It was already late, and Karan hoped not to wake the child.

She whispered: "We can see her again tomorrow..."

"Don't you need to take a look?"

"What if I wake her up?"

When Mrs. Nashley came out from the end of the corridor with a lantern to greet her, she saw Siovel talking to a black-haired slave.

Siovel's right shoulder was wet, but the person next to him seemed to be in good condition. Her eyes were worried, and Siovel leaned slightly closer, as if to comfort her.

This is not the picture Mrs. Nashley imagined.

To be honest, she wouldn't be too surprised even if her son brought the slave over with a collar today.

This is totally something he can do.

But the ordinary scene in front of her surprised her.

They look... harmonious?

"...Go to sleep first."

After she got closer, she heard Xiovel say this.

The voice is subtly soft and husky.

Karan felt the light, raised his head, squinted slightly, and saw an elegant lady in the halo.

She is wearing a black veil and long hair. She is dignified and decent. She looks no more than forty years old. But if you look closely under the light, you will find the fine lines at the corners of her eyes and the wrinkles on her neck, which all indicate her age.

At least over fifty.

She is stunningly beautiful, with a gentle light in her eyes.

For some reason, Karan breathed a sigh of relief.

Nashley gathered her black veil and raised her eyebrows and said: "The castle is very big, I think we can arrange a suitable place for her to live. What do you think, Edmund?"

"Whatever, I'm sleepy." Siovel intentionally or unintentionally distanced himself from Karan and stopped making eye contact with her.

"What's her name?" Nashley asked again.

Xiovir said in a casual tone: "You don't need to know the slave's name, mother."

Karan looked at the floor coldly.

"Really?" Mrs. Nashley raised her eyebrows slightly, "I think I need to know the name of my granddaughter's mother."

Siovel suddenly found it difficult to say Karan's name.

He frowned and said, "I think..."

"What's your name?" Nashli directly bypassed Siovel and asked Karan.

"Callan." Xiovir said quickly.

Mrs. Nashley frowned slightly: "I'm asking her."

Xiovel said coldly: "I am answering on behalf of my property."

Mrs. Nashley glanced at the silent Karan, then looked back at her arrogant son, and nodded calmly: "If one day I hear that you were stabbed to death by her in bed, I won't be surprised at all."

Karan knew where Siovel's vitriol was coming from.

Siovel tried his best to suppress his anger: "Good night, mother."

He took Karan's wrist and strode her to the bedroom.

Mrs. Nashley was behind them, showing another subtle expression of doubt.
