moment the words were spoken, the last trace of luck in Rhode's heart disappeared - he could understand every word she said, but he could not understand her language.

The companions around the girl spread out and began to survey and clean up the scene.

The lamps they carried were relatively simple and not as bright as the one in the pile of corpses, but they should be able to illuminate a few meters around them.

"Maybe they rely on this to travel in the black mist." Rhodes thought to himself.

Two people came to him. A burly white-haired man took out a slightly reddish stone and placed it in front of his eyes. He said coldly: "Speak."

"Ah?" Rhodes didn't understand, "What did you say?"

But the man had already put away the stone.

"There are no traces of corruption, no loss of control over psychic energy."

He seemed to be checking his condition, while another young lady squatted down, groping with her soft little hands on his body, as if checking his body, and said softly:

"Relax, don't be nervous, the guardian is here, everything will be fine."

"Hmm... what is this soft ball? A furry ball? It's quite cute. It must be your favorite thing, right?"

Rhodes was a little at a loss, but fortunately the groping didn't last too long. The young lady's hands were quick, and in just a moment she had turned him upside down, searching every corner.

"This security check is really awesome." Rhodes thought to himself, "Why doesn't it exist in my world?"

Then I thought: "Fortunately, she didn't pay attention to the pattern on the back of my hand."

The young lady stood up, gently held his arm, smiled and said, "It's not serious, just take a few steps."

Rhodes felt confused. Am I hurt?

Apart from the headache that plagued him like a toothache, I didn't feel anything was wrong, right?

But after taking two steps with the help of the young lady, my whole body started to hurt and one of my legs was lame.

"What's wrong with this? Have I been injured secretly?"

The young lady smiled and said, "No strenuous exercise. It takes three to five days for the bones to heal completely."

Rhodes agreed blankly, but suddenly felt a little worried. This royal city is so strange. I wonder if he, a three-no product, can adapt to it?

Looking up, everyone at the scene was busy nervously. They quickly collected the items scattered on the ground and touched each corpse with a blue stone. Not sure if it was an illusion, but Rhodes felt that the restless corpses seemed quiet.

Come down.

"That's the curse-breaking stone."

The young lady explained to him understandingly.

"It can lift the curse of living corpses and help their spirits rest. Please don't be sad, they will return to the embrace of fire."

Rhodes felt a chill in his heart.

Sure enough, in this dark world, fire and light are their spiritual totems.

He saw a man walking up to the lamp in the pile of corpses, carefully releasing the corpse's hand from the lamp ring, gently opening the top cover of the lamp, and pouring some red powder into it.

In an instant, the lamp became brighter, and the flame in the lamp stabilized, no longer looking like it was about to go out at any time.

The young lady smiled and said: "That's great, the fire is not polluted, it's just that the phlogiston is not enough."

Rhodes was moved. They didn't immediately suspect me, but I couldn't remain indifferent, otherwise I would look very suspicious.

He hurriedly said: "Well... uh..." he hesitated, then changed to a more prudent statement, "You'd better not destroy the scene, maybe you can find some clues."

The young lady smiled and said: "Don't worry, someone has already copied and recorded it." She winked at him, indicating that it was the burly white-haired man next to her.

Rhodes glanced at him and found that he was staring closely at him. There was a long charcoal pencil in front of him, floating on the yellow straw paper and drawing rapidly.

The young lady smiled and said: "You seem to have recovered. You are very strong. I like this type of boy the best."

She let go of Rhode's hand and walked away briskly.

"My name is A Luo, a second-level physician in Jinworth. I'm glad to be able to help you."

The burly man walked up and said coldly: "Please completely recount your experiences before and after the incident, especially before and after the disaster. Don't miss every detail. We will use these to find potential doomsday believers."

coming!

Rhodes' heart tightened.

"I……"

He hesitated for a moment, and when he saw the burly man's cold eyes, he changed his words to a safer one.

"I can't remember clearly."

This is a universal answer. To make up a lie requires countless details. If one detail is seen through, the entire lie will be exposed.

What's more, he doesn't know what the people here are capable of.

The burly man narrowed his eyes.

"Why can't you remember?"

"I, I don't know, I'm too scared... There are corpses everywhere... My head hurts. I seem to have been injured. Maybe this caused amnesia..."

These words are very accurate, and the whole process is full of vague personal feelings and emotions. It is simply the perfect exculpatory confession of the famous criminal Zhang San.

And this is indeed the case, he just described it in a different direction.

But the burly man was unmoved and said coldly.

"I found a strange blood stain at the scene. It seemed to be drawn into a specific pattern but burned to ashes just before we arrived. Can you explain it?"

Rhode's eyes widened, didn't he? You can find traces even if it's burned to ashes? Are you Geralt, the fractured old man?

Wow.

The yellow papyrus next to the burly man turned a page, and the charcoal pen suspended in the air continued to write crazily.

Rhodes glanced at it calmly and found that the back of the page was also full of words.

But he was illiterate and didn't know anyone.

Grass.

"I, I can't remember clearly, I was too scared at the time..." Rhodes hesitated for a moment, but still did not rush to tell the strange symbol and what happened during it.

The burly man said no more, and after writing dozens of pages, turned and left.

Rhodes looked at his back anxiously.

Passed the test?

Apparently not.

Two more people came over and stood beside him without saying a word. The meaning of surveillance could not be more obvious.

Rhodes' heart sank.

On the other side, the burly man did not deliberately lower his voice to avoid him.

"...The reproduction is complete and all information has been recorded."

"The entire migration team was wiped out, and the lamp-bearer died in the battle. He was the only survivor."

"The goods were not lost, there were rituals with unknown directions at the scene, a living corpse curse of unknown origin, some evidence was destroyed, and the cause of death is unknown."

"...I believe that the survivors are extremely suspicious and should be handed over to the Internal Affairs Bureau for soul examination."

The girl in the blue and white robe said nothing and listened quietly. The doctor A Luo on the side covered her mouth with some disbelief in her tone.

"Isn't it? Bai Lang, are you mistaken? I don't feel like he is a bad person."

The burly male white wolf glanced at her with cold eyes.

"Aluo, never judge a person by his feelings. There are too many suspicious things about the whole thing. He is the only survivor, but he claims to have amnesia. He may be hiding ulterior secrets, trying to deceive us, and carry out some kind of

A terrible conspiracy to achieve his ulterior motives."

"But, after entering the Internal Affairs Judgment Office, he might..."
