Chapter 70 Trouble at the Door

"I'm worried about how to pull out you dirty mice," I twisted my neck and pulled out the two steel daggers around my waist. "You just happened to send yourself to me at this time. It's so considerate, gentlemen."

"Continue to bite the bullet and talk," the fake guard in the lead played with the sword in his hand, and walked towards us step by step with several other people holding spears. "When you can still talk, say more, because you will soon become two cold corpses!"

Without any extra nonsense, the four guards came to us with weapons in hand.

I sighed, if there was no need, I really didn't want to kill people in the hall of the dead, and a battle occurred in a temple of gods? This would undoubtedly become the focus of this small town, which would make things bigger.

And for me and Hickrad, the earlier we are exposed, the sooner we are, the more dangerous it is.

But now things obviously cannot move in the direction I expected, so I had to take one step at a time.

"Soon the battle, Hill," I whispered to Hickrad beside me, "I don't want to attract too many people's attention."

"I understand, Salon."

Not attracting attention means that some powerful rune techniques and pistols can only be the last resort for us to be desperate.

This made me a little worried about Hickrad. I was somewhat trained in systematic fighting, but Hickrad? As far as I know, he was just learning rune arts and alchemy before meeting me again.

But the current situation obviously does not allow me to think about it anymore. The long sword of the Plague Cult has reached my face. I waved the steel dagger in my hand and flexibly blocked the attack that the evildoer hit me in front.

I soon discovered that I had underestimated the sharpness of the steel daggers, and these two seemingly inconspicuous daggers easily cut off the long sword in the hands of the believer.

"This is impossible!" The believer seemed very shocked. "This is a high-quality steel sword equipped by the Strand army. How can it be... you have a steel weapon in your hand!?"

"You're not too stupid," I sneered, "Now let's see who is going underground to reunite with his brothers?"

Before he could do anything, the two daggers in my hand stabbed forward straight forward, easily piercing his armor and stabbed into his abdomen.

Scarlet blood gushed out of his wound. The cult snorted in pain, covered his stomach and took several steps back, and collapsed to the ground.

"This shouldn't be..." He watched me walk towards him step by step, with a look of despair on his face, "Damn the intelligence team..."

"Information Team?" I quickly walked to his face and picked him up, "What do you mean?"

"Do you really think no one knows your whereabouts? You are dressed so special," the plague believer who was picked up by me laughed. "My Lord is omniscient. You just walked into the city guard camp and we learned your whereabouts."

I frowned and walked into the city guard's barracks swaying. After all, I still had no consideration.

"Ah," I nodded, "It seems that there are still your people in the barracks, right?"

"You won't be proud for long, the vampire hunter," the cult laughed terrified. "My brothers, and my Lord's race will come to you, and I can see your dark and helpless future."

"I will send you to the darkness before that," I slit his throat with a dagger.

Blood splattered out, and his laughter quickly turned into a hoho sound when he died.

I watched his pupils gradually spread and then became motionless.

After confirming that he was dead, I threw him on the ground casually, then looked up at the three fake guards left not far away.

The guards I killed seemed to be the leader of them. In just a few more than ten seconds, the three of them had no time to rush up.

They exchanged their eyes with each other, and a bad premonition surged in my heart. I have seen this look so many times. I have seen it in Joseph's eyes and Tracho's eyes. This is the look that a person will only show after he has put life and death aside.

I threw the dagger in my hand as fast as possible, and the two daggers turned into two lightning and shot towards two of the believers.

Hickrad, who was standing by, also noticed something was wrong and pulled the trigger immediately.

But we are still late.

The bodies of the three guards suddenly swelled wildly, gunfire sounded, and a bullet hit the forehead of one of the guards. Two daggers accurately penetrated into the hearts of the remaining two, but nothing changed, and their bodies became bigger and bigger until they reached a critical point.

After the crisp gunshot, it was neatly tidy, like the bursting of an airbag.

My heart sank to the bottom of the valley the moment the three guards exploded. I should have thought of it that they pushed us to the water.

Now everything is open, even if we retreat at the fastest speed, we are more or less exposed.

Just as time has stopped, the screams of the civilians worshiping in the hall of the dead have just sounded.

I frowned and looked at the tomb chamber that had turned into a flesh-and-blood hell in front of me, "How are you doing, Hill?"

"No...it's okay, ahem, I opened the shield in time."

Hickrad's voice came from the side. Although he was a little weak, he didn't sound or look bad.

"It's time to retreat," I said in a low voice, "it will soon be filled with the soldiers of the City Guards and the priests of El Cain. I don't want to be escorted out in full view."

"So too."

Before the city guards and the priests reacted, Hiccrad and I were mixed among the panicked civilians and left the hall of the dead under the guidance of the priests.

Of course, it was impossible for the priests and the City Guard to let everyone go so easily. We will go to their barracks to undergo a simple investigation under the surveillance of the City Guard.

Hickrad and I were wearing black robes that we stolen from the lounge and hoods that were enough to cover our entire face, which made us look just like the Elkain Priests in the other teams.

The priests here were all in the cemetery when the incident happened. Like other civilians, they... no, we also need to be investigated.

Of course, for me and Hickrad, it would be enough to keep a low profile before meeting Captain Wells.

The Hall of the Dead is not far from the city guard's barracks, and soon we arrived at the gate of the barracks.

"Everyone goes in!" the city guard officer who led the lead shouted loudly, his face was very gloomy, but his tone was quite polite.

In fact, everyone in the city guard had a gloomy face, and they stood quietly, staring at our team until we entered the barracks.

"Stop!" The officer's voice came again, "Everyone is lined up here, and then one by one is under investigation by Captain Wells, starting from you!"

He pointed to the front of the team, a middle-aged man in a gray robe. The guards on standby quickly surrounded him and took him to the second floor.

The investigation went smoother than I thought. One person after another was taken to the office on the second floor and released within thirty seconds.

For these released people, the City Guards signaled that they could leave.

I stood quietly in the line, and the people in front of me quickly decreased, and it was my turn soon.

"This respected priest," said the officer respectfully, "and come and be investigated."

"Of course," I nodded gracefully and followed the officer into Wells' office.

"Captain, the next one has been brought."

The officer reminded Wells, then took him to the door and walked out.

As soon as he walked out, I immediately took off my hood.

"Please tell me, when the incident happened... it was you?"

Wells raised his head and the original question came to an abrupt end. I could see the astonishment on his face.

"What happened?" he asked in a low voice, "I didn't expect you to make such a big noise."

"There's something wrong with your city guards," I returned angrily, "The four guards you sent to guard the body are all people from the source of the plague."

"What!?" Wells opened his eyes wide in surprise. "I...I don't know," he said incoherently, "No wonder they took the initiative to ask to go to the Dead Hall to be on duty."

“It is possible that my companion and I have been exposed,” I said. “The secret operation may have no meaning.”

"What are you going to do?" Wells said with some concern, "Do you need me to provide protection?"

"No," I rejected Wells' proposal, "no one has seen our faces yet, we will try to dive under the water again."

"Okay," Wells nodded in understanding, "then you can leave, Mr. Priest."

"There's one more thing, Captain Wells," I said, standing at the door, "I think it's necessary to tell you if someone in the barracks."

"I get it," Wells' expression became solemn, "Thank you for the news."

After notifying Captain Wells, I put on my hood again and walked out of the barracks quickly, just like other people who had been under investigation.

In order not to attract attention, after leaving the barracks, I walked directly into a bar across the street, with Hickrad right behind me, and I thought he would come out in a while.

As soon as the juice I ordered came to me, Hickrad walked out of the barracks in a hood. I immediately walked out of the bar and picked a prominent position to stand.

Hickrad soon discovered me. He stretched his waist first, then walked to this end of the street as if nothing had happened.

"This is really strange," said the owner of the bar as soon as Hickrad walked in, and he said in surprise. "Today, two priests of Elkain came to my shop. What do you want to order?"

"Just give him a glass of juice, just like mine."

I sat back in my seat and said in anger: "When it comes to this, today the hall of the deceased was attacked and a tomb was fuzzy."

"Oh my God, that's really scary," said the bar owner, a little scared. "Who is it that dares to defile Elkain's realm?"

"I don't know," I said viciously, and poured a mouthful of juice hard, "My God will surely curse the pagan who committed this sin, and his abominable accomplices."

"So, that's why you came to the military camp?"

"That's it. My brother and I were disturbing the cemetery at that time, and then this happened... a matter of punishment from God, so all the people in the cemetery area were taken to the military camp for investigation. Whether it was the priests or the civilians, they had to come. You can see more priests' later."

"So that's it," the hotel owner nodded suddenly, "The two adults have suffered. I've invited these two glasses of juice."

"The humble believer of Elcain thanks for your generosity," I smiled and drank the juice in my glass, "Let's go, Chasitus, the Bishop should be waiting for us."

Hickrad nodded silently, stood up with me, and walked out of the store with the smile of the bar owner.

"Huh," I breathed a sigh of relief as soon as I left the bar, "I'm so exhausted."

It's really bad in this situation. I don't know who will be a member of the source of the plague, so I have to try my best to deal with the bar owner in a disguised identity.

If he was a member of the Plague Source, I hope he was deceived by my performance. Hickrad and I would not be able to deal with the entire Plague Source Division, let alone those vampires.

"God, Saren, you really deserve to be an actor," Hickrad exclaimed in a low voice, "You just looked like a real Elkain Priest."

"I'm a Norman, Hill," I smiled proudly, "this is nothing more than a piece of cake to me."

"I might have been a great actor," I said, "if Strad hadn't killed my family."

"Oh, sorry," Hickrad said hurriedly, "I shouldn't..."

"It's okay, Hill," I waved my hand at him and forced a smile, "It's been a long time since I've accepted it."

"That must be difficult, Salon."

"It's not the time to talk about these things, Hill," I stopped Hickrad from thinking about continuing to discuss it. "We have to find a secret corner first, change our clothes, and then we have to find a place where we can rest."

What I experienced in the past few hours on Grey Kiri Island made me doubt everything on this island. The Vampire Slayer Guild has no branch on this island, and everyone around me may be a member of the source of the plague. Hickrad and I seem to be in an extremely dangerous situation.

I walked on the not-so-wide street of Cross City, smiling bitterly inside. Before coming to Grey Island, I never thought that I would be in this state.

Before we could come to the door, we came to the door.
